Why does Taylor Swift fall out with everyone?

I've never known anyone so famous for ditching people and then writing songs about them. Why is she so popular? She seems utterly toxic to me.

Not offended in the slightest, I found your comment genuinely hilarious.

ETA - also, just to be clear, I have never in my life bullied or looked down on anyone for not liking the same things I do, but it doesn’t sound like you can say the same, what with how you’ve made the effort to come here and say how boooooooooring you find Taylor Swift and her bland music compared to the indie records that are much cooler than hers

Edited

Glad I’ve been of service.

How weird
You say that as though you are sop proud and superior
I have friends who are communists and very right and totally not interested
I understand that everyone is entitled to a different opinion and has different perspectives based on their own experiences backgrounds etc

Oh my days! Not ... not ... communists?! screams 🙄

She was very much endorsing the democrats and is now strongly associated with multiple MAGA supporters.

Aside from her fiance playing football with Mahomes who are the other MAGA supporters she is associating with?

BeeDavis · 17/10/2025 12:46

She exploits the naivety of people around her, that’s why.

Perhaps you’re not aware of how you come across. I’ve not used the words cool or indie. TS and her music and style doesn’t excite me that’s all. You’re actually upsetting me now so I’d appreciate you take your ire elsewhere.

NoOneToTextWhenThePlaneLands · 17/10/2025 09:59

Yes I am very proud of that. MAGA stands for everything I am against. They are against human rights for vast swathes of the population and they are against reproductive rights for women, amongst other things. People who believe in that are not people I want to be associated with.

Very few people or political parties are all good or all bad. This black / white thinking is pretty bigoted and harmful in itself.

Trump's done some bad things, of course, but it looks like he also might have achieved peace in the Palestine / Israel war. It's amazing to me that some people - including people who've been attending rallies and protesting the war - aren't celebrating the saving of lives and ceasefire just because of who's done it. And there are definitely those people. It makes me wonder if their purpose in their 'activism' about Gaza wasn't really about something else, to be honest.

Edited to add: Trump himself I think is quietly actually quite pro-choice despite many in the party being otherwise. He was going to vote pro-choice in the Florida vote originally.

[Verse 1]
No words appear before me in the aftermath
Salt streams out my eyes and into my ears
Every single thing I touch becomes sick with sadness
'Cause it's all over now, all out to sea

[Chorus]
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
You were bigger than the whole sky
You were more than just a short time
And I've got a lot to pine about
I've got a lot to live without
I'm never gonna meet
What could've been, would've been
What should've been you
What could've been, would've been you

[Verse 2]
Did some bird flap its wings ovеr in Asia?
Did some force take you bеcause I didn't pray?
Every single thing to come has turned into ashes
'Cause it's all over, it's not meant to be
So I'll say words I don't believe

[Bridge]
What could've been, would've been you
What could've been, would've been
What should've been you
What could've been, would've been you
(What could've been, would've been you)

If you can't comprehend that this is clearly about a miscarriage then I guess you should go back to GCSE English Literature classes or something.

I found this line- “salt streams out my eyes and into my ears” - so heartbreakingly specific.

Because how often, when you cry, do your tears go into your ears? For your tears to go into your ears you need to be lying on your back, which it isn’t natural to do whilst crying because crying and sobbing engages your abdominal muscles. So normally if you’re crying you’re sitting upright, or lying on your side, or curled up in a ball.

But when might you be crying whilst lying on your back? At an antenatal scan, where you’re learning that you’ve miscarried.

I mean God, people can accuse her of being bland but I think she’s a fucking brilliant songwriter.

I was quoting a TS lyric but clearly that flew over your head!

Is it possible that you don’t know how you come across, as really quite haughty and superior, looking down on us for liking bland, boring Taylor Swift and those girls you went to school with for liking New Kids On The Block? The disdain is palpable.

ImSoJulia · 17/10/2025 12:57

The Mahomes are MAGA up to their eyeballs. That doesn't mean Swift and Kelce are. Personally I'm sure she isn't, and he probably used to be but isn't now. I think she's still friends with Blake but keeping it low key for their sanity. Charli XCX is polar opposite to her (and also fantastic), a clash of personalities resulting in two great songs isn't the end of the world. I shouldn't be so over invested in this stuff.

