To want Elon Musk to stay the fuck out of U.K. politics?

And German politics and just focus on the President he’s already paid for and turning X into a toxic wasteland.

But honestly I left X when Apartheid Clyde took over. The racism since he has been in place is off the charts.

noblegiraffe · 03/01/2025 14:22

What the actual fuck.

Can she sue for this? Just jaw-droppingly awful, and incredibly irresponsible in a time when MPs have been murdered.

Why should I emigrate to the US just because I like Elon Musk. He's a disrupter and people want the status quo.

That’s why you should move to a country that wants disruption. As you say yourself it’s not wanted here.

TheNoonBell · 03/01/2025 14:18

I'd prefer Labour to stay out of British politics.

But why? You may not like them but millions of people did vote for them.

mommatoone · 03/01/2025 14:23

I'm not saying I agree with EM getting involved in UK politics- BUT, this is bringing this issue right back to the public domain which can only be a positive thing. For those who disagree, feel free to view court documents or Oldham council meetings where survivors of these gangs tell their horrific stories. Not to mention supporters of these girls being banned from council meetings for having the balls to speak up for them. Oh, and it is still happening to this day. FACT

Combattingthemoaners · 03/01/2025 14:20

Once again, you’re deluded if you think everyone has an equal platform on X. You can type what you want but that isn’t freedom of speech. Politics are far more nuanced than merely stating the left or the right in every political debate.

You can type what you want

There you have it, freedom of speech.

I am utterly horrified by the gang rape cover up and wonder why it takes Elon Musk to raise awareness of it? He can stay the fuck in UK politics if this is what he does.

because the Labour Party and KS don’t give a toss about these girls and will do anything to silence it

the only free speech left is on X

Elon Musk isn’t raising awareness. Don’t be so naive.

There was an inquiry, published in 2022. Have you read it? The Tories (who were in power at the time) did read it but chose to do bugger all about it. I know that doesn’t help with your blame Labour narrative but sometimes facts do matter.

YANBU

That other thread was batshit. If it was real, then there are a hell of a lot of numpties on Mumsnet at the moment.

Thick as mince

“Rape genocide apologist”

What does that even mean?

This is the quality of debate that adults are engaging in?

noblegiraffe · 03/01/2025 14:26

Are there Musk fans on this thread who think a ‘disrupter’ is great who are willing to defend the above post he made about Jess Phillips?

That isn’t freedom of speech. I could write a book on whatever I wanted but it doesn’t mean it’s going to be published and read widely.

BIossomtoes · 03/01/2025 14:27

Not to mention supporters of these girls being banned from council meetings for having the balls to speak up for them.

So why does Oldham Council want yet another inquiry then? Make it make sense!

@Gatecrashermum Twitter was a great place for
free speech before Musk? Seriously? Which version of Twitter were you using, cos mine deleted people for saying that women don't have penises before Elon came along.

Musk has ruined Twitter

It is full of his propoganda and is used by him to influence the hard of thinking with his bot farms and shills

Whether it is published or read widely is not what accounts to freedom of speech, the fact that you were allowed to write that book in the first place does.

Bring it on - he seems to be lifting the lid on a whole can of worms.

TheFairyCaravan · 03/01/2025 14:32

It’s the same people who didn’t want any unelected, foreign interference in our politics who are now cheering Elon Musk on. I wish he’d take a one way trip to Mars, personally.

That is utter rubbish. Censorship is the denial of free speech. In previous centuries or decades censorship was book burning or the removal of content in poems/art/literature. Now it is adjusting algorithms to push certain content and hide (censors) others. It is the exact opposite of freedom of speech. Can you think why a person like Musk would be touting his social media company as the defender of free speech??

Absolutely. I’d love to see the overlap of Musk supporters with Leave voters. I bet it’s massive.

Our politicians utterly fail us. Musk is holding them to account.

Comedy thread! Brilliant. I’m assuming you don’t actually believe that Elon musk aims to or does hold power to account. He serves his own interests only.

usernother · 03/01/2025 14:35

I'm not against him saying what he wants on his own platform. But I don't think what he says should cut any sway in this country.

Edited

I agree censorship is the denial of freedom of speech, which is why Twitter is fantastic now.
Previously, comments would be deleted, that is the epitome of censorship. Youtube doesn't even publish a comment it doesn't like to begin with!

NOTANUM · 03/01/2025 11:55

I agree and am worried that his core base are those who don’t do their research or read alternative views.

On the basis of the previous thread, I would add:

  • black and white thinking
  • failure to grasp the bigger picture
  • lack of insight into how other people think completely differently, rather than being carbon copies who are on the ‘other team’

“Oh, you wouldn’t mind if he was on your team, would you?” While the context of this man’s views is particularly concerning, no, I don’t think anyone should be buying influence like this. Even if I agree with everything they think and do.
