Here it's chocolate cookie, silly sausage, you numpty

LambriniBobInIsleworthISeesYa · 24/06/2025 22:18

I do, just as my mother called me ‘Sausage’ and her mother called her ‘Sausage’. I never knew my great-grandmother on that side, but she likely called my Nanna ‘Sausage’ too. All the way back to my ancient ancestors in 3,100 BCE* there were probably mothers calling their little Ancient Mesopotamian ones ‘Sausage’. And I hope one day to have some grandsausages of my own.

So yes @Fragmentedbrain, you’re being massively unreasonable. It’s tradition to call your kids ‘Sausage’, and a sweet one at that.

*earliest written record of sausages according to Google

Poppets were plastic beads that popped together when I was a child in the late 1950s.

There is a new generation of poppet fidget toys now, but the word poppet originally meant a small homemade doll.

Rainiac · 24/06/2025 22:26

Chicken, sausage, and pumpkin are all nicknames in rotation at our house

SnowFrogJelly · 24/06/2025 22:27

Actually used to shorten it to Sausie

SnowFrogJelly · 24/06/2025 22:29

Old chap means something rude! Hmm

StartleBright · 24/06/2025 22:41

Sausage, sausage pie, sugar plum, sweet pea, honey plum, pickle pie, sis’s plum.

Sometimes I call our dog a silly sausage. Then he thinks he’s getting a sausage. I forget. So then I have to give him a treat. Which isn’t a sausage. He’s disappointed he didn’t get a sausage.

😂

Littledogball · 24/06/2025 22:48

No, Sausage Pie

AmyDuPlantier · 24/06/2025 22:49

Sausage? No.

Sausage Face? Frequently.

GreenTurtles3 · 24/06/2025 22:51

WhereYouLeastExpect · 25/06/2025 08:12

I called my daughter a sleepy potato this morning. I wonder how the OP feels about that.

Sweet potato I assume.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 24/06/2025 13:59

I’m sure a Big Brother contestant called everyone “Chicken” and it exploded after that.

I find it far more annoying than sausage.

I had a Mancunian friend who called me and his other female friends ‘chicken‘ all the time, and that was in the mid-90s, so long before Big Brother - but I do remember the BB contestant you mean and I think it did get more popular after that! She was from the north-east I think.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 25/06/2025 14:28

@DontTouchRoach

maybe it was more of a northern thing as I’d never heard it before her and I’m south west.

My god does it annoy me though. And it’s still being used here, bloody years later.

Hanovercrosse · 25/06/2025 18:03

It was Michelle Bass and Chicken Stu

DrPrunesqualer · 25/06/2025 13:26

No, sleepy potato. She was falling back asleep while I changed her nappy so I said "come on sleepy potato, let's get you ready for the day". I did call her sweet potato last week though.

StupidTrolleyThing · 26/06/2025 10:00

Is 'veganphobia' actually a thing 🤣

Silly sausage!

I forgot to add:
Petite pmme de terre
Petit saucisson
