DH wouldn't dance to our special song

Last night, at a bday party, our special song comes on. We are standing in a group, I look at DH with my most alluring face, say "our special song, let's dance", but he didn't respond. It was humiliating.

Has anyone else ever experienced such rejection and what do you think should do now?

i doubt anyone else clocked your “alluring face”

napody · 23/11/2024 13:46

Can't comment unless you post a photo of your 'most alluring face' 😂

He was probably mortified!

mrstumbler · 23/11/2024 13:46

@marmitesarnies sorry op but you saying your most alluring face has me embarrassed too 😆

Cheesyfootballs01 · 23/11/2024 13:48

What does the alluring face look like?? 🤣

Cynic17 · 23/11/2024 13:48

Oh come on, OP. Even those of us who have a "special song" would rather chew off our own leg than dance to it in public! Your poor husband. Assuming everything else is OK between you, please just forget this - it's not a big deal. It's not "rejection" and you do nothing (apart from carry on as normal).

Cosyblankets · 23/11/2024 13:49

Such rejection?
😅🤣

clickclack8 · 23/11/2024 13:49

i’m guessing you were a very bit pissed and just surfaced with a horrific hangover?

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 23/11/2024 13:50

He probably didn't want to make your friends all cringe any more than they were probably already cringing in response to your "alluring face".

There's a time and a place for this stuff, OP. And a birthday party with all your mates probably isn't that time or place.

shuffleofftobuffalo · 23/11/2024 13:50

Also here to see the alluring face.....

marivaux · 23/11/2024 13:50

Were you a bit tipsy when you were doing this 'most alluring face'? Because I'm picturing you as being a bit tipsy when you were doing this 'most alluring face'.

"Ooh, love, is are shpecial shong, les dansh 🥴 💃"

pikkumyy77 · 23/11/2024 13:50

Not if you are british, I guess.

dudsville · 23/11/2024 13:51

Aw, we don't have a special song as such, but i would hope that my dh would acknowledge me at least if he heard it

sandgrown · 23/11/2024 13:51

I have . And it turned out he wouldn’t dance to “our song” because he was having an affair and felt guilty. Hopefully in your case he just didn’t want to dance in front of friends

clickclack8 · 23/11/2024 13:51

you say you felt embarrassed op

but actually him not rising to the
alluring face was the very least embarassing action here

Littletreefrog · 23/11/2024 13:52

I hate to imagine how drunk you were and what your alluring face looked like. If this isn't usual behaviour for him I imagine you were less alluring than you imagined.

takealettermsjones · 23/11/2024 13:52

There are so many parts of this that I want to ask about... 😂

But the main one - why was it humiliating/a rejection? Lots of people don't like dancing in public, or public displays of affection. So he didn't want to dance. He hasn't rejected you personally.

Waterboatlass · 23/11/2024 13:52

Maybe he wasn't in a dancing mood? I love dancing in a lot of circs but when I'm not feeling it it's really embarrassing to try and I absolutely hate being dragged up when I'm not ready.

JustinThyme · 23/11/2024 13:52

Flipping heck, OP, it’s not the 6th form disco! Nobody dances to “their special song“ in public. How drunk were you?

Have a bacon sandwich and two paracetamol and forget about it. And prey everyone else has.

(I’m now googling “alluring face” and wishing I hadn’t)

ilovesooty · 23/11/2024 13:52

I expect he was embarrassed.

OliviaRodrighost · 23/11/2024 13:52

Depends! Are we talking the Macarena or Let’s Get It On?

Seashellssanctuary · 23/11/2024 13:53

What should you do now??

LTB obviously

Waterboatlass · 23/11/2024 13:53

Stand and deliver?

clickclack8 · 23/11/2024 13:53

sandgrown · 23/11/2024 13:51

of all things to feel guilty about… not dancing with you was one of the minor ones!

Onlyvisiting · 23/11/2024 13:53

This is a reverse surely??
But the answer is-
Agree never to mention your utter cringiness again and hope your friends were too pissed to remember 🤣
