does anyone know anyone who works there please? Someone stole an item out my hands today in a different store and it’s the only store with stock of the item which I’ve hunted everywhere for but I can’t get through to store only a central call centre; anyone know how I can before I drive all that way for potentially wasted journey please?

Just as a suggestion
why not do a thread
“anyone got this bag as a gift for Xmas and doesn’t like it/ need it”, post a photo and ask them to list it on vinted and pm you the vinted link?

TheSquareMile · 27/12/2025 16:53

Which bag is it, OP? Can you post a link to it so that we can see?

Babynamehelp8 · 27/12/2025 16:35

Yes thanks though. It just goes to central call centre who say they “have no way of contacting the store”

Christ, can you imagine if every one who fancied a certain item in the M&S sale contacted a store - by phone - to check stock before they travelled, on the day after Boxing Day?

And given the stock checker online isn’t accurate, this would mean placing each caller on hold whilst they go to the shop floor in person, then take said item to a separate area to hold - not knowing if said customer is going to come back for it or not…and if they do, it would mean another staff member leaving the shop floor to go back to the separate area to retrieve it.

all whilst the item would sell anyway if the item was left on the shop floor?!

nah.

it won’t be there now, you can pretty much guarantee, I bet there’s a delay in stock. A jumper I tried to buy yesterday said low stock, then before my very eyes it was out of stock, but when I came out and back in again it said low stock, but wouldn’t let me order it. So I got my arse to the store for 8 this morning and secured said jumper.

it isn’t actually that nice in real life but since I’d gone to all he trouble I bought it anyway.

Glad you got the jumper 😀

I'm not going tonight, but will be there tomorrow afternoon, if that helps.

Ooh thank you so much! Could I pm you please?

Superhansrantowindsor · 27/12/2025 16:59

Post the bag. I bet someone can find another one that is identical from a different brand.

When you say country, do you mean England? If they have it in Whitewalls Swansea I can get it for you in 15 minutes... (just upping the drama and the ante a bit - but it's true, I can, I'm going to Waterstones for the stationery sale!)

Aw thanks unfortunately it’s not in stock in wales either!

Sorry but Mumsnet is not M&S customer service

Why not? Sometimes MumSnet people enjoy helping.

In the olden days you could ring an M&S branch and they'd put things aside for you until the end of the day, but they weren't meant to do it with sale stock.

isitmytime · 27/12/2025 17:01

is it in any Edinburgh stores?
I could go tomorrow morning before work and post it!

Thank you. Wasn’t treating it like M&S customer service but don’t see why someone can’t ask for help from lovely mumsnetters ☺️

Oh I’d love that but it’s so lovely I’m afraid you’d all want it and get there first lol 😂 Sheffield fargate is the only store in the country with 2 in stock 😢

then you would need to drive there,

PrawnCrackerBowl · 27/12/2025 17:04

I think you should risk being open about the bag. I don’t think you’re going to get a flood of people from here going to buy it just so you can’t have it. I will probably visit both the M&S branches on Oxford Street on Monday and would be happy to have a look. I don’t know how reliable online stock checks are so it could be at lots of different branches where it says out of stock and vice versa.

TheSquareMile · 27/12/2025 17:05

OP, if you can't track it down over the weekend and are still desperate, I will look for it at Finsbury Pavement (Moorgate) , if you think that they might have it next week. I live in Central London.

They used to do this. And not that long ago. 10 years?

Oh op… I was so close to offering and then you started getting snippy with people. I’m intrihued by your hyperfocus on the particular bag, I’d love to know if it’s still haunting you by next Christmas

You don’t sound here like someone who would offer to help.

WonderfulSmith · 27/12/2025 17:32

I need to know more about them stealing it from your hand. Do you mean you had it in your hand but before you could get to the till someone took it off you?

Blacksheepatchristmas · 27/12/2025 17:35

If they have it in Aberdeen I'd happily get it for you OP
