It's nothing the court won't have seen or heard before.

Gaming that you aren't fit for court is very common in prison.

What he said about the poor girls is so revolting.

He's trying to get committed to a secure hospital rather than an ordinary prison. Secure hosipitals are safer for inmates such as he, not by much but he knows that he won't be safe in an ordinary prison even under rule 43 segregation.

What did he say?

That he was so glad and happy those children were dead.

Let's just say he will be glad to be just ill when some prisoners get hold of him.

He can't go to a secure hospital for chest pain, although I'd be surprised if this wasn't what he is aiming for.

I think it's telling he started shouting just as his comments about being glad were read out. He didn't have control of the situation and couldn't face it.

The sentencing is absolutely harrowing.

The parents, survivors, passers by who helped, emergency services witnessed the most horrific things, I hope they are all getting whatever support they need.

Everything about this case is horrendous, not least the fact that austerity meant that mental health services have been decimated. Imagine if he had actually been treated (and if necessary detained) before he became the man on the news.

The sad truth is this could have been prevented but the swing towards 'care' in the community has gone way too far. Leaving a very mentally ill young man in his bedroom on the internet for years doesn't count as 'care' by any stretch. The law needs to change in so many ways. There are so many young men like this in Britain and they are ticking time bombs.

The judge has no truck with it , which is good. He just didn't want to watch the distressing footage that they are now showing. Coward.

He won't get a whole life tariff due to his age at the time but given the number of charges, and the very late plea change, it should be a very long time.

I wish the judge could add on more for his behaviour today, so disrespectful to the families, but suspect he can't.

I was wondering how the targetting of the dance school event came about? He got in a taxi to go there, armed with the knives - how did he know the school existed and that there would be little girls there that precise morning?

I had thought that after examination, it was decided that he is not mentally ill and he hasn’t claimed to be but will be happy to be corrected
