So I am hosting Xmas. Getting xyz for all variants of catering needs and tastes.

The ONE bloody thing for ME is a Salmon Platter featuring a Salmon Terrine. This is very important!

Salmon Gate is very competitive on the shelves. Due to the short shelf life of salmon pates it’s a bit of military coordination.

There is one acceptable salmon pate in the country. I know I have tried everyone. In the dark hours of last eve I have been informed the 25th dated drop for that was 3am this morning. Apparently in good quantity so later today I will sidle down to secure the pate.

I have perused the terrine options. On my late night travels last night I have scoped out all the salmon terrine options and drop times/ quantities. My most preferred option of which is the M&S terrine; now available as of 10.30 this morning. We have a small store so competition is on; lest I have to trek ungodly distance!

I tell DP he needs to get up and be there for its opening. 10.30 comes and goes! I say you are skating on thin ice! GET OFF YOUR BLOODY ARSE. Raised voices may have been applied.

Anyway he’s just left. Will he secure the goods? Has he left it too late? Will I be touring the country later today?

Maybe I need to spend the next year campaigning for veganism. That’s a next level strategy to reduce the salmon competitors next year.

Tofu respectfully this is not the thread for you. Someone has already pointed out these are farmed salmon. They have an issue with that because their lives are lesser quality than wild salmon and their are some environmental issues with that.

So by your standards we are ‘helping animals’ by not eating the wild ones.

You on the other hand are here unintelligently complaining about taking lives; and seeming to forget that these specific farmed salmon have lives precisely because WE gave them to them.

So whilst yes I believe there are some valuable virtues to veganism. Saver of lives is not one of them imo. Veganism would result in less animal lives.

I mean, I'm not getting into the vegan debate here.

I just came on to say a massive thank you to the OP. Last night I decided to take a trip to M & S to see if I could find said salmon terrine, I think I've been dreaming about it - didn't need anything else - just a few bits perhaps? And there it was! Nestled in the fridge calling my name, looking beautiful.

So obviously I popped it in my basket ... which soon turned into a trolley. £££ later ...

Well the thread is parody-esque (yes I did just make that word up 😂) in its entirety. It is a thread about the ULTIMATE pursuit of a specific salmon terrine.

And no I haven’t said anywhere veganism is bad. But yes it is basic logic to point out that veganism isn’t saving the lives of farmed salmon 😂 quite the contrary in fact.

You can't reason with them. Common sense says that if we didn't eat animals they would be culled.
I don't like Salmon personally but have enjoyed this thread immensely.

@Salmongate Your argument seems to be that farmed animals are somehow different from wild animals, and therefore fine to be eaten. But this is untrue. They are all animals, sea creatures, and choosing to eat them promotes animal cruelty and harm.

You cannot help animals by eating them. If it is wrong to hurt wild animals, as you appear to believe, then it is also unethical to kill farmed ones.

I hope you enjoyed yours as much as we did ours! No pic as everyone started serving themselves as soon as I put it on the table (served with blinis and shredded baby gem lettuce) 🎄
