Fucking flags

I know this has probably been done to death on here and there will be lots of threads about it already but I cant be bothered to trawl through the site for them so here I am.

I’m so irritated by the England flags popping up everywhere. There has been an influx put up in my area over the last week, it seems to be increasing by the day. I don’t hate the flag, but I hate the fact it is being used to send a clear message by racists. People aren’t doing it to be patriotic they are doing it to be hateful towards those that they don’t feel ‘belong’ in their country.

I don’t want to see all of these flags in my area. If people are entitled to put them up then why am I not entitled to go and cut the fuckers down? And don’t get me started on the spray painting of public roundabouts and road signage by people who allegedly love their country so much that they are vandalising it at the expense of public money.

If I see one more person give a ‘big well done to whoever has erected the flags on xyz street’ on Facebook I will explode. Does anyone else feel ragey over it?

Why because we have different opinions and you cant handle that

One person's patriotism is another person's nationalism. Personally, I want my country back so that I can be proud of it again. And I'm not talking about the immigrants. We lost the ability to discuss immigration rationally somewhere around 2016. The flag has been hijacked by racists, not patriots. That's not to say that all flag wavers are racist, but I'm damn sure all racists are flag wavers.

It's fantastic in Lincolnshire. Our quaint military village looks lovely. So vibrant but then it is a village, which is home of the Dambusters.

Or people who assume that every single person putting up a flag is racist is very narrow minded.

I think it’s a bit racist to suggest that our flag only represents a white population, tbh.

If you are someone who has a flag up in your garden all year round because you are being patriotic that’s one thing. If you are an ignorant racist jumping on a bandwagon because everyone else is doing it (and causing criminal damage in the process) then you are a moron.

It’s very clear that some people are doing it to make a point that immigrants are unwelcome in this country.

Most of the places covered in them look so trashy. The reason they're being put up is completely off putting too.

I have said this before.

If those putting up the flags had just been left to get on with it, it would already be done and dusted.

Additionally

Councils paying out to remove the Cross of St George after (and sometimes within) 24 hours has just proved the "posted" point of those putting up the flags.

A spate of 'SS' graffiti in my town too, really awful as on wall close to a primary school.

The furore over flying bits of material is baffling. Imagine being more concerned about that than a schoolgirl being left humiliated because of a fascist teacher.

Ours is up for the Women's Rugby World Cup. Not all flags that are up are up for the same reason.

Saltires being used to express the same sentiment where I am. Utterly depressing.

But tbh I think in getting angry about it, we are playing into the hands of those that are putting them up.

Flags is it? These are in Pontllanfraith and they look very jolly.

I saw someone on Facebook had painted the 4 corners on pink and yellow to look like Battenberg cakes! And quite right, too.

You can be concerned about both, they aren’t mutually exclusive.

And let’s not be silly, it’s not the flying bits of material we need to worry about. It’s the intent of those that are putting them up so obnoxiously.
