Whoever has pulled out of the Eurovision because Isreal are competing….. pathetic!

Spain, Ireland … to name a few.

Answer me this- if you have a nurse/doctor from Isreal or Israeli decent….. will you not be seen by them?

And do you think that everything Israel has done since makes another October 7th less likely? Sure, in the short-term, Hamas’ military capacity is wiped out, but a generation of Palestinian children have just spent two years living through unimaginable terror, with death and destruction raining from the sky, and they will blame that trauma in its entirety on Israel. Being bombed is a radicalising experience - you can’t bomb people out of wanting to kill you.

Everything that the Israelis experienced on October 7th, they have lived for 2 years - and at a far greater scale. Only a small minority of Israelis living in the border communities and at the Nova Festival were in real mortal danger on October 7th. But Gazans throughout the strip were in real mortal danger everyday for 2 years. However traumatised the Israelis are, the Palestinian civilians are a million times more. That is a fact. And it will inevitably lead to more attacks on Israelis that further radicalise them, and another radicalising cycle of violence.

Edited

Then why, if only a minority of Israelis were in danger, did Hamas do it at all then? Thats my question. Why do you think they kidnapped and murdered only a ‘minority’? What did they hope to achieve for the Palestinians? What was the end goal? The reality is that they didn’t do it to further a cause for the Palestinians, but just did it for the hell of it, took their trophies into Gaza, and then the Palestinians paid for it with their lives. All so unnecessary.

EddyNeddy · 04/12/2025 23:25

Abbie7327 · 04/12/2025 23:23

why don’t you go out there and support the cause? What are you doing for those poor wee kids? Just arguing with people on social media who don’t really mind a singer on TV? Maybe you should take a flight out and sort everything out before you start slandering people here. Good luck to you. Hope you save them all. Maybe drop by Sudan on the way home, bit of genocide going on there but no one really cares about them eh?

How Christian of you x

So we boycott TV because they show the Eurovision?

This wasn't pedantry because @EddyNeddy didn't say or imply that viewers would turn off the whole of TV.

Am I being pedantic 🤔

Actually the best thing to do is turn off the TV. Pretty sure if you keep it on you'll inadvertently have sight of someone somewhere who has said/done something wrong at one point or other in their lives, which ofc is not a person any of us want to view.

I don’t see why you’re asking me to explain the actions of Hamas - I’m not pro-Hamas and I believe that October 7th was an atrocity for which there is no justification, as I have made quite clear repeatedly on this thread.

It was quite clear from the start that October 7th would be catastrophic for Gazans. Hamas betrayed their own people by setting this spark.

My point is that Palestinian civilians have no say over what Hamas does and should not be made to pay Hamas’ actions with their children’s lives.

Switcher · 04/12/2025 23:27

Completely agree. Israel has been in the competition for 50 years. I don't particularly care for their response to 7/10 , but they are not the aggressor and they are not a sanctioned country who threatens the peace of the entire continent. Im fact in don't see any real parallels with Russia at all.

Livelovebehappy · 04/12/2025 23:28

EddyNeddy · 04/12/2025 23:19

Because some people can’t put mass murder to one side and enjoy a singing competition as easily as your good Christian self can.

You don’t have to compromise yourself. All you need to do is switch channels. Don’t watch it. Problem solved.

Hortesne · 04/12/2025 23:29

But there might be someone on the other channel you also don't agree with!

scoobysnaxx · 04/12/2025 20:23

Israel has completely gone past defending itself.

they have committed genocide and ethnic cleansing.

of course they shouldn’t compete.

and just don’t with the anti-semetism comments I’m far from it and sick and tired to death of being accused of it because I stand with Palestine.

LOL

I won’t. I wasn’t going to in the first place. But this thread wasn’t started by people complaining about Israel’s inclusion - it was started by pro-Israel zealots moaning about other countries dropping out.

You’re free to watch Eurovision if you want to, with the remaining 5 competitors. You have no right to demand that other countries take part to satisfy your need for light entertainment.

Thank you - know you’re being sarcastic but no harm in having a different opinion, life would be boring otherwise as you wouldn’t consider other points. Let’s be honest, we could be worse off in Palestine or Ukraine so let’s count our blessings.

Well Palestinians appeared to be pretty okay with the actions of Hamas. Following 7th October Hamas were greeted like returning hero’s when parading their trophies through the streets in Gaza.

47% of Gazans are children.

Im Irish and I am glad that RTE has made this decision. I dont want my television licence fee to fund access to a competition that actively allows Israel to manipulate votes, harass contestants backstage and break the rules of the contest so blatantly.

If Russia cant compete, neither should Israel. Or any other country involved in sustained genocidal activities.

Likewise.

No harm in having a different opinion. Lots of harm in being a useful idiot, but hey ho.

There was no need to demand anything. The Israelis were already putting forward a contestant, just as they’ve always done for Eurovision. On the contrary, it’s others that are demanding they’re thrown out.

Yep, and children were present in the crowds too. Taken there by their parents for a day out I guess to watch the naked corpse of an Israeli civilian being paraded down their streets on the back of a truck. Shameful…

Funny that because ‘from the river to the sea’ nonsense literally wants the removal of Israel and the people in it. Now that’s genocide.

bored of hearing about people supporting terrorists. None of you give a hoot about the Christian massacre in Nigeria atm but I guess that’s because it’s not trendy!

go Israel!

Claptrap.

The reality is, Israel is grinding tens of thousands of children into bone fragments and dust.

That’s it - can you not bring yourself to criticise that utterly abhorrent behaviour ?

StickyToffeePavlovas · 05/12/2025 01:47

Honeycottage · 04/12/2025 20:27

Completely different situation because Russia were the aggressor.
Israel are at war because they were attacked by an invasion of terrorists across the border into their country & hundreds of civilians i.e. babies, children women, elderly people were attacked, raped, mutilated, kidnapped & murdered. Israel were responding to acts of aggression by Hamas & then Hezbollah, Houtis, Iraq. They did not start the war.

You do realise that what your referring to wasn't the start of the war right? Do you think it only started then?

OonaStubbs · 05/12/2025 02:01

Are these same countries going to refuse to compete in the World Cup because of Israel being in it?

puppymaddness · 05/12/2025 02:33

Livelovebehappy · 04/12/2025 22:11

The hostages taken by Hamas were also raped - both men and women. And saying toddlers were shot in the head is twisting the narrative to something it’s not. Yes, children were killed during the attempts by Israel to retrieve the hostages, which no-one wanted, but please don’t imply that toddlers were lined up and shot in the head….

*Yes, children were killed during the attempts by Israel to retrieve the hostages, which no-one wanted..."

Can you hear yourself?????

The slaughter of 10,000s of children you mean? Is that what you don't particularly care for?
