Why does Taylor Swift fall out with everyone?

I've never known anyone so famous for ditching people and then writing songs about them. Why is she so popular? She seems utterly toxic to me.

I thought so, too.

Just because she has a fiancé who plays American football doesn’t make her a MAGA supporter (and nor does it make him one - no idea tbh).

She’s one of the most famous women on the planet so she’s going to be gossiped about, frequently inaccurately.

Quite - Colin Kaepernick also “hung out with people who support MAGA”, if by that you mean “billionaire football team owners”. I don’t think anyone is suggesting he wax pro-Trump.

This is an example of the sort of thing I’m on about. She even fails the interesting hair test.

Mainstream has its place. The stuff you smugly tell yourself is edgy wouldn’t be so if everyone liked it. They’re doing you a favour by listening to TS so that you can keep all the cool artists to yourself.

Yes indeed and I’m not knocking others enjoying her style or music, I’m giving my opinion which isn’t to change anyone else’s mind or cause upset. I’m not a fan of Madonna or Kylie either I was just using them as examples of other mainstream female international singers. I don’t appreciate being called smug for expressing my personal taste, I’m not calling you or her fans names in fact I find it very bitchy, which perhaps raises the question of such fans character traits.

nam3c4ang3 · 17/10/2025 12:08

I’m not sure TS cares what you think about her so much 😂 - I like some of her songs - I don’t care who she supports politically - she’s very talented. Don’t buy her stuff or listen to her stuff if you don’t like her - easy. (I would never pay £££ for her concert btw)

AngeloMysterioso · 17/10/2025 12:14

I went to the Eras tour at Wembley and paid £110 for a general standing ticket. Face value. It was a three hour show. Supported by Paramore who I also love. People bitched about how expensive tickets to her shows were…

General standing to see Queens of the Stone Age at the Tottenham FC stadium next year are £160. They are nowhere near her level and I very much doubt the production will be on the same scale, but I’ve yet to see any articles written or threads started about what greedy arseholes those guys are…

Find me a 35 yo woman who hasn't had a few unpleasant break-ups or ever fallen out with anyone. Especially when the media magnifies and stirs up a massive incident at every tiny hint of a souring of a previously amicable acquaintanceship.

As a fan, no-one has held me down and forced me to buy anything. I bought one LOASG CD for myself and another or my best friend- I don't have most of the other albums because we only have a CD player in the car. If other people want to buy 8 copies of vinyls in different colours, despite not owning a turn table, then that's their shout, I might think they are silly for it but I know a lot of people who consider them Swifties and not one of them has done that. It's a small minority of people with more money than sense.

She is not a politician and no-one has a right to expect her to be one. She's stated clearly in the last 2 elections that she is voting Democrat.

Her music and branding, including her videos and tours, have demonstrated that she's inclusive of all races, disabilities, body sizes, genders and sexualities. She also gives generously to charities, without fanfare or big announcements- the media usually finds out because the receiving body tells them, not from her. Her relationship with Trump- bitter hatred on both sides- is well documented.

If people want to do wild mental gymnastics to try to make out that someone who has repeatedly supported people of all colours and creeds is some sort of Nazi then that's on them. I'd better not see them in the Ticketmaster queue for her next tour.

It was said best by a WOC that I follow on threads who said (and I'm paraphrasing a bit) "If you don't like a bitch, just say it, stop pretending that it's because you care about POC. Black women aren't props to support your latest hate campaign."

I’m not a fan, I don’t like her voice or her music and I don’t think she really knows who she is. I think she’s a girlie girl who may not have energy for non likeminded other women and any conflicted interests. I’m going to stick my two penneth in and suggest unlike elder peers such as Madonna or Kylie as a lesser extent who have dabbled in different musical genres and artistic forms with a gumption and chameleonic intent, Miss Swift presents as a sort of predictable unexciting simple singer of dull artistry. Her hair is so boring, her stage outfits a tired overdone middle of the road mainstream borefest. I do in my defence have a strong musical taste for new and exciting artists so I appreciate I am more critical than some people. I just feel she’s happy to click her fingers and if things don’t her way she slams the door on you. I await comments on how nasty I am!

This is the kind of pretentiousness that sitcom characters are based on 😂 “I have a strong musical preference for new and exciting artists” oooooooooooh get you!!

TheWiseAmethyst · 17/10/2025 12:16

I couldn't possibly be friends with a Taylor Swift fan. I would have to question their intelligence and cut them off immediately if they confessed to liking her or enjoying her music!

Is there anyone else in that category or just Taylor Swift?

Uptightmumma · 17/10/2025 12:20

Donald trump Twitter around 7am how he didn’t like Taylor swift. This was then a line from her song “need to calm down” doesn’t look like a trump supporter to me

I can only apologise for offending you. I can’t help who I am or for art I enjoy, perhaps you could accept we are all different although you do remind me of the girls at school who bitched and laughed whilst pushing me about because I liked Transvision Vamp aged 12 instead of new kids on the block. I hope you have a good day.

