Fucking flags

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 15:01

I know this has probably been done to death on here and there will be lots of threads about it already but I cant be bothered to trawl through the site for them so here I am.

I’m so irritated by the England flags popping up everywhere. There has been an influx put up in my area over the last week, it seems to be increasing by the day. I don’t hate the flag, but I hate the fact it is being used to send a clear message by racists. People aren’t doing it to be patriotic they are doing it to be hateful towards those that they don’t feel ‘belong’ in their country.

I don’t want to see all of these flags in my area. If people are entitled to put them up then why am I not entitled to go and cut the fuckers down? And don’t get me started on the spray painting of public roundabouts and road signage by people who allegedly love their country so much that they are vandalising it at the expense of public money.

If I see one more person give a ‘big well done to whoever has erected the flags on xyz street’ on Facebook I will explode. Does anyone else feel ragey over it?

Lazy and disingenuous- much like this thread.

Then why are you here?

I've recently returned from beautiful Switzerland and there were Swiss flags absolutely everywhere.

Are they racist too OP?

The Swiss government would not tolerate random amateur flags and symbols daubed all over the place. Switzerland is spotless. The flags you saw will have been official ones like the union flag flying in front of our town hall. Not a problem at all.

cholent99 · 09/09/2025 15:43

I'm Jewish too and I love seeing the Union Jack and St George's Cross flags. They are the flags of the country that gave my ancestors a home and I am proud to live in such a tolerant country.

There are lots of other flags which I find far more offensive, divisive and scary.

It's mad that people object to the flag of the country they live in. Very strange times.

It's utterly depressing isn't it? And these 'I hate the England lag' threads are so tedious and boring now. Like, duh! We have had 50 threads about this already in the past month. Post about something else, if your brain can work out how to do so.

See, now I am resorting to insults, like the left do. They're a bad influence! 😆

Northquit · 09/09/2025 15:46

Suck it up buttercup.
Stop taking offence. Close your eyes and pretend there's a football tournament about to happen.

If you're offended by the lag of England then move to another country.

VanillaImpulse · 09/09/2025 15:45

I think you’re unreasonable to assume that everyone who puts them up is racist

They're definitely anti people coming into the country which is pretty much the same thing

Dangermoos · 09/09/2025 15:47

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 15:46

Then why are you here?

Why are you, instead of being pragmatic? Isn't there a group you could gather, to dismantle the flags?

twilightermummy · 09/09/2025 15:47

If there wasn't an ulterior motive behind why they've been put up, I'd quite like them actually. I'm mixed race but British. Yesterday an entire main road was lined with GB flags and it reminded me of my time abroad this summer. Malaysia had their flags everywhere. I thought it looked fab. Then I saw red lines in a zebra crossing and thought, they've gone too far!
The GB flag isn't as intimidating as the George cross.

KhakiTiger · 09/09/2025 15:47

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 15:43

😂😂😂

Do you live under a rock? Are you unaware of the divisions in the country? Can you explain why in the aftermath of the anti asylum protests and Bell Hotel drama in Epping that all of these flags are suddenly being put up? Is it coincidence?

If you’re going to insult me at least have some awareness of what’s going on in the country.

What’s racist about not wanting hotels to be used for housing asylum seekers?

No point in ranting. Try and answer the question rationally and calmly.

Correction, definitely anti illegals being smuggled in.

It's incredible how many people on this site are so immune to the real reason behind this.
Honestly and truthfully, are all those putting faux innocent 'Isn't it lovely to have some pride in our national flag' so thick they can't read or comprehend the reality.
And why are all these flag fucking 'patriots' bombing around at night with balaclavas on secretly putting them up or painting them everywhere? If it's about 'PriDe iN R CountRy', surely it would something we'd all do together after work...oh, hang on.

I think they look quite jolly.
I haven’t seen any evidence anywhere of them being put up by racists.

I don't think that can possibly be true.

I’m offended by racist vandals not the flag.

I'm sure some of the ones draped on bridges over roads snd motorways will cause accidents when they are blown off.
They're tacky, look awful and don't represent everyone's views, so should be taken down from public places.
Stick them all over your private property but keep them off our streets.

Can you explain why a British schoolgirl was told she couldn't celebrate her Britishness?

Edited

Wearing a flag is Britishness? What about fish and chips? Can I wear that to show my Britishness?

Elliania · 09/09/2025 15:49

I find it all quite sad really. Half the flags around our way are upside-down, they can only get a certain height up the lampposts so most don't catch the breeze and just sort of hang limply and the "flags" on the roundabouts and zebra crossings are laughable. The lines are all wonky and different thicknesses so they just look crap.

If people really had pride in their country they'd have done a better job of it all.

I think I would be feeling more than ‘ragey’ if I genuinely thought it was racism op.

You seem a little worked up. Has it crossed your mind why my British born Indian friends fly the British flag quite proudly? That they too wish to see the country run well, and for us all to know who is coming in and out of our country?

You may not be aware of it, but your post is riddled with assumptions and bias, and indeed racist stereotypes that you would presume that all ‘flag bearers’ are white! They most certainly are not.

You really need to take a breath, and think this one through, because you are frothing and virtue signalling without really understanding what this is all about. It is really not about race - there is a clue. Good luck.

Don’t know, do you normally wear food to celebrate stuff? If so, whatever you’re into I suppose.

Is that analogy meant to be coherent? Are you saying a young girl shouldn't be able to represent her heritage during a dedicated school event?
