And German politics and just focus on the President he’s already paid for and turning X into a toxic wasteland.

It feels like at attempt to destabilise the UK government

Trust me, Starmer's doing that perfectly well on his own...

🤣 Ooooo do tell us how. Oh the drama!

Souffl3 · 05/01/2025 06:53

Jumpingthruhoops · 05/01/2025 02:55

Presumably you'd be saying the same thing if the Tories or Reform had won? 🤔

Errrr yes and that IS what happened after Brexit even though the country was told bare faced lies. It’s what the US have said even though they’ve got a loon of a president back that has broken the law.

dottiehens · 05/01/2025 07:01

At least someone is still paying attention to the U.K. Most people feel is a lost case.

No most don’t, most are bloody glad we’re in a different place than we were the last 14 years when our services were run down and we were lead by a party only interested in their backbenchers.

GiveMeSpanakopita · 05/01/2025 07:18

For me, I think it's crazy that some posters seem angrier about the fact that Musk is talking about the mass rape of vulnerable girls, than they are about the mass rape of vulnerable girls!

I mean, I'm sure they're not, because that would be sociopathic and most MN-ers are pretty straight in my experience. But honestly that's how it's coming across from some posts on other threads: angrier with Musk than they are with the rapists!

I cannot understand it. Crazy times we live in.

Musk is using the abuse of these girls for his own political ends. He did not care about them, he's just seeing them as a tool to attack a government he doesn't like.

If he genuinely cared then he'd want the recommendations of the inquiry followed. Some actual tangible action to help stop this.

Being angry at him for using these girls as propaganda does not mean that people are not angry that the attacks were carried out.

BIossomtoes · 04/01/2025 11:43

How is implementing the recommendations of the inquiry that’s already taken place brushing it under the rug?

Because the inquiry has been conducted as a cover up.

Betchyaby · 05/01/2025 10:23

Don’t be ridiculous. Have you actually read the report or even just the recommendations? Even if you were right, what makes you think another inquiry wouldn’t also be a “cover up”.

HRTQueen · 05/01/2025 10:35

Absolutely agree his influence is very concerning we are in a position where anyone of influence speaks against him he has the capacity to destroy them in ways that only a few years ago didn’t seem possible.

politicians would fear news paper editors, the situation now is far more toxic

He will turn on Trump two megalomaniacs running the country isn’t going to last long

it will be entertaining at first but ultimately it’s very destructive for democracy

Because the lime light has truly been shone on this situation, the government knows they can't get away with it if they were to conduct an inquiry now.
There were serious failings across police departments, councils, social services and the courts. We all know Starmer was head of the CPS at the time which is one of the reasons why he will refuse to have this looked into. Total scum!

So what was the reason the Conservative party refused to look into it? Starmer made them do it?

CandlesClementines · 05/01/2025 11:16

I knew a lot about this at the time but I know a hell of a lot more now, the threads are packed with clips and reports and articles and that's down to Elon musk tweets.

We all know a lot more about it this travesty

CandlesClementines · 05/01/2025 11:18

I didn't know a memo was sent out from Gordon brown and Jacqui Smith asking police not too make arrests because these girls had made life style choices.

Caveat we don't know who came up with it.

They need to answer questions.

Who knows? They are a bunch of scumbags too.

CandlesClementines · 05/01/2025 11:19

@DuncinToffee one of the victims said they tried to speak too the conservatives for 12 years.

I personally think this is bigger then party politics?

This relentless circling back to Starmer just highlights the real reason certain people are focusing on the grooming gangs. Not out of any concern for the victims or for justice, but as an attack on Starmer.

It is bigger, at least Labour has pledged to implement the recommendations from the report.

3 years after the inquiry reported.

And after the Tories had 2 years to start implementing them. Good to see that the recommendations will be followed

You know the extract from court papers that has been posted on Twitter by Musk and others? The one detailing the horrific crimes of the rapist Mohammed Karrar? Karrar was prosecuted, tried and sentenced to life in 2013.

Who was DPP at the time the prosecution was made?

In many other cases the criminals were given short sentences and released to live amongst their victims, in some cases they went on to rape again!!

So if they’re all scumbags why do you have any faith that you’re going to see anything different? I expect you’re going to say Badenoch is different which is somewhat difficult to believe as she was part of the last government.

CPS/DPP has no control over the sentences judges hand down, btw.
