XL bully shot

Local XL bully shot today. The owner is saying on social media that the dog was harmless but I've seen it go for a a small child before. Why are these dogs 'harmless" until they injure or kill

I've met tiny terriers that have scared me more than most of the XL bullies I've met.

It's not the breed it's the owners. XLBs are popular with roadmen for defensive purposes.

Not an XL, but the best dogs I've ever met were staffies.

It's absolutely the breed. It's naive to say otherwise.

Another one. An 8 month old baby in a serious condition.

"Another family member said the baby and the dog were "like two peas in a pod"."

How on earth people make a statement like this with a straight face! A baby is a baby and a dog a dog. They are not peas in a pod, they are completely different. The vulnerable baby needs protection from the dog.

You just know they’re the types of idiots who think the dog sniffing the baby means he loves her.

I hope they get long custodial sentences.

The dog had a history of aggression.
I hope they throw the book at them.

Because they are too stupid and poorly-educated to actually know what "two peas in a pod" means.

I think it’s really sad. I’m trying to imagine the loving dogs of my life turning on me, or anyone, and struggling. Having a dog you love, in your home, a member of the family, and euthanising it because of a theoretical danger- I would struggle with that.

However, my loving dogs were supervised around children. I guess from the fact this baby is still alive that the mum was close at hand.

I’m not defending anyone. I’m just putting myself in the shoes of someone with that dog, and imagining why they would risk it. The mum probably had very little choice given she’s very young and living with her gran and brother. I wonder if social services were aware.

I get your point, because my dog is absolutely part of my family, but this one had already bitten someone badly enough the police got involved and asked for it to be surrendered. If you’re going to keep it after something like that, there’s no excuse for letting it anywhere near a baby.

Why are people so fucking thick?!

Who'd put a monster dog in a travel cot in with a defenceless baby! The same type of person who introduces men friends/friends (after knowing them for 5 mins) as uncles or step dadies and shock horror the lovely uncle isn't so lovely. Idiots. Putting their children last

Are you saying that your dog is the love of your life, ie your sexual and romantic partner? Isn't that illegal?

Porcuporpoise · 14/12/2024 13:45

I think, as a nation, the British have the same attitude towards dogs as the US does towards guns. No matter the facts, no matter the harm they do we just see them as an essential part of everyday life and make excuses every time something goes wrong.@

I live alone with my dog. She is my family. You don't get to say what other people refer to their companion animals as. It has no affect on your life whatsoever.
BTW, you don't have to have sexual relations for someone to be family. Think about it.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. My comment about 'sexual relations' was in response to @SensibleSigma describing her dog as the love of her life; this term is normally reserved for romantic/sexual partners (rather than family members in general).

If that baby dies, I hope the mum, her brother and their grandmother are done for manslaughter because it is their fault the baby was attacked

Edited

You misread. I wondered why you were being so creepy 🤣
“I’m trying to imagine the loving dogs of my life turning on me” is what I said!

It’s unthinkable that little Tobi, long legs Max or Diggles would attack someone.

It’s easy to see someone else’s dog as a potential monster. Harder to see your own.

As far as the original subject of this post the owners had a vigil last night and proceeded to set off a load of bastard fireworks off leaving my dog terrified 🤷🏻‍♀️

What utter imbeciles.

I swear no other 'type' of dog attracts such moronic ownership as XL Bully type.

A man was torn asunder by his three XL Bullies in front of his son - in USA- at a PLAYGROUND.

XLBullies seem to be mentally extremely unstable.

Seriously posted photo of dog with a BONER?

Pits and XL bullies are used for sexual purposes -revolting but true.

Horrifying beyond belief.
Interesting that the dogs went for the owner rather than the children. You'd think that a predator would go for the easier prey?

This does not surprise me, people worship these dogs because of their raw animal 'masculinity'.
If small cute dogs are regarded as fur babies it's not that much of a stretch for larger dogs to be regarded as fur fuck buddies 🤷🏻‍♀️
