And German politics and just focus on the President he’s already paid for and turning X into a toxic wasteland.

I’m not a Labour supporter nor a particular fan of Starmer, but it’s pretty obvious to see that Musk has been gunning for Starmer for months and this grooming gang focus is only the latest thing he is trying to throw at him. It’ll be something else next week.

Feel free to demand an inquiry, the woman in charge of the last one said that what was needed wasn’t more inquiries or research or discussion but actual concrete action. But you do you.

So if they’re all scumbags why do you have any faith that you’re going to see anything different? I expect you’re going to say Badenoch is different which is somewhat difficult to believe as she was part of the last government.

I don't, I am not a Tory.

Xenia · 05/01/2025 11:40

it is very good to have more publicity about it so we try to ensure girls are protected in the future. There has been a change in how we see underage girls which is a very good thing. If you are under age you cannot consent even if it looks like consent. We should also without fear or favour be allowed to state ages eg where certain criminals are originally from etc. That does not mean anyone is saying that the 1.2m Pakistanis in the UK are all like this (one of our biggest ethnic groups of new comers)

PandoraSox · 05/01/2025 11:40

It is heartening that some posters on this thread championing Musk have long been expressing their concerns on MN about the victims of grooming gangs and have not simply jumped on the latest Labour bashing bandwagon.

Of course she did because it wasn't in her interest to expose Starmer et al. and god knows who else.

littledrummergirls · 05/01/2025 11:42

To be fair, the rapists that abused those poor girls are scum, personally I think they should have their balls cut off and be made to wear a big sign at all times saying they are a convicted rapist, but we try to live in a society where those in charge retain their humanity.

Those like Musk using the plight of of those poor girls and to continue the abuse of them by politicising their ordeal are fucking disgusting excuses for human beings. They are using rape to further their ambition and if you think that this is OK, then frankly you are part of the problem.

No-one is minimising the abuse and suffering, but some are weaponising it. That is fucking horrific.

So why do you expect to see anything different? Who’s not a scumbag?

ACynicalDad · 05/01/2025 11:43

I'd be delighted to see a cap on what anyone can give to a political party at a few £k a year and if you aren't registered to vote in the UK you shouldn't be allowed to vote and if a company doesn't pay tax here they shouldn't be allowed to donate here, there's an argument for stopping all organisations giving to political parties to buy influence, be it spacex a property developer or a union. The party income would plummet. I'm not that keen on government funding political parties, but if they say they got £50p for every vote in the last general election each year from central funds, they would be more focused on our priorities than their paymasters.

Because her concerns were for the victims and not your political vendetta?

I don't expect to see any different. Where have I said I did? All politicians are scumbags, just some are decidedly worse than others.

What’s your opinion on Tommy Robinson?

If her concerns were truly for the victims and there was nothing to hide there would be no problem in having this inquiry.

What has that got to with the price of fish?

Well, this is a thread about Musk and Musk has been calling for the release of Tommy Robinson. Do you agree?

How can you offer recommendations without a full report?

CandlesClementines · 05/01/2025 11:49

@blossomtoes

Do you think this crew can be trusted to look at all of this in forensic detail

Another inquiry, another 7 years, another £200m instead of implementing the recommendations in the IICSA report?

He was found guilty of contempt of court, which is a civil case. Do I think he should be kept in a maximum security prison in solitary confinement for a civil case? No, absolutely not.

CandlesClementines · 05/01/2025 11:51

@noblegiraffe I'm interested in your comment that you are not a labour supporter. I've seen you holding this gov too account on education many times I think it's frustrating you.

But I don't see you as a Tory?

lljkk · 05/01/2025 11:51

Public Inquiries cost a huge amount of money & in this case would just end up making a lot of conclusions that were officially made by the previous Inquiry AND relate to policy decisions that are long obsolete. It is insane to promote spending more money to repeat all that.

DuncinToffee · 05/01/2025 11:52

There is a full report!

I think the people at the heart of this need to be listened to hopefully they'll all join up.

They should all lead any inquiry along with psychological experts to help unlock why memos went out saying 11 year old made choices about drug's and sex.

There is no evidence of these memos
