So I am hosting Xmas. Getting xyz for all variants of catering needs and tastes.

The ONE bloody thing for ME is a Salmon Platter featuring a Salmon Terrine. This is very important!

Salmon Gate is very competitive on the shelves. Due to the short shelf life of salmon pates it’s a bit of military coordination.

There is one acceptable salmon pate in the country. I know I have tried everyone. In the dark hours of last eve I have been informed the 25th dated drop for that was 3am this morning. Apparently in good quantity so later today I will sidle down to secure the pate.

I have perused the terrine options. On my late night travels last night I have scoped out all the salmon terrine options and drop times/ quantities. My most preferred option of which is the M&S terrine; now available as of 10.30 this morning. We have a small store so competition is on; lest I have to trek ungodly distance!

I tell DP he needs to get up and be there for its opening. 10.30 comes and goes! I say you are skating on thin ice! GET OFF YOUR BLOODY ARSE. Raised voices may have been applied.

Anyway he’s just left. Will he secure the goods? Has he left it too late? Will I be touring the country later today?

I have just instructed my DH (with many expletives) to get rid of an enormous high backed winged leather armchair he bought that is in the way of my (minimal) cleaning wherever it is put and is far too big, heavy and awkward. It was obviously designed for a 6ft 6inch heavily built rugby player. My DH is a Welsh shortie. He bought the chair mail order apparently without knowing how big it was. That chair belongs in a mansion, we live in a modern small roomed house. Will chairgate lead to a separation?

Ahh that is such a relief. I was actually quite stressed 😅

Still got the pate to go but now having secured the terrine centrepiece I feel pressure is off.

Yay for the salmon terrine! I used to make my own salmon and dill pate for Christmas. Back when I had a useless husband who expected everything to be made from scratch.
I now take a grim delight in perusing the dessert freezer in Tesco to choose one. If I'm having salmon pate then I still make mine!

This was me with the M and S cherry roulade yesterday. Having failed to procure the item on release day on Thursday, I was in the store at 8.03am feeing optimistic. But there were none left in the freezer. Argh!

Someone went three floors away into freezers to find it for me. Am well chuffed.

My partner went out this morning to get some bits for Xmas and came back with this, was unrequested but now I’m happy!

I am glad there are others who also have crazy food must haves at Xmas 🤣

The answer is no. No I didn't. Nobody here likes fish based starters.
