To dislike my husband masturbating in bed?

justabigdisco · 30/08/2025 18:30

I was woken last night by the bed shaking and my husband heavy breathing. I asked him WTF he was doing and he said ‘just trying to get comfy in bed’ however it was clear he was wanking next to me while I slept. There have been other episodes where I’ve been woken up and thought ‘is he…?’ but never been sure until last night.

I haven’t said anything to him yet but have been thinking about it all day. He has a higher sex drive than me and I know this frustrates him, but AIBU to find it a bit gross and disrespectful?

Yeah this is grimy. How dare he wake you up. I would be pissed off

Nothing grimy about masterbating to get to sleep . Annoying if it wakes you up though.

Pricelessadvice · 30/08/2025 18:59

Yuk. I’d expect him to wank in private.
Im surprised a few people think this is ok. Its grim.

Is your own bedroom no longer considered private.

I'd watch 😉

I’d join in 😁

Now if a man had said that he didn’t feel comfortable with his wife masturbating in bed nobody would be calling her a disrespectful pig. In fact everyone would be telling him it’s her body and he should mind his own business. Funny old world Mumsnet.

I doubt it. Are you new here? Most people tend to sympathise with men on here.

Sorry, do they? And here I thought from my years here, that this was the land of LTB 😂

R0ckandHardPlace · 30/08/2025 19:04

Wouldn’t bother me at all. I’d be lying if I said I’d never done the same myself to get off to sleep occasionally.

Depends what suits that threads narrative. 9/10 men are still evil though.

AlertEagle · 30/08/2025 19:05

That would turn me on but I have a high sex drive.

He’s a disrespectful pig, sorry.

Jesus wept. Why is he a disrespectful pig for doing something perfectly natural ?

SteakBakesAndHotTakes · 30/08/2025 19:09

That's gross and off-putting. Doesn't he care about your reaction?? I would be upset - doing that next to you in your bed requires your consent as well.

So if he shits in their bed that's a-okay because it's perfectly natural...?

Are you joking? Misandry is rife here. @SuPollardsPolkaDotFrock is 100% correct.

But we’re not talking about shitting in their bed are we - if you think that would be natural then I don’t know what to say.

So he needs her consent to masturbate? Controlling, much?

Next to her in bed. Amazingly disingenuous.

Purplecatshopaholic · 30/08/2025 19:12

I wouldn’t have a problem with this at all. If he wants a wank in his own bed, so what. However you do have an issue with it, so I guess you could ask him not to… I do think that’s a bit controlling though.

dairydebris · 30/08/2025 19:12

PrivateMusic · 30/08/2025 18:59

Yuck. Also if he was doing it in bed under the covers, how was he planning on cleaning up after himself? 🤢

Would you be a little bit offended if your partner made sick faces at the thought of your vaginal secretions? I would be. I'd also think he was a bit of an immature twat.

Why. Do you think a woman needs her partner’s consent to wank in bed next to her husband too ? I’ve done it many times, as I suspect lots of women here have too, and never felt the need to ask ‘permission’ MN is weird sometimes.

Not if someone else is in there, no.

But it’s a shared bedroom. It’s a private space when the other person isn’t there.
Except she is there, she’s lying in bed sleeping while he’s wanking next to her.
I’m sorry, but that’s grim.

Laura95167 · 30/08/2025 19:16

He wasnt blasting porn, or being a sex pest, I think i wouldnt care

I’m totally okay with my DH masturbating but I also find it disrespectful and annoying on the occasions when he woke me up in exactly the way you described. It made me freeze and feel really uncomfortable, and I told him I wanted him to stop. He hasn’t done it since. Masturbation is normal and healthy but you are allowed to not want to be woken and surprised by it happening right next to you without your knowledge or consent.

Why do you feel he needs your consent ? Have you never done this yourself ? And if you have did you ask ‘permission’ first. OP has a lower sex drive than her DH, which is fine. Controlling how he addresses that is not.

Yep, this. And there are such things as tissues - and god forbid he might even shower afterwards.

hoohaal · 30/08/2025 19:21

My partner does this and I do find it pretty grim. I’ve never said anything though and just pretended to be asleep when it’s woken me up.

I do think it’s gross, but he does have a way higher sex drive than me so I leave him to it.

I don’t get why he couldn’t go off and do it in the bathroom or something though.
