Are people still driving Tesla’s?

EddyF · 26/03/2025 19:20

There was a time in my area (London) where every other car driven was a Tesla, including quite a few Ubers I used to order. Now, there are hardly any (I am not saying people don’t drive them anymore). Has anyone else noticed this?

Elon is so unlikable to me including his face. I don’t even think he is ‘smart’ as Trump/his supporters likes to call him. I will admit I did love the cars when I didn’t know much about him. Now, I can’t stand the cars as they just remind me of the awful Elon.

I live in California and am still driving mine (I’ve had it over 3 years). Most people don’t have the luxury of getting rid of a perfectly functional car because of a political issue. It is also wasteful to buy a new car for this purpose. Teslas are very popular where I live and it is not a MAGA area, evs make financial and environmental sense (I’m more concerned about air pollution than the impact of making the batteries) and the extensive charging network here makes them the best ev option. I find all the hatred towards Tesla drivers to be very childish, people bought them years ago before Elon was this crazy so we aren’t supporting him currently, he already got our money.

simpledeer · 26/03/2025 19:57

Really unpopular in my area and people have been carving swastikas into them.

Shegotanology · 26/03/2025 19:57

@Lolapusht We very rarely get to see the personality behind the makers/shareholders, of the products we buy. I imagine we'd be shocked.
And, no i don't drive a VDub. I'm very aware of the origins of those.

Piaha · 26/03/2025 19:57

Yes lots still driving, it would be insane to get rid of a car once you have it just because of Elon. And the vast majority of people can’t just change their car on a whim.

Saw one next to me yesterday while I was stuck in a traffic jam. Spotted the mahoosive tablet on dashboard first!

Do you seriously think he is a Nazi?

If that’s the case, I hope every single person responsible is caught and charged with racially aggravated criminal damage.

WinterMorn · 26/03/2025 19:56

And…..?

The partner had pots in the trolley!!!

LARGE pots!!!

The inhumanity!!

Won’t someone think of the pots???

There is a good chance they will be, if it is true, considering the number of cameras they have all over them.

LameBorzoi · 26/03/2025 20:03

Yes, of course. It's an awesome car, will likely outlast me, and me getting rid if it will not disadvantage rich idiots in the US one bit.

Lonelycrab · 26/03/2025 20:04

Still see loads around here, plenty of 24 plate ones. My bro’s family has a model 3 that they bought s/h, they’re about as anti Musk as most sane people are ie very but he’s not particularly bothered by the association and will probably keep it till it dies as he likes it as a car.

mushroomshroom · 26/03/2025 20:04

Some are fans of Trump & Musk

LameBorzoi · 26/03/2025 20:05

Tempted to pick up another one second hand. That won't support Musk, and they are cheap at the moment.

people are turning away from the brand

Londonrach1 · 26/03/2025 20:07

Never seen one working ..only ever seen one once that had exploded... thought they were an urban made up story. I'm in the Midlands.

Until recently, most people who bought them did at least partly for environmental reasons. That's a demographic that's kind of the opposite to Musk supporters.

mushroomshroom · 26/03/2025 20:07

Hope you don’t drive a VW…

Which employee is a Nazi?

Our village is full of them Hmm there's a new housing estate, and the must have's appear to be a Tesla, an untrained Cockapoo wearing a fleece and a pair of Hunter wellies.

I would struggle to get a cockapoo in a fleece and Hunter wellies . They must be better trained than they appear to you .

They are about 100 times less likely to explode than an ICE is.

mushroomshroom · 26/03/2025 20:10

@LameBorzoi are you saying no new buyers will be supporters?

It’s hilarious that people believe electric cars explode all the time. Most of the time it’s ICE cars. The amount of misinformation that people read and actually believe is astounding

Lolapusht · 26/03/2025 19:54

Hope you don’t drive a VW…

I don’t understand why musk fan boys always say this. Surely you can see the difference between connection to the nazi’s in 1937 and aligning yourself with nazis in 2025? Do people give it a seconds thought before they say that

LameBorzoi · 26/03/2025 20:16

mushroomshroom · 26/03/2025 20:10

@LameBorzoi are you saying no new buyers will be supporters?

New buyers may well be, but the majority on the road will have been purchased before things got really crazy.

Waterweight · 26/03/2025 20:17

Bluevelvetsofa · 26/03/2025 19:27

I saw one yesterday. The ( presumably) owner was walking ahead towards it whilst his partner struggled with a baby in a sling and a trolley with large pots, negotiating doors and steps.

What you didn't see is the arguement 5 minutes earlier about how she was more capable of carrying the pots or the discussion they had about why wearing a sling is important to her/the baby bonding Experiance 😅

But I agree Tesla sales are seriously down & if you can afford to upgrade your car every few years most people will be in the process of trading them in

VaccineSticker · 26/03/2025 20:17

What a childish post.
Love my Tesla - it’s an excellent all round car.
Its tech is light years away from the other brands.
All the anti-green, polluting brands are loving all this bad press and controversy against Tesla that Musk has created and are using this argument covertly to slow down the transition to renewable and cleaner energy because they are losing money.

But I do agree that Elon needs to step away from politics and focus on Tech.
