Do you believe there will be a civil war?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and I wonder if others feel the same. With everything going on, from the arrival of illegal migrants in small boats to a government that seems powerless, and with Farage gaining popularity because people are fed up, it feels like tension is rising across the country.

People are frustrated. You try to raise concerns and are instantly labelled a racist or bigot, even when your worries are about integration, safety, and national identity, not race. It feels like any honest conversation is being shut down.

There are parts of the UK where people who were born and raised here no longer feel at home. In some areas, if you are not part of the dominant local community, you can feel completely out of place or even unsafe walking alone at night. That is not right in your own country.

It is not just about people coming from Muslim-majority countries or those arriving illegally. There are also large numbers of Eastern Europeans, including Bulgarians, Romanians, and Russians. Many work hard and contribute, but there are also communities forming where people keep to themselves, speak no English, and make no effort to integrate. Some of these areas are experiencing rising antisocial behaviour, crime, and a breakdown of community life.

You can find videos online showing the state of some of these areas, with rubbish piling up, people ignoring the rules, and no sign of enforcement. It looks lawless, and it often is. But speaking about it honestly is considered of limits.

I live next to a Muslim family and they are wonderful people. Friendly, respectful, hardworking. So this is not about judging individuals. This is about a wider pattern where people are arriving, not integrating, and changing the fabric of our country in ways no one voted for.

We are a Christian country with our own traditions, values, and way of life. Why is it seen as wrong to want to preserve that? If we moved to Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria, or Russia, we would be expected to adapt to their culture. So why is it unacceptable to ask the same here?

The anger and division in this country are growing. I do not want unrest or conflict, but I cannot ignore what feels like a serious shift. When ordinary people feel ignored for too long, things eventually boil over.

Is anyone else feeling this? Or are we just not allowed to talk about it anymore?

Civil War is a tad dramatic. We'd need a very well armed civil army to take on the entirety of the armed forces. There are certainly current stirrings of civil unrest which is slowly building momentum but civil war is highly unlikely

Yes, I’ve experienced this first hand. There’s a small town not far from where I live that I visit fairly regularly, and the situation there is quite different from what you describe. The area has a large population of Russians, Bulgarians, and Muslims, and there are even shops with signs in the windows that say 'no English.' This isn’t something I’ve picked up from social media it’s what I’ve seen for myself.

So yes, I have experienced it, and honestly, it isn’t a pleasant situation. I just wish everyone could get on!

Signs saying no English

You've over egged it now

HollyhockDays · 04/08/2025 18:26

Illegal migrants likely make up approximately 0.9% to 1.8% of the population. How are they the root of all that ills the country?

Who would be fighting who in this potential war? The army vs the people?

I think the issue is that illegal migrants or low skilled legal migrants frequently live in areas with high unemployment etc and it’s easier to blame them than other societal issues or yourself if you are jobless and feel left behind.

So if the queue was full of white British people they could say it but not if they are foreign people right? Does the meaning change depending on the colour of someone’s skin?

What? A British woman looked at a room full of people entering the country from other nations and said "ugh, look at the great unwashed". Her tone wasn't light hearted or joking. She sounded disgusted. She sounded like a bigoted arsehole and her words creeped me out.

I mentioned nothing about skin colour btw, that was all you.

Signs in the window that say ‘No English’. To be frank, I don’t believe you. But by all means post a photo to prove me wrong.

forgivenessISNTshallow · 04/08/2025 18:27

You definitely have something against Romania and Bulgaria, to put us together with Russia or Saudi Arabia? Why you omitted the biggest Eastern European community, the Polish people? You sound like a totally uneducated racist and indeed biggotted person, not knowing what you are talking about

We may be nominally a 'Christian country', but in reality we're pluralistic.

I don't believe the 'no English' signs – or, I suppose I might if I assume they mean 'sorry but we don't speak English in here so probably can't help you.'

I've never found anyone able to define or explain 'national identity' in a clear and satisfactory way.
Likewise, when I have pushed people on things like 'not feeling at home' they can't come up with anything concrete. Someone on a thread on here actually said recently it was 'an intangible thing', which I felt made my point for me.

You use a lot of bingo/buzz-words: 'Muslim-majority countries', 'small boats', 'make no effort to integrate'. Do you have your own original thoughts on this issue?

Rubbish piles up because councils have had their budgets slashed or don't organise their rubbish collections properly.

'people ignoring the rules': well, I see plenty of white 'native' Brits ignoring the rules too.

