And German politics and just focus on the President he’s already paid for and turning X into a toxic wasteland.

If Farage isn’t willing to support Tommy Robinson, I’m not convinced Badenoch is that stupid.

For some reason, I can't see Yaxley-Lennon being thrilled about the idea of Kemis support. I don't think he likes people who worked at McDonalds.

When it’s accompanied by demands for Tommy Robinson to be freed and for the King to dissolve Parliament, that rather distracts from the plight of the girls, doesn’t it? Musk fucked up there, yes?

No, not really. Musk is entitled to his opinion - especially on the platform he literally owns!
It's only on here that people seem obsessed with Tommy Robinson and the various other political footballs.
In the real world people care about the systematic abuse of young girls and the UK govt's attempt to block a new enquiry into it.
You and I are seemingly in those two different camps, so we're not going to agree.

Tommy Robinson fans are probably a small subset of Reform-type supporters, let alone Tories. Throwing your weight behind a founder of the English Defence League would be a vote loser, particularly if you demonstrably did it because you were selling your party for foreign influence.

This thread is fascinating in that it’s really highlighting the black and white thinking that’s become so prevalent in certain quarters (and rather ironically is a fall out of the American political system).

For example,I totally agree with Musk highlighting the issue around the Child rape gangs. Some posters seem to think that must mean I agree with everything about Musk. It really is an American view. I find it fascinating that certain quarters cannot seem to comprehend people viewing things on an issue by issue basis. But this practice seems to be increasingly common for certain groups. I’m not sure whether it’s lack of critical thinking or an inability to navigate more complex perspectives- but it’s becoming worryingly common.

You’re on the Elon Musk thread, so it shouldn’t be any surprise that that is what is being discussed.

He’s now turned on Farage and is calling for him to be replaced as leader of Reform due to the latter disagreeing with him on Tommy Robinson. So much for free speech.

That's interesting, it could either make Farage more popular if he sticks to what he said about Robinson, or it depends on whether Farage really wants to be the leader of Reform for the next 5 or so years. He has said that it would be great if Musk donates to Reform, but I hope Farage doesn't give in over TR.

So you don't care that he is making false accusations about the UK Prime Minister and a female MP?

ContactNightmare · 05/01/2025 17:34

Musk isn’t popular on the UK. His opinions are I nuanced and reactive. He’s someone who takes ketamine fgs. He likes people who play his games - no one has to give him political influence though

Isn't it under a supervised medical prescription? I don't know much about Ketamine but does he have it prescribed in small doses legally?

Takoneko · 05/01/2025 17:39

Elon Musk does not care about sexual abuse of women or teenage girls.

He immediately offered Russel Brand support when he was accused of sexually assaulting a 16 year old child.

He’s happy to support Trump, who has been found to have raped a woman.

He replatformed Andrew Tate who was using his X account and other social media to contact underage girls and groom them into joining his webcam business.

Anyone who thinks he cares about sexual abuse of women is deluded. This is an “our women” mindset. His reaction to sexual abuse and grooming gangs is very different when it’s right wing men doing the grooming and abuse.

Therearentenoughnamesleft · 05/01/2025 17:39

I'm just watching the news and find it disturbing the hold this man has on the public. It feels like he's playing a game to see what he can get away with

CandlesClementines · 05/01/2025 17:40

No I just don't really care what he thinks?
It's not law, he's just a rich man splurging stuff out.

His dad has just been on the news sm I supposed to care what he thinks now as well 😬

You don't highlight issues by lying about them/spreading mistruths and partial truths. The more important an issue is the more contemptible it is to lie about it because you make it harder for the real truth to get out. If he was merely leaving Twitter as a free speech space in which other people were hashing this out I would have more respect.
And Elon previously accused a man of being a paedophile - the only reason he got of a libel charge is because he successfully argued that he was only joking/that pedo is just an insult and that most people would know he wasn't telling the literal truth so it didn't damage anyone's reputation. Having someone who themselves says that they "don't mean it" when they talk about this stuff online, then weighing in on the UK grooming scandal is not helpful.
During Amber Heard's libel trial there were several gleeful online commentators who talked about it being "the end of me too" (because it was a woman found to be lying so that undermined the whole movement). Some of those same people are also saying that its OK for Musk to spread mistruths about the grooming scandal, or its OK for Vance to spread mistruths about immigrants eating cats because its "drawing attention to an important issue." But can't see the double standards

This thread is about Musk's influence on UK politics. He has suddenly turned on Farage so discussing it here does not detract from discussions elsewhere on MN about the terrible crimes of the grooming gangs and other abusers.

You need to stop accusing other posters on this thread of about not caring about CSE and VAWG.

Edited

Reform voters who have been delighted to see Musk tweeting 'Vote Reform!' And 'Only Reform can save the UK' and who were all for Musk interfering politically in the UK if it meant £100 million coming their way are now having to deal with Musk tweeting that their hero Farage is a useless leader and trying to interfere in their politics.

Like, if he doesn't understand what a totem Farage is for Reform, what else does he not understand? Was he actually a bellend all along?

A quick Google says otherwise.

If he's using it recreationally then views are obviously different to medical use.

Ketamine TRD

Ketamine is a licensed anaesthetic drug. It can also work as an antidepressant but has not been licensed for this use. A closely related version, nasal esketamine, does have a licence but has not been…
