Birmingham attack gone quiet ?!

correct me if I have missed anything here on this… but has the news gone quiet on the woman who was attacked unprovoked in Birmingham? Do we know who done it?!

The issue here which is not talked about enough is the shameful provision of mental health support. Resources are stretched very thin. As a result, warning signs that someone is very unwell and may harm themselves or others are often missed, or where they are spotted action is not taken at all or not taken quickly enough.

There have been two racially aggravated rapes in Bham that the news has gone ‘quiet’ on. Why don’t you make a thread on that op?

These were absolutely horrific. The first one she was just walking to work in the morning and was pulled onto grassland. The second one she was followed home by him, he broke in and subjected her to a traumatic attack. Both females were Sikh. The first one in Oldbury was Racially Aggravated. The second one was Religiously Aggravated. I don't let my teenage daughter go anywhere alone now, what a scary time to live through when you can be raped for being non white

Some of the replies on here are so sneery and embarrassing.
Get a life.
A race to be the most condescending... always the same posters too.

The government have form for covering things up remember. I don’t see an issue with someone questioning it?
And it did go quiet for a period and I too wondered why.

Why does ‘Mental Health’ involve stabbing people? I have a diagnosed condition due to past trauma and I do not stab people as a result. For me it feels like an excuse and a way of getting people to move on. Nothing to see here.

I would imagine drugs - probably strong cannabis - was involved.

There’s a growing epidemic of young people taking very strong cannabis which over time induces psychosis.

I worry government isn’t taking this seriously at all. Instead you’ve got idiots on the left pushing for full decriminalisation of cannabis.

What has the government covered up in your opinion?

Right I’ve completely missed then thanks!! I checked the daily mail and couldn’t see anything Blush

It wasn't an asylum seeker so they wouldn't be interested. Why did you only check the DM?

reem123 · 09/11/2025 08:43

These things always go quiet unless it’s an immigrant or Muslim.

EsmaCannonball · 09/11/2025 08:51

I'm heartily sick of 'mental health issues.' Some people are just raised to be callous, violent, sadistic bastards. Other people are nothing to them. They face no sanctions from their parents, their schools, the police or the criminal justice system. Even if they kill someone they are tiptoed around in prison and then released early to unleash destruction on the public again. Their 'mental health issue' is they've been allowed to get away with every single bit of bad behaviour all their life.

The “?!” community. People who pretend to be simply asking for information on a potentially sensitive topic, but are obviously being disingenuous.

The ! After the ? Sets it apart from being just a question. The exclamation mark is pretty intentional.

Where you can be raped for being ‘non white’ alongside being raped for being ‘white and in a children’s home?’ Yep. It’s a disgusting world for sure. All done by men remember - of all colours and religions. Always a man.

That’s literally talked about ALL THE TIME by those excusing violent offenders. Literally all the time on every thread.

You’re not allowed to suggest that on mumsnet. All young men are habitually smoking strong cannabis and it’s not more prevalent in any demographic apparently.

Another thing you are not allowed to say. No personal responsibility required in this safe space.

bignewprinz · 09/11/2025 09:32

@EsmaCannonball it really depends what sort of MH issue you are referring to? The conversation in this thread is really focusing on paranoid delusions, which is a severe presentation.

The argument for someone with a known history of psychosis who refuses to take preventative medication, being given a more severe punishment, is a good one.

The man who went on a killing spree in Nottingham. The woman who murdered a 7yo girl in a Bolton park. They both failed to medicate themselves. But there were systematic failures of MH services in those cases, so the safeguards didn't work. They need to kick in BEFORE the violence occurs and we shouldn't let the state get away with underfunding.

I am saying (you could read my previous posts in this thread) that the assumption on here with the massive constant gas lighting that goes on when discussing violent crime ……. Is……. Is this crime perpetrated by an illegal immigrant? No. Then they MUST be mentally ill. Case closed.

We know absolutely nothing about this man aside from the fact that he didn’t come to England on a small boat. The press haven’t released any further info aside from a name and whatever a ‘British National’ means (I assume it means he was born here or has a passport). Anyway the assumption that he must have a mental illness immediately deflects away from any personal responsibility as a starting point.

Why don’t we normalise starting at the point where the blame lies with the man with the knife stabbing someone and work backwards.

Whatnowsheila · 09/11/2025 09:46

Duckie2025 · 09/11/2025 00:13

There was that man who was a dog walker too, also barely mentioned anywhere, chased down and slaughtered for taking a dog for a walk.

By the by, all the screeching about the Daily mail is known as the "genetic fallacy". When someone can't fight the facts or the argument they try to diss the source.

If you see something in the Daily Mail (which, no, I don't read) and are unsure about about its credentials it is the work of moments to check other sources.

But musnetters do like to pretend to be superior.

That’s not what genetic fallacy is.

Who is stopping these things being said? I can see both the posts on this still. You seem determined to find some kind of conspiracy here…

The bunch of frothing posters who pile onto every thread closing down discussion in exactly the same way this thread went at the beginning.

First we have accusations of not being a genuine poster or posting in bad faith

Then accusations of some sort of right wing agenda as they have the temerity to have consulted the Daily Mail at any point

After that racism will be either be inferred or outright claimed.

Nothingbutstress · 09/11/2025 09:51

There are higher levels of mental health issues amongst the black community. Higher levels of schizophrenia etc. This is a fact. Many mentally ill people are allowed to wonder round unchecked and unmedicated. I often see them in Birmingham city centre shouting, swearing and waving their arms around. I am sadly not surprised that there has been an attack. A young girl was murdered on the bus to school in Birmingham some years ago by a schizophrenic black man. The government is not willing to address the issue. They seem to think that handing someone some pills will fix them. But nobody checks that these people take medication. Many of them smoke weed or have other issues that make them worse. Some people should not be walking free and they put innocent people at risk.

I do not believe that it is gaslighting in any way to suggest that poor mental health provision lies at the heart of many recent incidents. I agree it is too early to reach any conclusion on the attack in Birmingham. However, without support and adequate monitoring mental health issues do result in self harm and harm to other people. In theory if a high risk service user does not take their meds persistently then they should be sectioned. In practice it does not happen. Just saying x person is a wrong un and we will lock them up means we stand little chance in preventing a reoccurrence. The equivalent of putting the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff after people have jumped rather than at the top to stop them doing so.

Do you have the statistics to prove those claims though? In other threads those claims get shut down as racism.

I’ll accept all of that if the starting point on the thread doesn’t jump straight to mental health. It absolves the individual entirely.
