To ask why exactly is Holly Willoughby so disliked these days?

Flauwa · 02/12/2025 14:37

No I’m not Holly or a member of her pr team.

I just don’t get why HW is so massively disliked these days. She doesn’t appear to have done anything wrong. But her presenting career has obviously taken a huge knock.

HW wasn’t the one messaging underage boys. We have no evidence to suggest she was aware of it. So why has she basically been banished?

Is this another example of women paying for men’s mistakes?

Im on a group chat and a nasty-ish comment was made about Holly and I just don’t get why.

I wouldn't say I don't like her exactly, but I don't watch anything if she's on it. It's the giggly airhead thing, the way she speaks as if she's presenting Blue Peter. It makes her seem lacking in intelligence, which I doubt she is really.

I agree. I find her vapid. Her wide doe eyes look of innocence irks me too, she’s like a doll, all plastic and fake.

I don’t know her, never met her, but she was at one point everywhere and that was the impression I got.

Whammyammy · 02/12/2025 17:24

Jumping the queue at the Queens funeral certainly didn't help, showed massive entitlement. Associated with Phil hasn't helped i bet either.

Charlize43 · 02/12/2025 17:26

Oh I'd forgotten about her not calling out a sexual predator, allegedly her 'best friend'. How could she have not known? I know who all my friends are shagging and a few work colleagues too...

Is she disliked? Maybe because she's disingenuous, comes across as fake but entitled enough to cut a queue.

OP, you might feel differently about her if she'd broken your neck?

I have always found her and Schofield to be really fake "trying too hard" types. Once Schofield got in trouble she dropped him like a stone and the pretence was over. It's quite clear that they never were friends at all and she was just livid that his behaviour negatively affected her image (which was all built on a fake relationship).

It's no loss, the pair of them were insufferable, and I'm glad we don't have to put up with all that contrived banter forced giggling any more.

Oh she knew alright.
That's why she dropped him so hard.
No one' s going to admit knowing what a celeb groomer got up to as it would have been career suicide but she'd done that already by pushing in to see a dead body

MusicMakesItAllBetter · 02/12/2025 17:27

I can't stand her voice and I'm gutted she'll be hosting Strictly

popcornandpotatoes · 02/12/2025 17:28

Honestly I thought she'd done less work recently following the stalker stuff

Flauwa · 02/12/2025 17:29

LemonDrizzleKay · 02/12/2025 17:20

Some people worship celebrities while others resent them and absolutely love it when they Fall. Especially if they're blonde and considered cute.

HW demonstrates the dark side of celebrity. A man was jailed for life for plotting to rape and murder her. That's terrible.

For life? I’m surprised. Jail sentences are normally so lenient in this country.

Apparently so..... 🤬

pilates · 02/12/2025 17:39

I would prefer HW as Strictly presenter than Amanda Holden that’s for sure.

GumFossil · 02/12/2025 17:41

I doubt very much that she’ll be hosting Strictly. Even if the BBC wanted her for it (and I bet they don’t), would she want to host a show that’s clearly on its last legs?

AmberRose86 · 02/12/2025 17:41

x12 · 02/12/2025 16:08

The whole nauseating “Firstly, how are you?” Speech

That was cringe central!

Yeah this is absolutely what did it for me.

I don’t want to watch her on Strictly. Let’s get some new blood, surely.

houseofisms · 02/12/2025 17:41

She got done for dangerous driving and braking someone’s neck/back can’t remember which all she got as punishment was 6 points!

SL2924 · 02/12/2025 17:46

Because the media like to build women up and then brutally take them down? And the public get suckered in by it.

KetchUpWithEverythingPls · 02/12/2025 17:46

I think she probably reminds a lot of people of the popular, pretty girls at school for who ( on the outside) things came to really easily.

And maybe brings up things that they haven't confronted about their past where they felt looked down on and unimportant by the "populars" - so she is an easy target

Ezzee · 02/12/2025 17:51

Mashedpotatodaily · 02/12/2025 16:09

They both made awful mistakes-they’re human.

However, Ant comes across as a decent person, whereas she really does not.

OMG that made me laugh, he's a complete wanker, no remorse, a lying cheat and plays the victim, decent my arse!
She knew what was going on it was her best friend, threw him under the bus and then covered her arse.

Beachtastic · 02/12/2025 17:54

Well I always wondered because I quite liked her on telly. She's charming and pretty and funny, or at least I found her so. But people "in the game" say she's nothing like that in real life.

Re Strictly, I'd love Alan Carr to present it!

FuzzySnail3 · 02/12/2025 17:55

Dramatic · 02/12/2025 16:12

She's a woman, so obviously she's responsible for what her male colleague was doing with an underage boy.

No, she knew very likely the whole time. Lots of other people on the show did.

She only dropped him once her career was at stake.

Loubelou71 · 02/12/2025 17:56

I always think popular presenters have a lifespan and she peaked but probably we'd all seen enough of her. I didn't like her queue jumping or that she turned her back on Phil. That's how I saw it anyway.

MoonBugs · 02/12/2025 17:57

Something about her makes me cringe, or gives me the ick, not her personaly, just her presenting style seems a bit patronising.
But I have nothing against her, shes just not my cup of tea.
I do think a lot of the public hate towards her is excessive though and rooted in misogyny.
It’s ok just not to like her, without having to villainise her to justify not liking her.

LBFseBrom · 02/12/2025 18:08

I didn't know she was disliked (nor did I know anyone messaged underage boys inappropriately).

People in her sort of job often have a heyday and then fade. Dislike is a bit strong for someone who has done no harm but we all know how the media love to build people up and then bring them down.

kierenthecommunity · 02/12/2025 18:10

houseofisms · 02/12/2025 17:41

She got done for dangerous driving and braking someone’s neck/back can’t remember which all she got as punishment was 6 points!

She was charged with driving without due care and attention. It’s still not great as someone was badly hurt but it’s no where near as serious as dangerous driving. And by all accounts she stopped and got help, admitted it, was remorseful etc.

She wouldn’t have had to go to court if she pleaded guilty by post.

So I don’t think she can be loathed for this incident as most people have some sort of RTC at least once in their life.

Her gushing about ‘I have never been so proud of my best friend’ when Phil came out on the other hand. That was cringeworthy.

Didn’t she tell him she’d be by his side forever and ever too? That aged well 🤣

Tessisme · 02/12/2025 18:11

Flauwa · 02/12/2025 16:58

But I doubt she’s the one who wrote that. Probably came from a producer

Possibly. But that’s almost worse. ‘Here Holly, just read out this pile of old sycophantic shite if you want people to still like you.’ She would have been better riding it out I reckon. To be honest, the only time I ever saw her on TV was when I went to my late mum’s house. I always thought she came across well. I certainly didn’t have any negative feelings towards her. But the overblown sincerity on that message was hard to watch. She’s a terrible actress😅

It was the "Are you alright?" Skin-crawling line/speech on This Morning to the public when it all blew-up!!

Her and PS BOTH got too big for their boots!! (& yeah the mistake ref: losing the Queen was awful too).
He also made a scathing remark about a woman live on a help-line call to the programme, she must've been mortified! I was FOR her.

Holly Willoughby was so sickly sweet. Glad she went off screen. Really hope she doesn't get Strictly.🤞🏻😩

lovescats3 · 02/12/2025 18:15

Queue gate, comes across as fake, smug and thick, really hope she doesn't get the strictly job as it will ruin the programme
