correct me if I have missed anything here on this… but has the news gone quiet on the woman who was attacked unprovoked in Birmingham? Do we know who done it?!

Why is your title “Birmingham Attack Gone Quiet?!” when it’s on the front page of the BBC app? Are you trying to imply some kind of cover up? Just out of curiosity, what part of Birmingham is your family located?

Fml 🤦🏻‍♀️

No answer? Why not just Google it? Anybody would think you were posting just to cause an enormous bunfight. And you haven’t actually said which part of Birmingham your relatives, whose safety you are so concerned about, live.

ShenandoahRiver · 08/11/2025 23:59

If you can ask on MN you can check news websites @AlwaysHopefull89?
Nothing has ‘gone quiet’, a man has been charged with multiple offences.

Why on earth would I tell you the exact area of Birmingham where my family live? Confused To say they live in ‘Birmingham’ was more than enough to confirm why I was even raising this question. Im not responsible for how people react.

As mentioned I’ve checked and couldn’t find anything, I’ve checked other news websites and also no luck.

I assumed you meant the Oldbury murder. I didn’t know there had been two separate incidents of women stabbed in the neck in thr Birmingham area.

ShenandoahRiver · 09/11/2025 00:05

I just searched Birmingham stabbing - bbc, sky, independent, guardian, West Midlands police - it’s all there.

Third article down on the guardian website. Fifth article on the bbc website. Less than half a page scroll down.

Sorry op, not an immigrant. Better luck next time

I'm not sure why you'd jump to that conclusion. My inference from the OP was that she was suggesting media interest wanes if the perpetrator isn't an immigrant.

ShenandoahRiver · 09/11/2025 00:12

@ChattyGeePeaTea
There has been no waning of interest thankfully. This horrific crime is being fully reported on.

This has scared the shit out of me, that poor woman literally just waiting for a bus. I was out in Birmingham last night and because I am now more worried about safety caught the train home from New St Station at 9.20, but entered from the other side so didn't see this.

There but for the grace of god we go. I really hope she makes a full recovery and he gets a decent sentence.

Women seem to be the easy pickings currently.

There was that man who was a dog walker too, also barely mentioned anywhere, chased down and slaughtered for taking a dog for a walk.

By the by, all the screeching about the Daily mail is known as the "genetic fallacy". When someone can't fight the facts or the argument they try to diss the source.

If you see something in the Daily Mail (which, no, I don't read) and are unsure about about its credentials it is the work of moments to check other sources.

But musnetters do like to pretend to be superior.

I just went to the BBC, ITV, Guardian front page on all of them. It was also front page of the Daily Mail too.

A suspicious person would think that the op had deliberately started a thread about this to whip up a frenzy about who the attacker might be.

jackdunnock · 09/11/2025 00:16

AlwaysHopefull89 · 08/11/2025 23:43

do we know why this happened though ? It’s saying it was unprovoked? I do have family in Birmingham so this is just so worrying.

I do hope the woman makes a drastic recovery this is absolutely horrendous.

My first guess would be gang initiation. If not that then another nutter/mental breakdown like last weekend.

nomas · 09/11/2025 00:18

Just googling ‘who was b’ham stabber” would have answered op’s question, not sure why she only went to the DM.

sleepwouldbenice · 09/11/2025 00:24

I agree. Clear case of implying a cover up
and who the heck uses the DM as a clear source of truth…

Yes, I can see that it is on the main page of the BBC, Graun, Indie, Mail, but not the Times or Telegraph. What a good thing that the Telegraph managed to make space for yet more coverage of the accidentally released and now re-arrested Algerian offender though. Phew.

This is a horrible crime and I suspect coverage will just fade away now that we know the offender is British. I would love every crime of violence against women to get the same amount of daily update attention that the wrongful release of Kebatu attracted. I was at the FiLiA vigil for murdered women a month or so ago and many of those women had barely attracted a headline. I find it so depressing that some news outlets only care about these crimes if a migrant is accused of them.

BluntPlumHam · 09/11/2025 00:28

AlwaysHopefull89 · 08/11/2025 23:27

Glad it wasn’t.. Confused

There have been two racially aggravated rapes in Bham that the news has gone ‘quiet’ on. Why don’t you make a thread on that op?

Washingbasquait · 09/11/2025 00:32

Regarding the comment above about women, aren’t men statistically more likely to be the victim of violent crime, particularly violence from strangers?

Yes, from other men.

Cheetolady · 09/11/2025 00:37

probably just a nutter OP. I’m from brum and the state of services are dire. Shame on the tories for leaving such a legacy, it’s going to be almost impossible for Labour to clean their mess up

Why would you assume the motive and reason of the OP? That's racist in itself.

Male on male violence just proves that males are violent and a problem. Not women.

People suffering with mental health problems are not "nutters" as you so charmingly put it.

Stigmatising language around mental health really matters.
