To ask why exactly is Holly Willoughby so disliked these days?

Flauwa · 02/12/2025 14:37

No I’m not Holly or a member of her pr team.

I just don’t get why HW is so massively disliked these days. She doesn’t appear to have done anything wrong. But her presenting career has obviously taken a huge knock.

HW wasn’t the one messaging underage boys. We have no evidence to suggest she was aware of it. So why has she basically been banished?

Is this another example of women paying for men’s mistakes?

Im on a group chat and a nasty-ish comment was made about Holly and I just don’t get why.

So BBC has published the story this evening... leaving out, what I think, are crucial details: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cq5qw1dve46o

It's so obvious she is going to Strictly - already protecting one of their own.

That is very bizarre reporting.

It's absolutely ridiculous to bother reporting it at all, but miss out the fact that whilst being careless she hit someone with her car.

If she is going to be working for the bbc that reporting reflects seriously badly on them.

Totally agree with you - it was almost like a stump news post - why bother if you're not going to report the full story? But I think their hand was forced somewhere... hence why they did the bare minimum. A semblance of impartiality that can be drawn on later with a time and date stamp.

They're making loads of questionable journalistic choices currently though. The turmoil is evident. And I'm genuinely a fan of their remit... they're just not currently... remitting!

tramtracks · 03/12/2025 00:09

The general consensus is that she knew. Didn’t say anything about it at the time as it would be potentially hurtful to her career. Then threw PS completely under (the well deserved) bus to try and save her own career. Whether any of this is true doesn’t actually matter now as the perception is what matters .

life is pretty cruel in the spotlight.

Yes, I know a number of people who worked on the shows she worked on, and they said she was lovely. Perfectly nice, easy going, and a good laugh. 2 relatives of mine worked closely with her.

Funny how she was so different with others isn't it?

I think people just love to really pour shit and shade on her now because it suits, because she's not flavour of the month now. Human nature. Kick people when they're down. Not a nice trait.

We get it, some of you hate her. Don't expect others to, just because YOU do.

I think you're deluding yourself. We don't give a toss whether or not you like her. We just have personal experience that has made us not like her.

You can be her fan girl as much as you like, it's no skin off my nose...

I just think her and Phil's time was up. It was all getting a bit smug regardless of any shenanigans that were going on. They were a bit long in the tooth and needed to move on. IMO a lot of these presenters seem to cling on for dear life. I think 5 years on the TV and then get off the stage and let someone else have a go. Apart from Ant and Dec who I thonk are genuinely geniuses at presenting. They never get stale. The rest just end up everywhere and it just gets tedious..

I think she is a good presenter. I do not watch day time tv and never have but have seen her on clips and on other things and she has always been fine, she isn’t asking taxing questions as that hasn’t been her role neither does she make it about herself. She is always pleasant and professional

I never liked Celebrity Juice it’s so degrading to women but she apparently felt empowered by it, though it is her husband’s production company behind it so empowered financially

maybe she was on tv too much it happens with presenters but of course women are ridiculed more

She started off ok but later did make it about herself. Phone ins from viewers would end up about her, got her kids to write to the Queen and read them out on tv, costumes for things like halloween turned into the Holly show.

She had enough influence to say can we spread the budget so Alison and Alice also get a decent outfit too, but as long as she looked great, didn't care about anyone else.

Cosied up to Alison when her star was fading, Alison mentioned she'd never been invited out with Holly in all the years of working together prior.

Sadly, I have personal experience of her and like PP, was surprised and disappointed at how far off her TM image she is.

She's been nice in person, but clearly an act she can't keep up as more often than not, comes off rude and entitled.

I think she took a step back as she was being stalked, and it was discovered there was a kidnap plot against her; it was all quite sinister.

She knocked a moped driver over, who fractured his neck, poor sod. She took full responsibility immediately at the scene and in court, admitting to driving without due care and attention.

Anyhoo, I have no feelings about her either way honestly, but apparently she's the favourite to get the Strictly job when Claudia and Tess leave.

She didn't even go to court.
She pleaded guilty by letter

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 03/12/2025 09:47

Ant crashed into a car with a woman and a child in it, and did hurt them. She received as much injury as the man on the motorbike who Holly hit.

I'm not defending Ant but I don't remember any of the people involved in that crash having broken any bones at all, let alone in their neck. Doubtless that was more by luck than judgement.

MusicMakesItAllBetter · 03/12/2025 07:34

This

Yeah, Holly didn't break anybody's neck either. 🙄

As I said earlier...

This is the kind of thing this thread is about. Pure fake news and OTT Daily Mail type click bait, to make the public froth even more in their Holly Willoughby witch-hunt ...

She hit a motorcyclist with her car, ACCIDENTALLY, but she was deemed to be at fault, and was fined for driving without due care and attention. The man has a broken bone in his neck and he hurt his toe. He did not have any life altering or life threatening injuries. 🙄

Ant crashed into a car with a woman and a child in it, and did hurt them. She received as much injury as the man on the motorbike who Holly hit.

But hey, why let FACTS get in the way of a good bashing of a beautiful, successful woman eh? Wink

I'm out. The OP's point has been proven spectacularly, 100%.

She knocked someone off their scooter and broke their neck. That's not very wholesome.

But it was also an accident. I’m no great fan or anything but road accident Happen.

Muffsies · 02/12/2025 15:13

I have always found her and Schofield to be really fake "trying too hard" types. Once Schofield got in trouble she dropped him like a stone and the pretence was over. It's quite clear that they never were friends at all and she was just livid that his behaviour negatively affected her image (which was all built on a fake relationship).

It's no loss, the pair of them were insufferable, and I'm glad we don't have to put up with all that contrived banter forced giggling any more.

and remember the 'hangovers' after the National Television Awards...

As long as it was inflicted by a “beautiful, successful woman”

This is a bit ironic when you are insisting that the people in Ants crash were injured to the same degree as Holly's. Which isn't true.

Except it hasn't. OP asked why Holly is not liked and people are giving reasons why they don't like her.

You mentioned earlier that you don't have to dislike her just because other people do, well, it works both ways.

Just because you like her doesn't mean everyone else has to.

Don't take it so personally.

AmberRose86 · 03/12/2025 11:10

We also don’t have to like her just because she is a woman

I always felt like the whole Phill & Holly best friendship was fake and turns out I was right, as they claimed to go on family holidays together, when he was in the closet, preferring to be with the runner than his spouse. At first I always felt like he was trying to recreate the fun that Fern brought when she giggled, but it wasn't fun with Holly. I felt Holly was vapid and still more suited to children's TV after years on TM. I couldn't believe Holly had been on the show for so long. Phil insisted Holly get the job after he drove away Fern, as Fern gave away hints. Such as look up the 'Fern Britton dunking beef' video.

In contrast, Josie Gibson and Alison feel like real people and are more interesting interviewers.

Do you mean Ant from Ant & Dec? I can't stand him either. No personality, no presenting skills, looks or intelligence, but incredibly lucky to get the jobs he has, and held up by his more talented partner, but he still ruins it with substance ab use.

GumFossil · 14/12/2025 21:58

I like both Ant and Dec. They’re excellent presenters imo.
