A leaked French medical report from 2023 has confirmed that Algerian boxer Imane Khelif is male.

Ironically, if a biological female took testosterone and tried to compete, regardless of whether she won or not, she would be disqualified for doping.

Males don't belong in women's sports. IDGAF if Imane is a mediocre boxer or not, mine and your personal view on boxing is irrelevant. Sex categories exist for reasons of fairness and safety.

A woman boxer is not a man boxer with a DSD, or an artificially impeded man boxer, or just a really shit man boxer. He's a man. He can compete as one, and win or lose accordingly. But he has no place in women's sports. He's a man.

I knew as soon as I saw his presumably Muslim coach carrying him on his shoulders. A Muslim man wouldn't do that to a women he wasn't married to.

Of course drug cheats steal places from women. Its just that its a cheating woman stealing the place. Of course they put their lives at risk. Drugs make them stronger and more aggressive than without drugs, so they punch harder. How does that not make them more dangerous. But again, i do believe its cheating. I have enormous sympathy for Imane Khalif and anyone who has DSDs. It must be utterly devastating to hit puberty and realise that you are not developing as other women - and not only that - you are developing as a male.

I have no sympathy when, on learning this, people proceed to support that individual to participate in female sports. Was Imane ever participating in male boxing competitions? Did they switch to female boxing recently? Have they always boxed as a woman? If they are fully aware of their sex status how can they justify participating as a woman?

I would also like to see some official verification of this medical report. If it’s genuine, there should be a statement forthcoming surely?

Why is it so important to you that men should be allowed to punch women and get medals for it? Why does supporting male delusion matter more than female safety and equal opportunity?

I realise it's not the main point of this case, and that fairness and safety are foremost in posters' minds.

I'd just point out that the Muslim world isn't a monolith. North African women are not obliged to cover their hair by law or by local religious tradition. Many do, but most prominent sportswomen don't. Touching, hugging and high fiving men is also not unknown - Algeria isn't Iran. Someone like Ons Jabeur would be a good point of comparison for a Muslim sportswoman from North Africa.

No sport in this country should get any taxpayer funding unless they protect the female category (and that includes you Parkrun).