You also use the 'good immigrant' trope, which is pretty deplorable as well as tired.

Many of the traditions and values you talk about are not exclusively for white and/or British people.

I haven’t watched the Betz video people mention so not sure how it’s framed but mostly we just vote rather than fight.

Better wrote an essay- I will link. He thinks the army will get disillusioned & give arms to rebels & rioters.

Givemethereins · 04/08/2025 18:31

This is such a plant. And while no one agrees with you, it sounds like you really want a civil war...and are planning on starting one yourself thru Chinese whispers. Ie. "Oh did you hear what so and so called you!"
Maybe focus on yourself.

BallerinaRadio · 04/08/2025 18:31

You couldn't have fit any more cliches in that if you'd tried, congratulations you got a full house!

Now lay down and Uncle Nigel will tickle your belly for you.

forgivenessISNTshallow · 04/08/2025 18:32

you definitely are not a Christian and for your information, the UK is not Christian and has stopped to be decades ago. Can you tell me from which place of the UK you come from, are you historically British raised, have you been abroad, what is your level of education because you sound like someone who just lived all their life on benefits on a Luton estate and suddenly found videos of Farage

Agrumpyknitter · 04/08/2025 18:33

Will there be civil war if Reform come in and we lose our NHS? Probably not, the poor will suffer and have to raise go fund me’s and no NHS will impact on everyone.

Ask yourself why no one has solved the illegal immigration issue. It will cost money and more importantly people. You could have trained people who deal with illegal immigration at the ports and places they enter with a strict criteria and then deport if they don’t meet them.

problem is we don’t have lots of trained legal professionals available, we also would have to pass some legislation with this strict criteria because we can’t just willy nilly start deporting people (our laws) and there is a massive backlog in current cases (thank you Tories).

It is doable but ask yourself why is it a burning issue now? Is it because Labour are asking businesses to pay their fair share? There is a chapter in Hard Times by Charles Dickens where the rich complain about the taxes they pay and say that they will throw their factories in the sea if they are forced to pay more. Does that ring any bells with what’s happening now? The rich complaining and saying they will leave the UK in droves. Reform and the Tories have better policies that favour the rich, where was the outrage in the papers then? It’s all very convenient.

RaininSummer · 04/08/2025 18:34

Yes eventually but probably decades away.

TeaAndMuffins · 04/08/2025 18:35

Those saying it's all people are talking about... Where do you live? In my circle (urban, middle class) it's pretty much a taboo. I have the impression that working class community are expressing their frustrations more openly, because they are the most negatively affected by illegally immigration. But certainly among affluent metropolitan demographics it's very much a no go area.

TaupeMember · 04/08/2025 18:35

Clearly never been to Thailand then!

There's hoards of British men harassing young girls in many countries of the world

Often paying peanuts to females in abject poverty, often underage

AlwaysBelieveTheEx · 04/08/2025 18:35

When people say that you’re not allowed to talk about it - of course we can talk about it, but those who do are insulted, called names, told they’re thick or right wing thugs.

When Farage gets in in 4 years I hope people comfortable with flinging out the insults on threads like this have some understanding that they were part of the problem - they actively stood by ignoring women and girls being shoved to the bottom of the heap yet again.

Why not say no without the insult?

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 04/08/2025 18:36

@AlwaysBelieveTheEx

Exactly what my previous post was alluding too.

TrixieFatell · 04/08/2025 18:37

No. The vast majority of us in the UK aren't violent or wanting any civil unrest. it's a vocal minority, every riot that has happened has fizzled out.

Ashley911 · 04/08/2025 18:37

I believe the only cause for us seeing a civil war would be related to anti- capitalism

Despite your "I have muslim neighbours...." - I think you're a racist, a plant, and trying to stir up racist conversation.

She is not only racist but very badly educated putting Muslim and Balkans together. Like have you read about the Ottoman Empire? I am sure you have not.

let me also reassure you, I am Balkan married with a British. Many like him support their own Christian values and also their European Christian wives. You guys get married with a British man and get divorced sooner or later, we get marry with a British man and he stays forever. I hope your racism gets activated if this is what you wanted.

Peak classism. Do you hear yourself??

The working class are allowed to have an opinion too, y'know. Especially as they're the ones whose children have been groomed by men who illegally emigrated here from patriarchal cultures with vile views on women. They're the ones who live in the areas with the highest crime rates, terrible integration problems and life outcomes.
