To ask how much you think I weigh?

I’m genuinely just curious. My hairdresser said she thought I’m a good 2-3 stone lighter than I actually am, so it got me thinking!

I agree with this. I'm 5 foot 2 and have been everything from 8 stone 4 to my now 13 stone as an adult. At 8 stone 4 I had concerned friends and family gently asking me if I were anorexic and implore me not to lose any more weight. (I had gone down from 11 stone). I remember once walking along in a shopping centre and seeing a woman in shorts walking towards me. I was staring at her legs in utter shock thinking 'That woman really needs to eat something' when I nearly smacked into a mirror. Because I did not know it was me, I was seeing my legs honestly, not through a body dysmorphia lens like I usually do.

My 'comfortable' weight is about 10 stone 10. That's a weight I don't have to fight every day to maintain once I am there. 10 stone 7 is when people start telling me I am looking too slim. I have a very large frame- stocky like a shetland pony really- what people used to call ;big bones'. That may have something to do with it.

And that’s fine, the op is five foot 4. No one says she or you need to be at the bottom of the healthy bmi range, it is a wide range for a very good reason, diffeeent body make ups, different ethnicities etc. if you prefer clinically overweight, this is also fine. No one is coming to your door shouting you need to lose a few.

BlindSpotForCats · 12/10/2025 13:19

@Charlenedickens I'm just chatting.

mraladdinsir · 12/10/2025 13:22

I’d say 9-10 stone 11 at an absolute push.

Please read the thread. OP weighs almost 16 stone.

Rowgtfc72 · 12/10/2025 13:26

I'm 5cm taller than you but the same weight.
People assume I weigh 13/14 st.
Are you reasonably muscular? That's how I manage to carry my weight.

estrogone · 12/10/2025 13:28

15st

CrystalShoe · 12/10/2025 13:33

I haven't read the OP's replies yet. OP, if you are five foot three, I'd guess 11.5-12 stone.

CrystalShoe · 12/10/2025 13:33

Wow! I definitely wouldn't have guessed that! OP, you must have thick bones!

Glowingup · 12/10/2025 13:35

bananafake · 12/10/2025 11:41

Are you very tall? I'm 173cm, similar shape but bigger boobs, size 14 and 80kg.

5’7”

SilenceInside · 12/10/2025 13:38

@CrystalShoe the other possibility is that plenty of people are terrible at estimating weight, and may also have lost sight of what a healthy weight looks like. The OPs pictures show someone who is clearly obese, not just a bit overweight.

LittleMi55Nobody · 12/10/2025 13:48

16 stone but wearing it well..... but really ' why worry what others think you weigh...im 18 stone and hate it but i don't give a flying fuck what people think i do or do not weigh x

Charlenedickens · 12/10/2025 13:15

Huh? It is ridiculous as you don’t understand it. The healthy range for 162cm female is 8 stone to 10 stone 4. why there is a huge corridor, people come from different ethnic groups, and for some ethnicities 8 stone would be the fine. For others 10 stone 4 would be fine. What exactly is ridiculous about that corridor please>

Of course I understand. I’m not an imbecile. What’s ridiculous about that range is that it’s basically too low. I have small bones and would look like a walking skeleton at anything less than 9st.

UnemployedNotRetired · 12/10/2025 13:55

The relative lengths of your torso and legs can make a lot of difference -- more in the legs, lighter weight. And the reverse.

Dramatic · 12/10/2025 13:56

Without reading the thread I'd say you look similar to me and I'm the same height, I weigh 14st

It's not too wide a range because most people of that height will be perfectly fine at the lower and the upper end. Yes the lower end will look quite slim but they'll still be healthy.

fluffiphlox · 12/10/2025 14:03

I haven’t RTT but around 15/16 stone as you look a similar shape to me.

Skye109 · 12/10/2025 14:04

Cynic17 · 12/10/2025 09:50

I wouldn't dream of answering, because it's not important how much someone weighs. There is much more to you as a person than your weight or appearance.

What a lovely response.
Well done @Cynic17
And I agree.

Partridgewell · 12/10/2025 14:04

OP, if you've lost that much weight, I would imagine you've got a fair amount of excess skin, which must add a lot to your weight without adding as much bulk as fat would.

Losing ten stone is absolutely amazing for your health though - a huge well done to you for safeguarding your future in this way.

That’s fine, but it’s not made just for you. Plenty of ethnicities would not look like that at that weight. It simply isn’t just about you.

LBFseBrom · 12/10/2025 14:10

11 stone.

Nettlestoop · 12/10/2025 14:13

14 stone

Delphiniumandlupins · 12/10/2025 14:16

Well done on your weight loss. I would also have underestimated your weight but I think your clothes not fitting very well doesn't help. Presumably as you have been losing weight and are still doing so your wardrobe is in a state of flux. Once your weight settles you will get used to your new shape and can buy new clothes.

ThatLadyLady · 12/10/2025 10:06

I’m 15 stone 8!!!

really shocked by all the low guesses, but I’m guessing I carry it quite well!

Yes, you do carry it well.
My guess was 12/13 stone too.
Well done on the new you. 💐

TeaBiscuitsNaptime · 12/10/2025 14:31

I am that build at 5ft 1 and weigh 10 stone. She doesn't look as if she's too tall. 12 stone maybe
