I'm with DH regarding the jumper, if I'm honest, and if you're still cold then stick the heating on. I suppose if you're paying for it then it's up to you........

He wins and I know he's right, it just our yearly heating temperatures v month banter, not to be taken seriously , although I have on occasion put the heating on in the afternoon if it's been particularly cold and I've been working from home and its been August! 😆

It's not been cold yet for either jumper or heating ( i'm in Lancashire)

Dweetfidilove · 14/09/2025 18:36

I've been waiting for this thread 😊.

I've wanted to, but felt terribly guilty. I'll probably hang in there a little longer. I'm not built for the cold at all.

I never understand these posts (both here and elsewhere on social media). I've had a thermostat since I moved out of home over 20 years ago....

We don't have one thermostat, we have individual storage heaters which each have their own settings - they're quite new and we're in an area with no mains gas.

user760 · 14/09/2025 18:38

Ours has been on for an hour and we are about to light a fire.

We just had our first roast dinner since the spring and I’ve lit a candle!!

Me too!

DarkForces · 14/09/2025 18:47

No heating but I did have a snooze under my electric blanket earlier

WonderingWanda · 14/09/2025 18:50

No, It's been 20 degrees in my house today, but it seems to have warmed up a but this evening since we've been cooking.

LittleLogOut · 14/09/2025 18:51

Yes

AlmostAJillSandwich · 14/09/2025 18:52

I keep having to put my fan on still, i'm seriously worried i'm peri at 35.

Elsvieta · 14/09/2025 18:52

Yes, twice this week, for the first time since April I think. Somerset.

TSMWEL · 14/09/2025 18:55

We live in the NW and no, it’s nowhere near cold enough! One of the kids is in shorts and T-shirt! We do have the wind starting to pick up but the thermostat is set to 18, so it’ll come on if it needs to. Currently says 22 so I don’t think it will.

suffedpeppers · 14/09/2025 18:58

Lying on sofa with fleecy blanket and dog on top of me ! Heating will go on for an hour when I next get off my arse .
Was in Rhodes yesterday 34c so this temperature is rather chilly!

IKnowAristotle · 14/09/2025 18:59

Put it on for an hour today. Martin Lewis, I have failed you!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 14/09/2025 18:59

Yobba Rays on!

rainbowunicorn · 14/09/2025 18:59

BeeDavis · 14/09/2025 17:46

its absolutely nowhere near cold enough for the heating! Put a dressing down or hoodie on. You’ll all be moaning about your energy bills in a few months! Ours won’t go on til November! Hopefully even later than that!

How can you say categorically that it isn't cold enough. You dont know what the temperature is everywhere. What the wind chill factor is. What kind of housing people have or what health issues they may have.

Decafflatteplease · 14/09/2025 19:01

No, can't afford to put it on this early! Big old draughty house, boiler 30plus year old boiler and rubbish insulation. Oh and 12 foot ceilings!

We've got a dehumidifier which helps a bit. Plenty of layers available and throws for couch etc. we try to get to October before it goes on. Last year was sept 26th. I know this as we have a smart meter 😂

SnowFrogJelly · 14/09/2025 19:02

Yes it’s getting chilly in the eves

rainbowunicorn · 14/09/2025 19:03

Laughing at all the people declaring that no they don't have heating on them in the next breath they have the gas fire, log burner, open fire, electric heaters on. It's all heating. Dosent matter if it's gas central heating or not it still heats 😂

CharlotteCChapel · 14/09/2025 19:04

DH has hidden the thermostat. I've started wearing my dressing gown and winter wear generally. I'll be lucky if the heating goes on by November.

tesseractor · 14/09/2025 19:04

Hearing hasn’t come on yet, thermostat is set to come on at 17, I checked earlier and the house was at 17.8. I have been feeling chilly.

I did put on socks in the morning for the first time today and I’ve got out the heated throw from its summer hidey hole. It’s worth its weight in gold, and I’m no longer chilly cuddled up under it.

LittleCarrot12 · 14/09/2025 19:04

On now as struggling with uniforms drying. Otherwise I’m October-March as it’s too expensive

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 14/09/2025 19:05

No way, it's nowhere near cold enough. We still have the doors and windows open.

Terfedout · 14/09/2025 19:06

Don't be silly 🤣😁😂 it's not even cold yet! 🤣🤣🤣

CoralOP · 14/09/2025 19:06

Yep had mine on twice, I hate being cold. Even under blankets and dressing gowns i can feel the cold in the air and I refuse to sit in the cold!

ruffler45 · 14/09/2025 19:11

No heating but hot water bottles for a cold bed and feet...
