Are people still driving Tesla’s?

There was a time in my area (London) where every other car driven was a Tesla, including quite a few Ubers I used to order. Now, there are hardly any (I am not saying people don’t drive them anymore). Has anyone else noticed this?

Elon is so unlikable to me including his face. I don’t even think he is ‘smart’ as Trump/his supporters likes to call him. I will admit I did love the cars when I didn’t know much about him. Now, I can’t stand the cars as they just remind me of the awful Elon.

Gosh, so unusual to see a thread on this. Thank you OP
I drive a Tesla, I love it and I will continue to do so
I loathe Musk but not enough to give up a car I enjoy AND lose a shit load of money on it.

NRFT but I would expect some of these posters (especially the angry ones) are Tesla owners.

And you wonder why when there's so much ignorance being posted?!

you seem pretty upset and angry...

There's a demonstration at the Tesla dealership in Park Royal, London, today. In the photos in the media, there are fewer than 20 protesters.

I wonder if they took ubers there 😂

People are selling their Teslas. Who wants to buy them?

I feel childish, but good, when I shout Trumpmobile at a Tesla

I’d love a Tesla. They’re fantastic cars. I don’t care what people think about them. I find it hilarious that people get so worked up about the politics of another country. Maybe stay away from the news if you get worked up about it.

Exactly. Plus it isn’t very sustainable to replace a car and get a new one because of the company founder’s questionable political beliefs and mental heath

SumUp · 04/02/2026 21:34

An acquaintance has driven one for a long time - loathes Musk. He said that when he comes to replace it, he won’t buy a Tesla again, but because the market has changed. The choice in the electric vehicle market has improved so much. The major car brands now have electric vehicles as part of their range and Far Eastern manufacturers are also adding some great quality cars at competitive prices.

JitterbugFairy · 04/02/2026 21:59

Yes just upgraded ours 😀

WonkyConk · 04/02/2026 22:10

That’s a really good point, I used to see a lot more of them around and now you mention it I don’t see nearly as many. I live rurally but in an area very popular with Londoners!

Hoppinggreen · 05/02/2026 14:19

I see loads round here but I have noticed that the newer ones are not as obviously Tesla badged as mine is (3 years old)
When I got mine nothing else compared but the market has moved on and I may well get something different next time, still electric though

Zanatdy · 06/02/2026 16:08

Still see them in South London / Surrey border but definitely not as much as few years back

RubberyChicken · 06/02/2026 16:27

LameBorzoi · 26/03/2025 20:21

And the other thing is, no one is going to scrap them just for that. The more modern ones have an expected lifespan of about four times that of an ICE vehicle. They will still be on the road.

The average life of an ICE car is about 15 years, I dont think many people will be driving a 60 year old Tesla

Car burst into flames in the village and stopped traffic. Police ordered us to close windows. This was last year. Apart from that I honestly even seen one apart from on TV.

They're literally everywhere, how on earth can you never have seen one?!

sageGreen81 · 07/02/2026 07:47

Got one last year it’s been brilliant - I don’t get people who don’t see them sometimes there are literally 9 of them queueing out of our school at a time - a popular company car! Plus the ones entering old and new models Ys and 3s also see the occasional Model X still going strong.

Honestly there are so many of them. If I took my daughter’s class I’d say over half have a Tesla model Y if not more. I have seen BYDs increasing in popularity in hindsight I should have looked closer at one of them.

Londonrach1 · 07/02/2026 07:59

Very few around here but they were never may in my area so no change. Can't imagine anyone can afford to change their car like that

Not in my area. I'm in the midlands near a big car manufacturer so all the company cars are those. Everyone else drive the normal mix of cars.

rosiebr · 07/02/2026 09:44

Our Tesla is worthless now because of Elon so we will just run it into the ground

CruCru · 07/02/2026 16:11

I see many Teslas in central London (there are three on our street). I don’t think people who live in areas where the roads flood or have a serious pothole problem would want them - the battery is underneath.
