Why do men hate women so much?

I’m on the larger side, a size 18. Walking back from work with my headphones in and on my phone and a guy leans out of his car window (passenger side) in slow moving traffic, barks at me like a dog and calls me a fat bitch. Him and his mates in the car then crack up at it and find themselves absolutely hilarious as they’re crawling along next to me.

I know it’s silly to be so upset by it because it’s such a silly thing for them to do, but they took me by surprise and gave me a fright and I just don’t get it. Why are men like this?

And the vast vast majority of the perpetrators are other men!

What? Are you real? How many females do you know that behave like this? Because I certainly don’t know any and I don’t recall seeing the news littered with incidents of female aggression towards males.

That was a horrible thing to say but try to remember comments like that reflect on them and not you.

When anyone is walking home at night and feels a teeny bit scared, it’s never a woman they fear.

And what sex are overwhelmingly (more than 90% in fact) the perpetrators?

I think the shock of it more than anything has upset me. They were probably about two feet away from me, it frightened the life out of me!

Please know that there is nothing wrong with the way you are. So many of us have had our looks mocked by "men"/boys (myself included). Those sort of immature excuses for men push me to make sure I raise my son to be nothing like them.

Germaine Greer was right. Men are scared a woman may laugh at them, women are scared a man might kill them.

If you don't think men hate us, try attending a feminist meeting. You will have to fight your way through howling loons to get in.

You poor thing, @growingsideway , that is a horrid thing to happen. If it is any consolation, I have had the exact same thing happen although I was on my bike rather than walking - only I am a size 8, and the man in question is the husband of my (some years prior) midwife. 🤮

I wonder if there is something about being in a vehicle that empowers these type of men. Something about their safety and our vulnerability perhaps? A power trip? Imagining they are in car adverts where the man drives fast in Italian mountainsides and gets the girl?! Goodness knows.

It makes them feel big is all, it’s a way to hype themselves up. I tend to think it’s men who feel more powerless in real life who tend to do it (I may be wrong). There was a study on aggression towards women on the internet/social media and it was basically generally men who perceived themselves to have lower status or value who committed the majority of abuse.

They did it because even they think they are losers.

That makes sense - like incels.

I think it's because they are jealous.

They are jealous of women's advancements, since recently being chattels we have evolved rapidly and have plenty of room to go further, we in general are willing to work on ourselves.

Whereas these type of men are stagnating at best and disdain women because they hold up a mirror to their lazy backwards ways, unable to evolve as individuals.

They are probably aware they are shoddy and they resent that aswell and become bitter.

I find on this site most women hate men.

I have 2 who are both size 6-8 and have done a lot of modelling.
They are stunning and are not fat at all but both of them have been called fat multiple times.

Its an insult that men think is the thing that will hit us the hardest and I guess it often does.

Sorry OP that’s horrible. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. It’s misogyny but also ties into a wider societal issue of hatred of fat people. When I was overweight I seen immediately how different people treated me. Not loved ones but I mean strangers on the train and in the store etc.

So many men are incredibly superficial and thick. I remember reading on here a story of a woman who came back from work, tired and frazzled looking. She walked past a bunch of young men who began making derrogatory comments about her look. Later that evening she was all dressed up and wearing makeup and the stupid men didn’t recognise her and were wolf whistling etc 🙄

Absolutely this and you are 100% right.
