Shitty message aimed at me in school WhatsApp group chat

Dannii93 · 02/09/2025 17:52

I’ve been working today so my DH did the pick up.

I received a notification that I’d been tagged in the school Mum’s WhatsApp group. For transparency, I’ve copied it here:

“@(me) and @(another Mum) if your husbands want to comment on Miss X’s TITS then I suggest they do so when other parents are not in earshot!!!”

The other Mum saw this before I did and replied to say she had no idea what she is on about but would have appreciated a message privately.

The reply:

“I think you need to reflect on what type of men you have settled for as they are disgusting!”

Anyway, I sent on to DH to ask what on earth happened. He said a Dad he was stood waiting with asked him if he had seen our DS’s new teacher. DH said no as he didn’t do the morning drop off. The Dad basically replied something along the lines of you’ll be in for a treat as she has massive tits and before DH could reply, a Mum who overheard (not the one who sent the messages above) snapped at him to shut up.

AIBU to find the Mum completely out of order to have sent those messages? She has an absolute cheek to say what she has about me needing to ‘reflect’ and it’s rich coming from someone who is a single bloody Mum herself!

Don’t engage, she has shown herself up.

Was right with ya til the final line. Is this a wind-up?

EnchantedQuill · 02/09/2025 17:53

That’s absolutely mental.

Ditto

No3392 · 02/09/2025 17:54

Of course your husband is all wide eyed and innocent.

And that last line... You deserve each other.

Good for her calling out gross men.

Stowawaysue · 02/09/2025 17:54

Ghastly

every adult in the scenario I suspect

just ghastly

all like extras in an episode of Shameless

growgrowinggrown · 02/09/2025 17:55

So by your logic better to be with a sexist pig than a single mum?

HappySummerDays · 02/09/2025 17:56

All so strange..

MaudlinGazebo · 02/09/2025 17:57

My point is don’t preach to others about how they need to reflect on their choice of men when your own choice is so brilliant you are no longer together!

Isn’t it!

Like a peephole in to the kind of families you see wandering around town centre and think “poor kids growing up in that”

Has she though? It sounds like OPs DH was innocent (convenient) but at least one Dad was stood at the gates in ear shot of others (so kids too?) discussing a teachers tits. That’s fucking tragically low standards of parenting and general adulting in my book. She shouldn’t have told the Mums off as they are not the ones doing the bad behaviour but I can sort of see how she thought that would get more of a response

HappySummerDays · 02/09/2025 17:59

@Stowawaysue
Yes.

250mlmax · 02/09/2025 17:59

It all sounds very classy. But she is BU for holding you to account for men's bad behaviour. | thought we were on our way to being done with that bullshit. What does she want you to do, tell him off like you're his mum?!

Soontobe60 · 02/09/2025 17:59

This is why there shouldn’t be class WhatsApp groups - it’s just an excuse for parents to be nasty to each other.
And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a single parent, you don’t win if you’ve managed to get a husband!

And how do you know her partner hasn’t died? Perhaps she isn’t a single mother through choice?

PullingOutHair123 · 02/09/2025 18:00

Say nothing. Do nothing. Pretend nothing has happened. At school gate blank any comments made. Do not escalate in any way. Do not fan the gossip, and something else will happen to take the top spot of discussion soon enough.

To your OH - I would suggest he refrains from commenting on women's bodies, and stays away from his new "friend".

BengalBangle · 02/09/2025 18:00

👏👏👏

minipie · 02/09/2025 18:00

So your main concern is her message rather than your DH being involved in a grim sexist conversation??

But it’s ok because at least you’ve got a man hey??

She didn't though. She called out the women they are with, as if it's their fault the men are sexist pigs, rather than the men themselves. Always the women's fault somehow

Iansavestheday · 02/09/2025 18:01

Before your DH could reply a woman who overheard was able to respond? Is your husband particularly slow?

Also, nasty business commenting about her being a single mum. I bet she is glad tbh, your DH is hardly sounding like much of a catch!

MotherofPufflings · 02/09/2025 18:01

I think I'd message her privately and ask her exactly what she heard your husband say. And then clarify that it wasn't him that said it.

Poppingby · 02/09/2025 18:02

She's the one who said tits on the class WhatsApp! You should say so. I'll get the popcorn.

Someone did - perhaps not the one who sent the message, but someone told him to shut up

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 02/09/2025 18:02

Say nothing. She lost any high ground when she tagged you and the other female. You’re not responsible for his behaviour.

I’d give her a wide berth personally, but I’m not fond of those, I just say it as it is, me, types.
