To ask why exactly is Holly Willoughby so disliked these days?

Flauwa · 02/12/2025 14:37

No I’m not Holly or a member of her pr team.

I just don’t get why HW is so massively disliked these days. She doesn’t appear to have done anything wrong. But her presenting career has obviously taken a huge knock.

HW wasn’t the one messaging underage boys. We have no evidence to suggest she was aware of it. So why has she basically been banished?

Is this another example of women paying for men’s mistakes?

Im on a group chat and a nasty-ish comment was made about Holly and I just don’t get why.

Is she disliked? By who?

Didn’t she push into the queue at the Queen’s funeral. Other than that I don’t know much about her.

Cherryblossomsprite · 02/12/2025 15:07

She probably disliked by the person whose neck she broke but I think quite a lot of people still like her.

Everanewbie · 02/12/2025 15:09

I suppose its completely out of order to distance yourself from a groomer and to take a step back from the limelight when a stalker plotted to kill you!

I have heard rumours that she isn't always as nice to staff as perhaps her public image is geared towards, but that is just gossip as far as I know.

x1994x · 02/12/2025 15:10

I think the situation with Phil ruined her reputation in some sort of way. I personally don’t care it makes no difference to me but I know what you mean as I always see more hate than support from her since that saga

Tillow4ever · 02/12/2025 15:10

I’ve always noticed a lot of nasty comments about her - I never understood why. I don’t know her personally, but I always liked her as a presenter etc.

I am curious as to whether this was her choice to take a step back or if it’s been forced on her because of Schofield. I doubt we will ever know though.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 02/12/2025 15:12

Wouldn’t recognise her if she was sat in front of me. Possibly you’re reading too many gossip mags.

Muffsies · 02/12/2025 15:13

I have always found her and Schofield to be really fake "trying too hard" types. Once Schofield got in trouble she dropped him like a stone and the pretence was over. It's quite clear that they never were friends at all and she was just livid that his behaviour negatively affected her image (which was all built on a fake relationship).

It's no loss, the pair of them were insufferable, and I'm glad we don't have to put up with all that contrived banter forced giggling any more.

ZenZazie · 02/12/2025 15:15

Friend of a friend who works in TV is very professional and never has a bad word to say about anyone, only ever says good things about people he works with, never ever has a single word to say about her.

Georgiepud · 02/12/2025 15:17

I think it's a case of the higher you climb in the industry, the further you fall, even though she's done nothing wrong.

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 02/12/2025 15:27

I imagine she's a bit upset about what the stalker was planning, it was really horrendous and would affect someone deeply including their family.

She has taken a step back from tv I thought.

Catpiece · 02/12/2025 15:31

Schofield. Queuegate.

333FionaG · 02/12/2025 15:32

She knocked someone off their scooter and broke their neck. That's not very wholesome.

muggart · 02/12/2025 15:33

she got a lot of hate due to philip schofield shagging that 20 year old (or however old he was).

I bear her no ill will personally.

Idontknowwhy15 · 02/12/2025 15:35

I think her star was starting to wane before all the horrible Schofield stuff happened. There were a lot of comments about her being everywhere and didn’t we have any other presenters. She then stepped back, for obvious reasons, and there’s not so many options open to her now.

I think this is a really good example of how HW is between a rock and a hard place. People criticising her for dropping him immediately when he was called out for behaviours akin to grooming (which I would also drop someone for like a hot rock) and also People criticising her for not having dropped him sooner and suggesting she must have known etc. It's nothing to do with her and she can end a friendship whenever she wants, just because people have some illusion of connection to a relationship they interpret on TV is not to say that needs to go on behind the scenes or that that's fake - in their line of work It's professional ffs.

I think it's all combined around some really horrendous stalking she's experienced and been a perfect storm to set her career on the back foot.

Sunfloweranddaisy · 02/12/2025 15:37

Personally I'm not a fan of Holly as met her through work years ago and she was very rude.

Do think the whole phil thing did affect her as a presenter they were always a duo so either going solo or with another presenter other than Phil wasn’t the same.

What ?

Flauwa · 02/12/2025 15:38

i would also drop a colleague/friend the second they were revealed as a sexual predator. I don’t see how you can criticise Holy for that

Schofield. Queuegate.

Was queuegate really THAT bad?

I didn’t think cutting in line was on but how many men have done far far worse than cut in line and not had their popularity crash.

Some people liken her to Satan it is absolutely bizarre, she is a TV presenter who was doing her job, shes also been the victim of a stalker and kidnap plot some maniac wanted her dead.p

AgentPidge · 02/12/2025 15:43

I wouldn't say I don't like her exactly, but I don't watch anything if she's on it. It's the giggly airhead thing, the way she speaks as if she's presenting Blue Peter. It makes her seem lacking in intelligence, which I doubt she is really.

TanquerayTickles · 02/12/2025 15:43

I think she took a step back as she was being stalked, and it was discovered there was a kidnap plot against her; it was all quite sinister.

She knocked a moped driver over, who fractured his neck, poor sod. She took full responsibility immediately at the scene and in court, admitting to driving without due care and attention.

Anyhoo, I have no feelings about her either way honestly, but apparently she's the favourite to get the Strictly job when Claudia and Tess leave.

Ah just seen it in the news, so not only did she fail to indicate, she failed to check her mirrors, before turning right, nice one
