Occasionally. Usually in a "silly sausage" context, but sometimes just sausage.

There's a school dad who always calls his child sausage. Always. I have never heard him use her name and I don't know what it is. But he's sweet and kind and she's a happy child so I while it's very mildly annoying, I don't really care.

Plinketyplonks · 24/06/2025 13:48

Why is it more annoying than other pet names like poppet or lamb?

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 24/06/2025 13:48

No, but I have a dachshund that I call “sausage”, and sometimes, “saus”.

I know, I know.

Lookingforwardto2025 · 24/06/2025 13:48

Not really DS but Dcats are my radiant sausages.

Hdpr · 24/06/2025 13:48

Yes and love it

I was called chipolata as a kid as it sounded posher than sausage.

Shoxfordian · 24/06/2025 13:49

My dad calls me sausage and I'm 39

Not sausage, she’s Chicken.

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 24/06/2025 13:49

I call mine lamb chop sometimes, i don’t think I’ve ever called them sausage

HotCrossBunplease · 24/06/2025 13:50

Not sausage but chicken, are lean non-processed-meat-based nicknames any more acceptable?

Usernumber12356 · 24/06/2025 13:50

No but I call them chicken. Is that better or worse?

Comedycook · 24/06/2025 13:50

Yes sometimes amongst various other nicknames

dontforgetme · 24/06/2025 13:50

I raise you ‘Pickle’ op. Urgh.

Purplebunnie · 24/06/2025 13:50

Yes and sometimes pickle and sometimes pumpkin. I was a bit confused the other day to hear someone else call their child pickle

Fragmentedbrain · 24/06/2025 13:50

I've never heard chicken before

I don't like chicken so it's complicated to decide

Sausage is a nice friendly way to address a child, or colleague!

Don't know why or its origins but it's affectionate 🌞

You’d be unreasonable if you didn’t do this!

JustGoClickLikeALightSwitch · 24/06/2025 13:51

I've got one Sausage, one Banana and a Moomin.

Fragmentedbrain · 24/06/2025 13:51

Pickle is also annoying! The vegetarian equivalent of sausage. And the "l" is so often said like a "w".

Yes.

cannotbetooarsed · 24/06/2025 13:51

My darling Mum referred to us as Hens and Chicks .
