I’d say it’s more Medium. Vinted disagrees. AIBU?

I see M as 10 and to me L is 12, so I’ll buy according to how I want whatever the item is to fit. S is 8 I think!

ladyofshertonabbas · 31/07/2025 19:33

Depends on height of person, their body composition, and what shop sizing it is.

Interesting. Perhaps I am deluding myself!

It's large as a 12 now is an old 16.

NeuroSpicyCat · 31/07/2025 19:35

Does it matter?

youalright · 31/07/2025 19:35

I think 8 -10 is small 12- 14 medium 16-18 large and 20+ extra large

Vastimir · 31/07/2025 19:36

I am average height (5’5”), a bit under 10st, BMI 23. I feel average/medium. I am a size 12.

I’m a size 10/12. I’m 5ft 8 tall and weigh 63 kg. I would always go for a medium size.Large is generally too big on me.In some shops I need a small. I think a lot depends on the shop and it’s sizing.

Most things on this website don’t 😂

Exactly right as 6 is xs

MauraLabingi · 31/07/2025 19:40

I'm a size 12 too OP (waist 29 inches). This means I usually buy size 10 clothes due to vanity sizing. For that reason, I'd say clothing size 12 probably actually fits someone who is a size 14 now, and therefore size 12 clothes are in fact "large".

Whether a person wearing said clothes is 'large' or not is an entirely different question, and depends on height and body composition.

The whole thing is a minefield. Why oh why can't we have everything measured in inches like men do?

VaseofViolets · 31/07/2025 19:41

Yes, it’s large. No point lying to myself - it just is.

Bronze0 · 31/07/2025 19:42

I agree with you completely and it has always confused me why Vinted does this.

It’s also quite frustrating because shops don’t set Larges as a 12 - so if you have a Large top for sale, you have to be really explicit in the description that it’s going to be too big for a size 12 to wear.

TreeCake · 31/07/2025 19:43

I'm 5 foot 2, 9st 10lb and wear 10-12. I don't feel large. But apparently I am!

In that case, what do we call sizes 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 etc?

MidnightMeltdown · 31/07/2025 19:44

I think there’s some overlap in sizing because not all shops size in the same way. I’d say:

6-8 XS
8-10 S
10-12 M
12-14 L
14-16 XL

MyUmberSeal · 31/07/2025 19:44

I personally feel like a contender for ‘My 600Ib Life’, when I’m a 12. To me it’s big.

Purpleisnotmycolour · 31/07/2025 19:34

I don’t believe this. I’m a 8-10 and I struggle to imagine many women were slimmer than I am years ago as I have literally no weight to lose. I’m average height too. Some shops I think vanity size (Next, I’m looking at you) but mostly I find a 10 fairly small as a body type and can’t imagine many women much slimmer than that years ago!

OffRoad · 31/07/2025 19:45

I don’t pay attention to whether 12 is large on some clothing sites. But I agree, it’s not large, unless you’re working in high fashion, where size 10 is considered big.

I’m 5’11 and size 12 and although I’m large vertically 😀 I’m certainly not ‘large’.

Time to cut down, that massive salad is too massive

nameobsessed · 31/07/2025 19:46

I am tiny, like under 5ft, if I’m wearing a size 12 I’m definitely large but at 5’5+ it’s very much medium/average.

Thesimplelife1810 · 31/07/2025 19:48

Personally, I feel on the large as size 12-14. I'm at the top end of a 12. However, I always buy medium if the options are s/m/l and that always fits fine.
If 12 is large then what on earth is a size 20 and above!

Are you also very short? Because I feel like this but it’s absolutely not big on someone of a normal height. I know very athletic, medium height, women that wear a 12 without an ounce of fat.

I quite agree! A moment on the lips is a heffa on your hips.

Straightjacketsandroses · 31/07/2025 19:49

Size 20 and above isn’t standard sizing though, and nor should it be really! So I’d say anything above a size 16 is just XXL etc etc
