Dd has one of her artworks on exhibit at the Royal Scottish Academy’s Annual Open Exhibition. I don’t think I’m BU to be so proud of her, although IRL she doesn’t think it’s worth mentioning to friends! She’s the youngest in the show.

Absolutely amazing OP, what a talent your daughter has! I would be so so proud too.

Topjoe19 · 03/05/2025 09:02

Wow you must be so proud!!! She is super talented.

TimeForABreak4 · 03/05/2025 09:03

Amazing, that's a huge achievement!

You'd never be unreasonable to be proud of any of your child's achievements. including minor ones.

FrenchandSaunders · 03/05/2025 09:03

That’s incredible! Well done to your DD.

InMyOpenOnion · 03/05/2025 09:03

It's absolutely wonderful to see your children growing up and achieving their dreams. Well done to your DD!

ellerman · 03/05/2025 09:05

Fabulous, and rightly proud. I'll look out for this.

HollidayRanger · 03/05/2025 09:08

That’s fantastic, how talented is she? She’s brilliant

rainbowstardrops · 03/05/2025 09:09

Your daughter painted that???!!! Wow! I’d be shouting it from the rooftops too!!!

JenniferAnistonForReals · 03/05/2025 09:10

Oh, wow, this is fantastic! Congratulations to your daughter. And absolutely not unreasonable to feel proud. This is wonderful.

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 03/05/2025 09:11

Wow! Thank you all. When we attended the opening reception last night she didn’t want me to do the proud mum thing! So it’s nice to share here!

She has an amazing talent. No wonder she has a painting in the exhibition. Well done!

VivienneDelacroix · 03/05/2025 09:11

This is a huge achievement. Congratulations to your daughter.

Radionowhere · 03/05/2025 09:11

Wow that is stunning! What talent! You should be very proud indeed OP

Whatahardlife · 03/05/2025 09:12

I think that's wonderful OP.

I think you have every right to be proud of her talent.

But I think you should be very proud that she isn't boastful and is being mindful of her friends and their feelings. Not everyone has such a lot going for them and such a bright future ahead of them and her consideration becomes her.

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 03/05/2025 09:12

You should be very proud. But not of her ‘talent’. Art, like nearly everything, is a mix of aptitude, enthusiasm and a huge amount of hard work and dedication. It is the 2nd two that you should be very proud off.

Well done her, there is a lot of work gone into that piece and in the build up to it.

Sarah2891 · 03/05/2025 09:12

Incredible painting! She's very talented.

You’ve got her in a nutshell.

I thought that was a photo!!!

What a talent!!!

EveryKneeShallBow · 03/05/2025 09:14

That is wonderful! Please help her to realise that it really is a huge achievement and she should enjoy the attention she gets as she clearly deserves it. Bravo!

CamillaMacauley · 03/05/2025 09:14

That’s a painting? Not a photograph? Amazing. She’s very talented.

DissDissOrDiss · 03/05/2025 09:15

Bloody hell, that’s an incredible portrait! I REALLY like it. She’s got a brilliant eye and hand. Congratulations @FriendlyLaundryMonster daughter!

That is stunning! Who is he looking at? What is he happy about? I love his quiet confidence that his scones are the best in Scotland. Why is he by water - is he selling or delivering?

Absolutely right to be proud!

SouthLondonMum22 · 03/05/2025 09:17

Is that her name below the painting? If so then she might not want it on mumsnet if she isn't even mentioning it to her friends.

Congratulations to your daughter.

Christwosheds · 03/05/2025 09:17

That painting is incredible, and at only 17, it’s really astonishing. Did her talent show from when she was tiny ? I am amazed that she hasn’t even been through Art College yet and is producing work of such complexity.
