To ask why exactly is Holly Willoughby so disliked these days?

Flauwa · 02/12/2025 14:37

No I’m not Holly or a member of her pr team.

I just don’t get why HW is so massively disliked these days. She doesn’t appear to have done anything wrong. But her presenting career has obviously taken a huge knock.

HW wasn’t the one messaging underage boys. We have no evidence to suggest she was aware of it. So why has she basically been banished?

Is this another example of women paying for men’s mistakes?

Im on a group chat and a nasty-ish comment was made about Holly and I just don’t get why.

I think she took a step back as she was being stalked, and it was discovered there was a kidnap plot against her; it was all quite sinister.

She knocked a moped driver over, who fractured his neck, poor sod. She took full responsibility immediately at the scene and in court, admitting to driving without due care and attention.

Anyhoo, I have no feelings about her either way honestly, but apparently she's the favourite to get the Strictly job when Claudia and Tess leave.

I didn't know she knocked someone over , that's probably why she hasn't been on TV recently.

Cherryblossomsprite · 02/12/2025 15:48

Coffeeishot · 02/12/2025 15:37

What ?

She drove dangerously and seriously injured someone.

BillieWiper · 02/12/2025 15:49

Yeah the knocking people over and breaking their neck isn't great.

I've never been a fan but I don't really hate her. She doesn't affect me either way.

I saw !

Cherryblossomsprite · 02/12/2025 15:51

I think also queue gate did lose her some fans, as did seeing her partying with Phillip and one of his victims but I think she still has a lot of fans. I saw lots of nice comments about her when she was on a Netflix show earlier this year.

x12 · 02/12/2025 15:51

I don’t think she’s that bad but the public get fatigued at the same presenters & I don’t think she was a particularly great one.

Bookloveruk · 02/12/2025 15:52

I think she just comes across as fake. Her and Phil were as thick as thieves, she knew all that he was doing and she was the one who supported him when he came out. When media turned against him she just dropped him and that is why I feel she’s disliked as she knew all that went on but to protect herself she turned on him. All so she could distance herself. I also think they were a brand together and she doesn’t have that presence herself.

Izzywizzy85 · 02/12/2025 15:55

I used to really quite like her. I don’t any more. I find her really disingenuous and insincere. The whole nauseating “Firstly, how are you?” Speech after Schofield really put me off. Ridiculous and completely fake. I totally get why she distanced herself but it felt like every move was managed to within an inch of her life to save her career, and I think it’s had the opposite affect-if she’d have been more genuine and open people wouldn’t have been as turned off her.

Sartre · 02/12/2025 15:57

I have a friend who is a stylist, she did a programme with Holly for a while and said she was absolutely horrible. Extremely rude and arrogant. This was not a one off occurrence, she was awful to everyone.

Muffsies · 02/12/2025 15:57

Lavender14 · 02/12/2025 15:37

"Once Schofield got in trouble she dropped him like a stone and the pretence was over. It's quite clear that they never were friends at all and she was just livid that his behaviour negatively affected her image (which was all built on a fake relationship)."

I think this is a really good example of how HW is between a rock and a hard place. People criticising her for dropping him immediately when he was called out for behaviours akin to grooming (which I would also drop someone for like a hot rock) and also People criticising her for not having dropped him sooner and suggesting she must have known etc. It's nothing to do with her and she can end a friendship whenever she wants, just because people have some illusion of connection to a relationship they interpret on TV is not to say that needs to go on behind the scenes or that that's fake - in their line of work It's professional ffs.

I think it's all combined around some really horrendous stalking she's experienced and been a perfect storm to set her career on the back foot.

The point i was making is that she dropped him for completely self-interested reasons, she was livid about her career, not that he'd potentially groomed someone. Their whole shtick was that they were soooo close and really liked each other - it was a total lie.

She wasn't sorry for the damage he'd caused others. She wasn't grieving a genuine friendship. People just found her to be disingenous.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but that's just how i interpreted what happened.

Mashedpotatodaily · 02/12/2025 15:58

Years ago, I thought she seemed so lovely after watching her on This morning. I happened to do a job for another *Celebrity (who was very nice) and she was at the house. The difference in how I expected her to be and how she really was, was huge. She was very mean girl/bitchy and up herself. She was actually quite intimidating or attempting to be and just had a bad aura about her-hard to explain! I found it quite disturbing and was shocked as it was literally the opposite of how she came across on television.

Flauwa · 02/12/2025 15:38

i would also drop a colleague/friend the second they were revealed as a sexual predator. I don’t see how you can criticise Holy for that

I think (from comments I read) people were suggesting there’s no way she didn’t know beforehand.
She only dropped him as soon as it was public knowledge.

RamALamADingDong2 · 02/12/2025 16:04

I think you're misreading the situation. She was under a very serious threat from a stalker. It was a big deal and it seems to have made her want to shy away from the limelight.

BoredZelda · 02/12/2025 16:06

Cherryblossomsprite · 02/12/2025 15:48

She drove dangerously and seriously injured someone.

She made a mistake whilst driving, which I see people do all the time, and unfortunately it caused an accident. She admitted to it and was prosecuted for it.

Ant McPartlin drunk drove twice the legal limit, caused an accident where a toddler had to go to hospital, gave a load of “wah, woe is me” media interviews in his defence, and still keeps winning TV awards. Oh that cheeky chap is so loveable we can forgive him.

Double standard much?

I think even if it wouldn’t have happened, she’d still be in the limelight less, I think people just saw through it all and got fed up of her.
She honestly spoke to me as if I was beneath her. Have worked with other famous and/or very wealthy people and never met someone like that.

x12 · 02/12/2025 16:08

The whole nauseating “Firstly, how are you?” Speech

That was cringe central!

I don’t think it’s really fair to state that she 100% knew what was going on with PS and his victim. You don't know that. Predators are deceptive.

I don’t know why Holly should get any heat whatsoever for Phil’s crimes!

I hate to say it’s misogyny but it feels misogynistic.

Well one thing is that cringey “are you ok?” opener she had to little speech on This Morning about PS. Like anyone watching really gives a shit. I think that gave a lot of people the ick.

They both made awful mistakes-they’re human.

However, Ant comes across as a decent person, whereas she really does not.

Yup cheated on his wife, drove drunk but has got away completely scott free.

And what has Holly actually done?

does not sit well with me at all

She's just bland and dull.

Dramatic · 02/12/2025 16:12

She's a woman, so obviously she's responsible for what her male colleague was doing with an underage boy.

It was awful..the whole This morning situation with those two was so messed up. They came across as being like nasty bullies at school and obviously let it all go to their heads, weak characters.

Thank god for Cat and Ben, just professionals

He drove drunk. I don’t care how “decent” you act on camera that is appalling.

My sister was killed by a drunk driver. I ended up being raised by a mum who had a nervous breakdown as a direct result.