It's not an election year so she has no need to make any political statements. She doesn't like Trump and Vance and they don't like her. Taylor will be playing a long game here as she usually does. She will also have been advised to tread very cautiously with regards to public statements after Vienna and Southport, for her safety and of her fans.

Thundertoast · 17/10/2025 12:58

NoOneToTextWhenThePlaneLands · 17/10/2025 11:35

kelce (her fiance) and Mahomes (her new bestie) are both MAGA.

Evidence that Kelce is MAGA please, you've had numerous people on this thread ask and you've not given any actual evidence.
'Her new bestie' would you think im shagging my boss because we spend 40 hours a week together? The LEAPS you are making. She's nice to people even if she disagrees with them politically. I despise Trump but thats to be admired! You have no idea or evidence that her views have changed, and the only facts we do have is that she was at one point a registered democratic who spoke out against Trump. If you have facts, id be very interested to hear about them, but being nice to someone who votes differently to you is not evidence you have changed political leanings.

fcktonoclingfilm · 17/10/2025 12:59

I quite like TS - she wrote a song that was very moving about her Mom having cancer too. Had me in tears.

I've read she's a very good employer and always gives bonuses to people like the truck drivers who make her concerts possible.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 17/10/2025 13:00

I feel like this is all the outcome of people investing too much in someone who is famous for being a singer and songwriter, not a politician or any sort of sage/ philosopher.

Shes good at writing songs and singing them/ performing them.

Can’t that be enough?

I’m not that interested in her politics tbh Obviously I wouldn’t listen to someone whose views were abhorrent (if they chose to make me aware of their views, as so many seem to do) but I’m not aware that TS in particular had actually announced any right wing views.

But I’m also aware that by the time her music - or any other artist’s music - has trickled along to me as a middle aged person they’re unlikely to be considered cool any more.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 17/10/2025 13:02

Also - how are we pronouncing Kelce? Is it Kelsey with a weird spelling or something else?

I can’t stand TS, end of. You’re clearly a big fan, just leave it shall we. It’s not a good look for you and your fellow fans it’s just very bitchy to us not in your superior gang, you’re like a dog with a bone.

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 17/10/2025 13:06

ladybirdsanchez · 17/10/2025 12:27

What? I was asking an honest question. I'm not part of the demographic that listens to her music, I don't have DDs and I honestly have no opinion on her, but in various media I've seen many stories over the years about her falling out with this person and that person and writing songs about them and so I was asking why she does that. And from that you write this batshit post 😂

You clearly do have an opinion of her though don’t you?!

You: “Miss Swift presents as a sort of predictable unexciting simple singer of dull artistry. Her hair is so boring, her stage outfits a tired overdone middle of the road mainstream borefest. I do in my defence have a strong musical taste for new and exciting artists”

And now you’re calling me superior. Come on now…

This says more about your intolerance of other people’s views than it does Taylor Swift. I have friends with a range of political views, some of which have absolutely no bearing on my own.

NoOneToTextWhenThePlaneLands · 17/10/2025 10:17

Not when you’re a billionaire.

MAGA aside, she is incredibly exploitative of her fans and she flies everywhere in a private jet.

Hahah you’re weird and determined to find something to be sort about. Classic professional victim hood.

Goodluck with your wonderful life 😂

Idea for a thread:

‘If you’ve clearly asked a name calling harrier to stop upsetting you and to leave you alone yet they still keep on pick pick picking does that make them a bully?’

Asking for a friend.

Eh? Plenty of people have cried in bed and had tears go all their face and into their ears because of things that are nothing to do with miscarriage.

AngeloMysterioso · 17/10/2025 13:16

Another idea for a thread: if you make an incendiary comment slagging off someone very popular as bland, boring and dull whilst suggesting your tastes are more refined, and then claim a fan of that person is a bully when they hold up a mirror and you don’t like what you see, does that make you a hypocrite?

Idea for a thread: "I said something with a sneering tone that implied my taste was superior and continued to engage repeatedly on the topic. Is everyone else BU to challenge me on it?"

(I'm not the person who was replying to you, but come on. It's fine that you don't like her and that you're oh-so-cultured, but then.... don't engage with threads about her then? You wouldn't wander into a cafe and start shouting about how coffee is shit and then get upset people disagreed with you, would you?)
