To ask how you pronounce Krispy Kreme?

I have always said Crispy Cream. That is what they were called on any American tv show I watched growing up.

Now they are mainstream in the UK I often hear people call them “Crispy Crem”

Which one do you say?

It would certainly brighten up those daytime funeral plan ads. Derek could chuckle about the latest one he went to.

Why are there accents over all the letters then?

Symmetry and artistic licence like they took liberty making crispy with a K once you break the rule for the first word why are we suddenly strict English for the second word?

Or the fact that in 1950's graphic design (which is when the logo was created) it was quite common to over or underline a word with an extension of one of the letters, particularly in logos designed by US designers.

I pronounce it Crispy Cream because that's how it's meant to be pronounced.

Why not just write it Kream?

It's not "strict English" it's pronouncing it like the company said it"s pronounced.

They must have known creme's associations

"crem" is clearly wrong anyway because of the final e at the end.

The people pronouncing it “Crem” must be sociopaths. No other explanation for it.

I love the krispy creamy pronounciation. It makes even more sense!

If they wanted it pronounced cream, they shouldn't have spelt it like Crème. Perhaps they don't have Creme Fraiche in the US?

I say “crem”, but now that a pp has pointed out that it sounds like an ad for a funeral director I’m not going to be able to say it without thinking of that! 😂, so I will probably say cream going forwards.

It's not spelled like crème though, it's kreme. So it's not the French word, and therefore not pronounced like it.

You wouldn't pronounce theme as them, so why would you say kreme as krem?

I remember a thread once about how to pronounce meme. Some then were saying mem. (Some even thought it was me me).
