I have always said Crispy Cream. That is what they were called on any American tv show I watched growing up.

Now they are mainstream in the UK I often hear people call them “Crispy Crem”

Which one do you say?

I say crem but I know it is cream as I got an email from them a few years ago on the 1st of April saying that they were going to change the spelling in the UK to Crispy Cream as we were all pronouncing it wrong! They sent a second email saying it was an April fool but pointed out that it is pronounced as cream.

Caerulea · 03/02/2025 23:20

Crem? How very Hyacinth 'Bouquet'..

Serenandnova · 03/02/2025 23:20

Never had cause to say it tbf

MsDogLady · 03/02/2025 23:36

Southern U.S. — Cream

ANGIEPANGY77 · 03/02/2025 23:54

I'm an American southerner born in the state of the company's origin and it is definitely pronounced crispy cream.

BobbyBiscuits · 03/02/2025 23:58

Why would it not be 'cream'? It's not like something french, like 'creme de la creme' etc.
But more to the point, why call it that when most of them have nothing cream related? Maybe custard? They're shite anyway. The hole is too big and they have no flavour.

CaptainBeanThief · 03/02/2025 23:59

Cream,
I've just tried saying "crem" out loud and it made me sound like I was trying too hard to sound pretentious

mathanxiety · 04/02/2025 00:09

"Crispy Cream" (am in the US and that's how it's pronounced here).

AnotherDayAnotherIdea · 04/02/2025 00:23

If it were crem it would at lease have an accent on it like this krème.

MrsJHernandez · 04/02/2025 00:31

Crispy cream

@MasterBeth krem

@StrawberrySquash thats so funny! I have never heard anyone say crem for crematorium because its not a word most of us say often enough to need to abbreviate.

Ah bless you, you must be quite young and/or not be close to any older relatives. When you are at the age to have friends dying regularly, believe me there is a lot of talk about what people will be doing “after the crem”.

AcquadiP · 04/02/2025 01:04

The pronunciation is exactly the same as Crispy Creme. Creme is a French word meaning 'cream.' Creme is pronounced 'Crem.' So Crispy Crem.

GiveMeCoffeeandTV · 04/02/2025 04:40

Tilypu posted the definitive answer from the company - crispy cream

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 04/02/2025 04:42

Crispy Cream. Although I don't think I've ever spoken the words aloud, it's how I say it in my head.

ArcticBells · 04/02/2025 06:07

Cream

nationalsausagefund · 04/02/2025 06:12

I’m going to go ahead and assume all the people pronouncing it “crem” also say “marshmellow”.

TemporaryPosition · 04/02/2025 06:13

Mangoesintoapub · 03/02/2025 21:14

Does anyone say Crem Egg?

If it was a Kreme Egg and I didn't have an authoritative pronunciation to rely on, I might have said crem?

TemporaryPosition · 04/02/2025 06:15

AcquadiP · 04/02/2025 01:04

The pronunciation is exactly the same as Crispy Creme. Creme is a French word meaning 'cream.' Creme is pronounced 'Crem.' So Crispy Crem.

But they're American not French and 'Kreme' is just a spelling they've gone for in thier brand to make it sound fast foody I assume

CerealPosterHere · 04/02/2025 06:21

Well my dh called it Hirspy Herme as he couldn’t read the writing on the sign and thought it was a H. So that’s how we pronounce it here now!

XWKD · 04/02/2025 06:22

It doesn't matter how you pronounce it, it's still over-sweetened junk that tastes unremarkable.

illegalSausage · 04/02/2025 06:23

I think I do! How could you tell? 🤣

User7288339 · 04/02/2025 06:38

Krispy crem people are saying it wrong!

WashYourDamnRice · 04/02/2025 06:49

It's crispy cream.

Can't believe there's people out there that actually say crem egg.
I despise cream eggs so I shouldn't care, but I'm incredulous at this revelation.

Frangela · 04/02/2025 06:51

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 03/02/2025 21:06

Yeah I'm also Crispy Cream. I have heard the Crem alternative though. It reminds me of Anne Boleyn's 'Cremuel' in Wolf Hall 🤔

That is very literary of you. Though I am a huge Mantel fan, it reminds me of ‘crematorium’.😀

I love how total boob moments are immortalised forever and adopted as standard language. It makes life a little more fun.
