DH wouldn't dance to our special song

Last night, at a bday party, our special song comes on. We are standing in a group, I look at DH with my most alluring face, say "our special song, let's dance", but he didn't respond. It was humiliating.

Has anyone else ever experienced such rejection and what do you think should do now?

😆 this can’t be real

although I agree with others and also want to know what this alluring face looks like!

StormingNorman · 23/11/2024 14:33

I’m going to have to LTB because we don’t even have a special song not to dance to.

This thread is absolutely hilarious!

Joining in to know the song.
Was it She's The One by Robbie Williams? Or Three Times a Lady by the Commodores? Or Oops Upside Your Head by The Gap Band?

Were you a bit tipsy when you were doing this 'most alluring face'? Because I'm picturing you as being a bit tipsy when you were doing this 'most alluring face'.

"Ooh, love, is are shpecial shong, les dansh 🥴 💃"

LMAO! That's straight out of Bridget Jones!

I’ve got tears running down my face. Have laughed this much for a while!

NoisyDenimShaker · 23/11/2024 14:38

I bet the DH has a special song of his own right now: Pour Me A Drink by Post Malone. 😂

Me neither!!

KimberleyClark · 23/11/2024 14:39

I get it OP. In my previous relationship before DH, our special song came on at a party (Hello by Lionel Richie), I went to look for him and found him dancing to it with someone else. And didn’t stop when he saw me. He wasn’t cheating but he was an immature wanker.

DH’s and my special song is Come Fly With Me by Frank Sinatra. Had it on our wedding video.

FupaTrooper · 23/11/2024 14:39

Reverse.... Or you are very cringe.

My DH would smile and say "maybe later".

Why would you just start spontaneously dancing? Was anyone else? Either way, you really put him on the spot. I would be so embarrassed if my DH did that to me.

I Don't Feel Like Dancing by the Scissor Sisters?

That and the alluring face just confused the poor chap.

God, I'd be mortified if someone gave me an 'alluring look' and tried to get me to dance to a song that had personal significance. A shared smile would have done for me.

NoisyDenimShaker · 23/11/2024 14:42

Maybe it was the Birdie song! 😂

lightsandtunnels · 23/11/2024 14:43

Hilarious. Got to be a joke. My DH also would not dance to our special song, whatever my face looked like but that shouldn't stop you from dancing!

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 23/11/2024 13:50

He probably didn't want to make your friends all cringe any more than they were probably already cringing in response to your "alluring face".

There's a time and a place for this stuff, OP. And a birthday party with all your mates probably isn't that time or place.

Absolutely this! You need several grips.

Yes! She's laughing so hard that she can't see through the tears! And I'm in much the same state myself! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

WhimsicalGubbins76 · 23/11/2024 14:48

Alluring… 🫣

OP, if my DH did this to me I’d literally run in the other direction

poormenagain · 23/11/2024 14:53

Do you live together? If so, I would rush home, gather all of his personal effects, throw them out of the window one by one (this has greater effect if it is an upstairs window, even better if you're in a high rise) whilst singing Hepburn's "I Quit!" or perhaps Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots are Made for Walking". Then rush outdoors and set fire to them in the garden.

(Don't do this last part if you actually live in a high-rise; or at least be really stealthy about it.)

niadainud · 23/11/2024 14:54

Do you always take yourself so seriously?
