Not yet, but I've been feeling the cold in the house a little bit on and off these last few days! So far, a fleece and a quilt keeps the chill off!

Bunniemalone · 14/09/2025 17:34

Been away for a week, so came home & house was 16° so wacked it on to warm us up, to 18, took about an hour on Friday. Felt so nice, have had it on half hour 7 am yesterday & today. But big jumpers & throws are out. Have just packed away the fans & dogs cool blankets... I fear autumn is upon us...

Pixiedust49 · 14/09/2025 17:34

It is utterly miserable here and I’m missing the summer already. Heating has gone on for the first time in months.

greengreyblue · 14/09/2025 17:35

We just had our first roast dinner since the spring and I’ve lit a candle!!

AlanJohnsonsBeemer · 14/09/2025 17:36

No, it was chilly this morning & thought we might end up with a fire tonight but it’s not cold enough. Making do with bolognese and apple and blackberry crumble instead.

Air con here in the South of Italy 😊

Lucky you.
Stop trying to make us jealous because it's working 🤣

Zuve · 14/09/2025 17:37

Today for the first time. Thank goodness for the boiler. It's chilly this Sunday

HealthAnxietyReallySucks · 14/09/2025 17:37

My 5 month old pup is loving the heated blanket being on. Heating has kicked on too though I did turn it down when I realised as I don’t feel I ‘need’ it yet but like others I won’t freeze in my own home.

Heating on?

Lucky you! I lived there for many years and wish I never left.

The plan is to split time between here and the UK.
But frankly, this thread is making me reconsider.

GRCP · 14/09/2025 17:38

It’s not cold enough yet really but my tumble dryer is broken and it’s raining so I’ve popped it on for a hour to finish drying the last bits of washing.

Trainstrike · 14/09/2025 17:38

Mine's set to 18 in the day so it did come on this morning, which was quite nice after a morning in the cold at football!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 14/09/2025 17:41

Ours will probably be going on this evening. Our living room is always cool even in summer as it doesn't get any sunlight after about 10am so when it's not sunny it's freezing in here! Having next to no insulation doesn't help either.

Purplecatshopaholic · 14/09/2025 17:41

I do. It’s wet and cold here in central Scotland. I refuse to be cold.

feellikeanalien · 14/09/2025 17:42

No heating yet since I'm trying to save on oil but I've had the fire on for the last few days. May have to put it on if I need to dry washing.

DD has also put her oodie on for the first time.

When we went out yesterday just after 3 it was torrential rain and 8 degrees.

ItWasTheBabycham · 14/09/2025 17:42

Ours is on today.

icantgetnosheep1 · 14/09/2025 17:44

Oh yes! I refuse to be cold in my own home.

BeeDavis · 14/09/2025 17:46

its absolutely nowhere near cold enough for the heating! Put a dressing down or hoodie on. You’ll all be moaning about your energy bills in a few months! Ours won’t go on til November! Hopefully even later than that!

WhineAndWine1 · 14/09/2025 17:46

@GleisZweiI am in Edinburgh and it’s freezing

ComfortFoodCafe · 14/09/2025 17:47

Only twenty minutes to warm up the house before kids get up. Its cold up here, other than that living in my winter fleece leggings & heated blanket 😂

Ivegotafeelingwerenotinkansasanymore · 14/09/2025 17:47

Yes mine is on, put on yesterday for 45 minutes and again for 45 minutes this morning, the thermostat said it was 16.4 in the house and that's too cold for me, I have a disability and the cold make it worse and I refuse to suffer.

ElBandito · 14/09/2025 17:49

Heating comes on if the temperature goes below 18. Just checked the Hive and it came on for 12 whole minutes this morning.

LinesAndLinesAndLinesAndLines · 14/09/2025 17:49

I’ve got mine on this evening, we’ve been out all day and it’s been rainy and cold. DD isn’t feeling so great and has complained of waking up cold in the night so I’ve relented. We live in a Victorian terrace in the NW.

readingmakesmehappy · 14/09/2025 17:49

Never before October, and not usually til November

StuntNun · 14/09/2025 17:50

Mine is set on a thermostat so it will come on automatically once the temperature of the house drops below 18°C.