I agree- mine was £90 for seated. £30 an hour for that level of show was pretty good imo- I've paid similar for a West End musical. Unlike Oasis, she refused dynamic pricing.

People saying her tickets were too expensive are most likely referring to the scalpers who were selling them at thousands. There does need to be stricter laws to protect people from scalpers and I would support a system where the lead person attending has to be specified at the time of booking. If it's a group booking they might choose the guests closer to the time but it would stop the touting.

Anti-Swifties are hilarious, aren't they!? So 'not like other girls'. I say this as someone who doesn't really enjoy Taylor's music. I just don't make such a big deal of not liking it.

I like her music. Just not a fan of who she seems to be as a person.

It's a good thing I like my friends cancelled
(You know that) I like 'em cloaked in Gucci and in scandal
I like my whiskey sour
And poison thorny flowers (ooh)
Yeah, it's a good thing I like my friends cancelled (cancelled)
I salute you if you're much too much to handle
Like my whiskey sour (I like it)
And poison thorny flowers (I love it)
Can't you see my infamy loves company?
Now they've broken you like they've broken me
But a shattered glass is a lot more sharp
And now you know exactly who your friends are
You know who we are
We're the ones with matching scars

She wrote a song to explain, HTH

Why does it bother you 'what she's like as a person'? This parasocial nonsense has got way, way out of control. You don't know her, none of us do. I will challenge people who say she is Maga or a Nazi, not because I'm some super fan but because I think false narratives are dangerous and how really dangerous people get into power.

This!

It's the weekIy Taylor Swift bashing thread. 😂

We get it @ladybirdsanchez you don't like her and are envious of her, and a little bit bitter that she is enormously successful. No-one who's famous gets as much shade as Taylor Swift for her success. NO-ONE. Even on Mumsnet some people have an irrational disliking of her. It's so weird! Some people dislike her and they don't even know why!

There's a heck of a lot of 'just how DARE a beautiful, upper middle class, white woman be so powerful, successful, rich, and talented?!' 😱

An awful lot of bitterness and jealousy against her from some people. And she does not 'fall out with people.' She just doesn't take any shit, and deals with people who try and fuck her over.

So what the actual heck are you on about?! 😆

She is smart and savvy and fucking ballsy and assertive. And some people don't like this from a woman. Wink

What? I was asking an honest question. I'm not part of the demographic that listens to her music, I don't have DDs and I honestly have no opinion on her, but in various media I've seen many stories over the years about her falling out with this person and that person and writing songs about them and so I was asking why she does that. And from that you write this batshit post 😂

It wasn’t about miscarriage.

a few songs for nice things don’t erase a lot of what she’s done.

[Verse 1]
No words appear before me in the aftermath
Salt streams out my eyes and into my ears
Every single thing I touch becomes sick with sadness
'Cause it's all over now, all out to sea

[Chorus]
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
You were bigger than the whole sky
You were more than just a short time
And I've got a lot to pine about
I've got a lot to live without
I'm never gonna meet
What could've been, would've been
What should've been you
What could've been, would've been you

[Verse 2]
Did some bird flap its wings ovеr in Asia?
Did some force take you bеcause I didn't pray?
Every single thing to come has turned into ashes
'Cause it's all over, it's not meant to be
So I'll say words I don't believe

[Bridge]
What could've been, would've been you
What could've been, would've been
What should've been you
What could've been, would've been you
(What could've been, would've been you)

If you can't comprehend that this is clearly about a miscarriage then I guess you should go back to GCSE English Literature classes or something.

The media makes stuff up.

It’s ok to say that when it’s about something like illegal immigrants but not about TS apparently. Everything they report on her is obviously 100% accurate.

I am a TS fan. Do I know for a fact what her politics are or what she is like as a friend, no of course not. Does it bother me? Nope I still went to the Eras tour and had a great time, I will still go to the next tour if there is one and I’m still going to spend the weekend learning the Fate of Ophelia dance with DD.

PleaseStopEatingMyStuff · 17/10/2025 12:33

Having boundaries with people is healthy. From what I can gather (admittedly I don't follow her or anything) she only falls out with people who act a bit shitty towards her. And then maybe uses some of those experiences to write very popular songs. Fair play to her.

Not offended in the slightest, I found your comment genuinely hilarious.

ETA - also, just to be clear, I have never in my life bullied or looked down on anyone for not liking the same things I do, but it doesn’t sound like you can say the same, what with how you’ve made the effort to come here and say how boooooooooring you find Taylor Swift and her bland music compared to the indie records that are much cooler than hers
