DH wouldn't dance to our special song

Last night, at a bday party, our special song comes on. We are standing in a group, I look at DH with my most alluring face, say "our special song, let's dance", but he didn't respond. It was humiliating.

Has anyone else ever experienced such rejection and what do you think should do now?

Those two graphics above! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭

Spirallingdownwards · 23/11/2024 14:54

Are you Sarah Hadland in Miranda?

FleaDog · 23/11/2024 14:55

We Don't Have To Take our Clothes Off (or dance). by Jermaine Stewart?

Do you always take yourself so seriously?

That's a bit unfair!

DisforDarkChocolate · 23/11/2024 14:57

I'm now remembering the horror that was Carol Vorderman's sexy dance face on Strictly.

Why did you do that to me @marmitesarnies!

NoisyDenimShaker · 23/11/2024 14:36

LMAO! That's straight out of Bridget Jones!

I had that exact thought!

"Really top night. Blurry brill. Love husband. Bessfren. Ooof. Tumbled over"

Pinkissmart · 23/11/2024 15:00

Tipsy Song

OP was expecting her husband to join her dancing in a table top.
He avoided eye contact and is facing consequences as we speak

I know you’re never going to show us your most alluring face (which is a shame, and against MN rules. It comes just under the one about parking diagrams) BUT at least tell us the song so we can imagine for ourselves.

My guess is Hot Stuff by Donna Summer

I went to a one wedding where, when the DJ announced the newly weds' first dance, they got up - with the guests all standing around expecting a romantic waltz/shuffle around - and started really shaking it to "Hot Stuff".
They were such quiet and studious people (in a nice way) normally.
It felt like the Crocodile Rock bit in Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Dweetfidilove · 23/11/2024 15:07

This thread is quite hilarious, but I'm surprised OP is the only person who looks at their lover alluring or asks to dance.

Vaxtable · 23/11/2024 15:10

Looking at him and him not responding is not humiliation, get a grip

if you wanted to dance ask him

Happy Jump GIF

This is the friends joining in! 🤣🤣

Myattention · 23/11/2024 15:10

If I tried an alluring face with DH, he would think I had wind! I couldn’t tell you what our first dance song was. It’s not important. It was Bryan Adams, that all I remember.

Meezer2 · 23/11/2024 15:11

Is the song 'My Neck, my back?' By Khia?

Uricon2 · 23/11/2024 15:13

True by Spandau Ballet was the last dance smooch song of my generation, it then became the wedding dance for subsequent unions and then Silver Wedding parties. I reckon my lot will be doing it on our Zimmers at the Golden Weddings in a few years Grin

Sorry, I digress, but it is age dependent. Perhaps he's forgotten all the moves to the Prince Charming? Or his knees won't allow pogoing without serious injury?

AdviceNeeded2024 · 23/11/2024 15:13

Thanks OP for the first thread that’s made me laugh in a long time! 😂

TheMaenads · 23/11/2024 15:14

NoisyDenimShaker · 23/11/2024 14:42

Maybe it was the Birdie song! 😂

I’ll have you know that my Birdie Song dance is very alluring!

LBFseBrom · 23/11/2024 15:15

It all sounds very immature to me. I expect he was embarrassed, that's often the case. He isn't rejecting you for goodness sake, just didn't want to make a big thing out of dancing publicly to a particular song.

Dance to it at home with him, when you are on your own.

cherish123 · 23/11/2024 15:16

I would have felt humiliated if I were your DH. I moved have been mortified if my spouse did this in public. In the house alone, fine.

AgnesX · 23/11/2024 15:18

marivaux · 23/11/2024 13:50

Were you a bit tipsy when you were doing this 'most alluring face'? Because I'm picturing you as being a bit tipsy when you were doing this 'most alluring face'.

"Ooh, love, is are shpecial shong, les dansh 🥴 💃"

😆

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 23/11/2024 15:21

Am wondering if your special song is 'She Fucking Hates Me'...

Maybe it should be, now.

januaryjan · 23/11/2024 15:30

clickclack8 · 23/11/2024 13:45

i doubt anyone else clocked your “alluring face”

Have I stepped into an episode of Miranda? 😃

SocksAndTheCity · 23/11/2024 15:31

Was it Too Drunk To Fuck by the Dead Kennedys? 😀

Itjustkeepsoncoming · 23/11/2024 15:32

Ask him why he didn't respond, and tell him how it made you feel.

Dumbledoresniece · 23/11/2024 15:32

I understand what you mean. I once asked an ex to dance with me in the living room, a bit of fun celebrating New Year’s Day. He said “nah, don’t want to” and walked off. I was a bit hurt but fine, he’s allowed to not want to dance. A few months later I found condoms in his bag. The “not wanting to dance” thing was a tiny part of the larger picture of him drawing away from me, bad attitude in general etc.

Not saying your husband is cheating but sometimes that type of behaviour is indicative of something else beneath the surface.
