DH wouldn't dance to our special song

Last night, at a bday party, our special song comes on. We are standing in a group, I look at DH with my most alluring face, say "our special song, let's dance", but he didn't respond. It was humiliating.

Has anyone else ever experienced such rejection and what do you think should do now?

Well obviously this is grounds for divorce 😂😂

NineDaysQueen · 23/11/2024 15:36

It's the end of days.
Into your nuclear bunker, everyone

Tontostitis · 23/11/2024 15:46

Wow can't believe how nasty the responses are. You have every right to be upset and I would be gutted if my husband rejected me publicly even if was pissed and embarrassing he loves me and never hesitates to show it. That's what you deserve 💐

I’ll have you know that my Birdie Song dance is very alluring!

LMFAO!!!!!!!!

NoisyDenimShaker · 23/11/2024 15:52

@Fluffywabbits 🤣🤣🤣

itsmabeline · 23/11/2024 15:58

Did you use words to accompany the face?

Planesmistakenforstars · 23/11/2024 15:58

Thank god (for us and you) you've posted this on an anonymous forum instead of asking people in real life.

Just out of interest, what occasion would you break out your second most alluring face for?

Barney16 · 23/11/2024 15:59

My DP does this, the our special song thing. It's hideous. He's usually drunk and he can't dance. It's possibly the most embarrassing part of my life. More embarrassing than the time I walked round Tesco with my frock tucked in my knickers. People look at me pityingly.

niadainud · 23/11/2024 16:00

NoisyDenimShaker · 23/11/2024 14:56

That's a bit unfair!

I mean the "alluring face" bit.

Well I'd certainly never unironically describe myself as alluring, anyway...

Icanttakethisanymore · 23/11/2024 16:00

LTB!

harriethoyle · 23/11/2024 16:03

I NEEEEED to see your most alluring face @marmitesarnies - pleeeeassseee! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

BustingBaoBun · 23/11/2024 16:04

Not everyone wants to dance to Agadoo, push pineapple, shake the tree... you've got to be in the mood to do the actions, honest.

ginasevern · 23/11/2024 16:07

Was it "The Final Countdown"? For some reason my DH got it in his head this was our special song. It really wasn't.

AmiablePedant · 23/11/2024 16:19

There is a wonderful country song (and I don't even like country) which has the line "you gotta dance like nobody's watching, / Love like you'll never be hurt." It is actually a kind of covert mantra for me. And a gentleman doesn't snub a lady in public; he might courteously get out of dancing with her (and obviously if the song itself is a bit risque there are other issues). But I am smugly glad to say that my partner (and we are both OLD) would still dance to "Burning Down the House" with me, without even being asked (for you babes in arms out there, the song is by Talking Heads).

ObtuseMoose · 23/11/2024 16:19

Was he aware that you were making an alluring face? Maybe he thought it was just a bit of trapped wind.

mrstumbler · 23/11/2024 16:19

JustinThyme · 23/11/2024 13:52

Flipping heck, OP, it’s not the 6th form disco! Nobody dances to “their special song“ in public. How drunk were you?

Have a bacon sandwich and two paracetamol and forget about it. And prey everyone else has.

(I’m now googling “alluring face” and wishing I hadn’t)

6th form disco 🤣🤣

Do you ever think there should be an additional voting button on AIBU
the "this has got to be a wind up button"

marmitesarnies · 23/11/2024 16:24

Ha ha thanks for your engagement - I have had proper laugh reading replies in my hungover state on sofa! 😂

Was just a light-hearted post, the legend that is Sarah Hadland / Stevie was indeed my inspiration for the "allure"!

Do regular married/partnered people dance in public?

I mean around your house like no ones watching maybe or as a mating ritual in a club when young but I don't think I have ever really seen an older established couple dance in public (even weddings its just an awkward sway normally).

Lifeomars · 23/11/2024 16:26

If you thought your face was alluring there is a very strong possibility that it was the exact opposite. I am picturing Nadine Dorries style love sick gurning at Boris Johnson

GivingitToGod · 23/11/2024 16:27

Waterboatlass · 23/11/2024 13:52

Maybe he wasn't in a dancing mood? I love dancing in a lot of circs but when I'm not feeling it it's really embarrassing to try and I absolutely hate being dragged up when I'm not ready.

This
U R overthinking OP
