Yes! My toddler is ‘beautiful little sausage’ and the baby is ‘cute little sausage’. My MIL also refers to them as sausage (or possum) which is purely coincidence as I don’t see her very often.

SpendingTooMuchTimeHere · 24/06/2025 14:22

i have a ‘sweet pea’ & I was a ‘bean’

Catsandcannedbeans · 24/06/2025 14:24

Silly sausage sometimes but mostly silly goose, or silly geese if they are both being silly. Grossy goose if they are being gross or have boogers. I don’t know why I went with goose. My mum calls us duck or ducks so maybe it’s that (yes even as adults).

My dad always calls me bug. He has only called me by my real name twice (when I got expelled from school and when I was brought home by the police as a teenager). It was a bit embarrassing when I was a teenager at parents evening. Or at school competitions when my dad was yelling “GO ON BUG!!” in his best tracksuit at the mathletes semi final against a very posh private school.

I tried to look up shnooki ookams, and look what I found… unless you all know this, and I’ve been walking around with a bag on my head and cotton wool in my ears !!

I hadn't heard of it until your comment, and haven't listened to it yet.

My dad calls me sausage and I'm 39

Was about to say, I call my youngest poppet. He's 24 😳

Not sausage, but munchkin, chicken pumpkin ,sweetpea.

Definitely to munchkin, pumpkin and chicken! And spud, poppet and monkey.

Jaggy1 · 24/06/2025 14:25

I call mine a little nugget 🤣

MyKingdomForACat · 24/06/2025 14:25

My kids are Boody Joe and The Skull

zingally · 24/06/2025 14:25

My mum still calls me sausage fairly regularly, and I'm 40.

HotCrossBunplease · 24/06/2025 13:50

Not sausage but chicken, are lean non-processed-meat-based nicknames any more acceptable?

😂

Uricon2 · 24/06/2025 14:26

I called my late DH sausage. It wasn't aggressive or passive aggressive (struggling with that interpretation) it was affectionate.

NoNameisGoodEnough · 24/06/2025 14:26

I work in a nursery. I call the children there 'sausage'.

wandererofthekingdom · 24/06/2025 14:26

Sausage, potato, pickle, bambino, small, all used here as endearing nicknames.
You are unreasonable for caring what people use as pet names.

Pinches · 24/06/2025 14:27

When they were younger they were sometimes sausages, now they're doughnuts

OldieButBaddie · 24/06/2025 14:27

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 24/06/2025 14:25

😂

I am called Spam by certain members of my family 😁
I also call dd sausage but not pickle

Starlight1984 · 24/06/2025 14:27

ARichtGoodDram · 24/06/2025 14:15

Rarely. Poppet and Button are my two youngest.

A male HT once called me sausage first thing in the morning seconds after texting to see how his child, who he called sausage, was as she was unwell. It was in front of a full staff room.

It lead to months of meat based nicknames between staff in the school 😂

Love this 😂I was once on the phone to one of my bosses and had DH calling me. Switched calls to quickly say I would call DH back and then when I got back onto my boss said "sorry about that lovely" 😭

Piggywaspushed · 24/06/2025 14:28

I call mine peanut too. For reasons too complex to explain my family call me 'the Poultry'...

Occasionally, DH is fuckface.

Starlight1984 · 24/06/2025 14:29

My mum called me Munchkin up until the day she died 😊

Ilovepastafortea · 24/06/2025 14:29

I used to be called 'Piglet' because of my laugh. DH calls me this now as I tend to snort when laughing. 😂

DCs frequently called 'silly sausages'

Pet names no problem.

SapporoBaby · 24/06/2025 14:29

My mother calls my sibling ‘egg’ and I feel that’s worse than sausage.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 24/06/2025 14:29

Dad called my brother sausage and he called me pigeon.

Others were flower, flowerpot, petal, spadger, and my favourite - chuckle button.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 24/06/2025 14:30

OneLemonGuide · 24/06/2025 14:17

It’s disgusting and veganphobic. I can’t begin to imagine why anyone would call their child after the compressed flesh of murdered dead animal. It’s vile and borderline abusive.

😂

Starlight1984 · 24/06/2025 14:30

LoveRules · 24/06/2025 13:59

My favourite memory of my small three year old from the top of the slide yelling at me ‘I can’t go down because Sausage won’t go down!’ He’d been patiently waiting while a dad cajoled his kid from the bottom saying ‘Come on Sausage you can do it!’
😆

Awww this is brilliant and very cute 😁

I call one of my dogs ‘sausage’. It’s not his name but he doesn’t seem to have an opinion on it. He is not a dachshund either.

We call the two dogs chicken and monkey. I have absolutely no idea why.

JustSawJohnny · 24/06/2025 14:31

Sausage (usually preceded by a 'Shurrup, ya..'), pickle, piccalilli. narna (as in banana)....sometimes nobhead (under my breath, obvs), and every other term known to man that you would hate.

The one you'll really hate is Fig, because it really stuck and ended up being extended into Figgy, Figgle, Figgy Piggy, Figgle Wiggle, the Figatron 5000 and a million other variations that have probably raised your blood pressure considerably.

My apologies.

Oooh yes, Fig-a-la Pig-a-la!

I bet that pushed you right over the edge!
