Until we live in a non sexist, non racist and non classist society then no death penalty.

No matter what people think, the facts are that women get longer sentences than men for the same crime plus crimes they should never be imprisoned for like defending domestic violence.

White working class and underclass get sentenced more and longer sentences than white middle class who do the same crime and black people get sentenced more and longer sentences than others for the same crime.

Imagine if all that was applied to a death penalty.

Men like this one should get life in prison and castration. We should also have prison labour camps making them work until death.

StewkeyBlue · 03/12/2025 17:03

Personally I am not prepared to allow the criminal, murderous , malevolent scum of the earth to influence or set my own values: we do not kill people.

It's high on whataboutery, and it's high on attempting sarcasm.

Maybe next time.

Those who believe that prison is a nicer option that death penalty clearly have no idea of how unpleasant a place prison will be, particularly for men. Yes they'll get their 3 square meals a day, a roof above their heads and access to TV etc but the vast majority will have to constantly look over their shoulder, likely never sleep a proper wink of sleep again due to the risk of attacks, essentially be on constant high alert. Also, other prisoners really do not like those who harm children, he won't last long and it will not be a nice quick neck breaking death- more likely he'll be repeatedly stabbed with a makeshift dirty instrument as he slowly bleeds out. And nobody will really care.

I wonder how many of the people who want capital punishment to be returned would be willing to pull the lever. Not who will bluster hypothetically that would be happy to, but who would actually kill the convict.

The thread has moved on. Hanging is clearly the premium execution choice.

Most posters here would go for slow roasting, or maybe descent into boiling oil.

Personally I think we should monetise executions and have the condemned have to run a couple of hundred yards across a pitch whilst people who have paid a few hundred grand get a chance to take them out with dum dum bullets.

(If anyone wants to report this comment, it's sarcasm level is moderate)

I disagree. Clearly a lot of posters here have very intimate knowledge of the UK prison system, hence their expert take on it.

All very interesting but can’t see why you quoted my post

PeriMumEndofHerTether · 03/12/2025 17:12

I've changed my mind about the death penalty. I think all pedos and rapists should get an automatic death sentence. It's the only way to eradicate the faulty gene in men. And yes, MEN.

I'm not sure either ? Site glitch, cosmic rays, or fat fingers I guess 😀

I don’t know. Where there’s no doubt (like Axel Rudakabana) I think we should have the death penalty

But there is doubt. And we cannot risk killing an innocent person.

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 03/12/2025 17:14

Men like this and the police man who has just been sentenced for raping babies are whey I could never claim to be against the death penalty. I really wouldn’t mind if these men were not sharing our air.

Agreed. Where there is no doubt and no further victims to find (although info is rarely given over that aids with finding others) I think it is a far more sensible outcome than 50 years in prison where, such as with Hashem Abedi, they are able to attack more people.

myhaggisblewup · 03/12/2025 17:15

I think it's better to keep them in prison, they have accidents so have to sleep with one eye open.
There's also the chance they will send up with a hulking great cell mate who goes by the name of Honeysuckle.....

Why not ? We used to.

Hons123 · 03/12/2025 17:16

He is not going to last in jail and you know it - just like what's his face, the Pakistani man with his daughter and the musician scum, they died this year in jail, did they not?
But no to hanging the innocent or even if there is a shadow of a doubt.

Monty34 · 03/12/2025 17:17

There are many cases where it is clear the guilty person has been convicted. That, in the public mind should result in a death sentence.
The rationale for not doing so is that the 'clarity' can soon become a bit blurred.
Also, some argue, it debases society.

Any evidence that it's genetic? If so, should we be pro-actively killing those with the specific gene?

ChoccieCornflake · 03/12/2025 17:19

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 03/12/2025 16:58

We can't have the death penalty.

It's inhuman, and we're better than that monster.

This.
Because we have to be better than to answer violence with more violence, or what is the point?

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 03/12/2025 17:23

Those who are against the death penalty because it’s inhumane/ could be a wrongful conviction but gleefully explain that the perpetrators may well be tortured, raped and murdered in prison which is better… how do those two ideas exist simultaneously?

ShizIsWicked · 03/12/2025 17:24

Because there's the logical argument about mistakes etc.... However there is also the fact that, hanging is an easy for them! I would be up for them being taken to one of the worst prisons in the world, pretty sure it would cost us less than it does to keep them in one in this country. If that didn't deter scumbags, not much would.

Bringemout · 03/12/2025 17:24

I think if life genuinely meant life or you couldn’t get released early fewer people would want hanging. He’s a monster and would be no loss to the world.

Mapletree1985 · 03/12/2025 17:24

"Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends."

I don't think there is much of an intersection.

We don't treat prisoners humanely because of any failing in our own morality. We treat prisoners humanely to display our own humanity.

Uniquely among animals, human are able to develop social behaviour around abstract laws. It's that which makes us human. descending into revenge or vengeance and succumbing to animal instinct rather undermines that.
