Is it just me? I don't think it's aged well at all, I thought the finale was rubbish!

SOSausage · 27/12/2024 00:37

I loved it

RunVelma · 27/12/2024 00:37

It’s just you.

CosyRoby · 27/12/2024 00:37

It’s never been funny

minipie · 27/12/2024 00:38

It wasn’t super funny but it was sweet and nostalgic and had a good ending!

Enough4me · 27/12/2024 00:38

I'm on team loved it.

WhoPutTheBomp · 27/12/2024 00:38

It is finished now, so.you can relax and never have to dread a new episode.

RunVelma · 27/12/2024 00:39

I laughed out loud a fair few times and was bawling my eyes out at the end. It felt really natural to watch, not forced like some shows are when they get together years after.

Yabu!

YesIdolovehim · 27/12/2024 00:39

Funny and so touching. I cried and I’m a heartless cow

Onceuponatimethen · 27/12/2024 00:41

We loved it!

Namenamchange · 27/12/2024 00:43

I don’t think it laugh out loud, but it’s an easy watch, and the characters are likeable.

JoanOfArchers · 27/12/2024 00:44

I’ve never watched a single episode and wanted to tune in last night but DH said, apart from Gavin & Stacey name any other characters, I admitted defeat. Therefore I can’t really comment 🤣

JoanOfArchers · 27/12/2024 00:45

Mind you, saying that we never watched Game of Thrones either but we watched the last one!

Moveoverdarlin · 27/12/2024 00:45

I thought the first half was crap, it got much better in the second half. The subplot with the role play stuff between Gavin and Stacey was weak and found Joanna Page's acting cringeworthy. I think she’s just playing herself.

WallaceinAnderland · 27/12/2024 00:46

For those who found it funny, which were the bits where you laughed?

Maybe I need to watch it again as I didn't find it funny but the previous series had loads of great, really funny moments.

I didn't get Gwen and Dave. There was no chemistry between them before and none now, truth be told.

Dawn and Pete, just a bit crap.

Yellowcakestand · 27/12/2024 00:46

Hyped up rubbish. Left saying was that it

Tearsricochet · 27/12/2024 00:48

I loved it!!

MoonWoman69 · 27/12/2024 00:51

It's always been crap! Can't stand James Corden for a start... But each to their own!

It is a shame that James Corden is such a twat in real life. Ruth Jones broke up a marriage too IIRC so she’s not any better. I love Smithy and Nessa though.

Zoomo · 27/12/2024 00:58

Classic Christmas fairy tale in Barry. What's not to love. Great to see all the old characters carrying on as they do. I've missed them.

FizzyBisto · 27/12/2024 01:11

Much as I loved the finale, I think that plotline was a bit weak. It seemed to be engineered purely to get Dave - well, his bus - there with them at the end. Gwen is a major character, who would of course have wanted to be there with them; but Dave likely wouldn't have been there if he hadn't been with Gwen.

I suppose they could have paired him up with Bryn, but (unlike Bryn) Dave has never shown any suggestion before of being anything but straight.

FizzyBisto · 27/12/2024 01:16

It was never intended to be one of those shows with non-stop gags, that you could dip into for a few random minutes, laugh loudly and then turn away.

You needed to be in it for the long haul; and it's a skillful mixture of multi-faceted characters in an ensemble cast, drama, pathos and humour - it was never meant to be just a straightforward comedy show at all.

Justsaywhatyoumean123 · 27/12/2024 01:19

@PheasantPluckers I dislike James Corden and know what you mean. I find it more heart warming than funny. French and Saunders, Ab Fab would have me rolling about, this is more tear jerky sort of awwww x

Richard1985 · 27/12/2024 01:19

It reminded me of Only Fools and Horses when that came back. The characters are familiar and likeable so it’s nice to see what they are up to - but it’s really not very funny any more

And it was never particularly laugh out loud to start with
