I tried.

I really did.

But JFC it's absolutely awful.

Really awful.

I’m really indifferent to Meghan Markle, but I have heard an awful lot of bad reviews for it, along the lines of what you say. I won’t be watching it as I don’t have time.

I think the biggest problem is the (seemingly) continual attempts to win people over, by whatever means that is, rather than just getting on with her life – raising her children and doing honest work that she enjoys, whatever that is.

Who knows, maybe this sort of thing is honest work that she genuinely enjoys and there is no further agenda. In which case, we should all just let it remain for consumption by the people who like it. There’s plenty out there that we’re not all going to enjoy consuming.

TeaRoseTallulah · 05/03/2025 08:38

Is it worth watching for comedic value ? 😂

Ihateboris · 05/03/2025 08:39

It's total, utter CRINGE..Confused

toastofthetown · 05/03/2025 08:41

Sorry, why do you think might be being unreasonable? MN has a section for TV shows and a Royal Family section if it’s specifically Meghan you want to talk about.

Tricho · 05/03/2025 08:41

It's just so forced

The ep with mindy kaling where out of nowhere (after being taught how to make a pb &j) MK says "ong so meghan I LOVE your style" and MM looks so faux surprised before reeling off where it's all from

Grim

I wager you feel I'm unreasonable for finding it awful. I want to know if others feel the same.

Nice try though. Off you pop.

I only managed two and a half episodes. I don’t hate her at all but what stood out to me was how little she knew her friends. I felt like she was trying to be someone she isn’t. I can’t really explain it but she wasn’t displaying the real her.

MorrisZapp · 05/03/2025 08:45

Any show with hired 'friends' is toe curling. Jamie Oliver did it and so did Nigella.

There was a thread on here about Black Doves recently, the movies which come up are things like Love Actually etc. Things stray sometimes!

Why are you apologising? All you need to say is, 'it's dreadful'.

Absolutely, Friend and I spent and hour last night laughing at the utter wanky shit. And that complete lack of chemistry she has with any of her beloved friends.

Im indifferent on MM but this was utter shite

Because one cannot simply dislike anything meghan does without an insidious motive, obv.

She should have done something about fashion, beauty and yoga, maybe with Doria. Would have watched that and MM knows that stuff. It's all very Trad Wife.

onetwothreefourfive11 · 05/03/2025 08:56

I enjoyed it

Really calming

chollysawcutt · 05/03/2025 08:56

I haven't watched it because it's not really my vibe. Plus, social media is full of free content like this, so I'm not sure what warrants a paid-for TV series.

BUT I do think she is kind of between a rock and a hard place. Her profession, her career, her training, is TV/acting. She dumped it for a career change (Royal Person) which spectacularly didn't work out for her.

She can no longer be an actor because she has become the story, so the only place for her to go (because why should she give up all that she trained for?) is a fictionalised, non-fiction version of herself. Basically, the only person who can write a script for her, is her. It's all very meta.

Wagered incorrectly. I haven’t seen it and have no plans to. I think you’re unreasonable for posting TV show reviews in AIBU when there are at least three other sections it would be better suited to and there’s already another thread on the show with 100+ posts if you do need to post your views on AIBU. Your post wasn’t so insightful it needed its own post…

Give it a rest

Viviennemary · 05/03/2025 09:05

Well she tried. But the Barefoot Contessa does it so much better if you are into that kind of thing. Nigella too. It's all a bit passé.

whowhatwhen · 05/03/2025 09:06

I completely agree, I didn't make it through the first episode. It's just sooooooooooo boring.

That was a hilarious programme.
The subtext into her and Geoffrey's marriage was brilliant.

Is it like a modern Martha Stewart sort of thing? Like a advert for her goods?

piscofrisco · 05/03/2025 09:12

I sort of think that if she wants to win people over and 'share' her life why does she not share her actual life-and film it at home as that's what people may be interested in? Otherwjse it's just a woman who people
May or may not think is a bit of a grifter talking about things about which she doesn't have any particular expertise. And so what's the point? She isn't interesting or knowledgeable enough in her own right to make it worth watching for her advice or opinions on cooking or styling or whatever. People are interested in her because of who she married let's face it and how that plays out in her home life.

Redpeach · 05/03/2025 09:14
