A leaked French medical report from 2023 has confirmed that Algerian boxer Imane Khelif is male.

Top endocrinologists found that Khelif has XY chromosomes, no uterus, internal testicles, and a "micropenis."

The report was drafted in June of 2023 via a collaboration between the Kremlin-Bicêtre hospital in Paris, France, and the Mohamed Lamine Debaghine hospital in Algiers, Algeria. Drafted by expert endocrinologists Soumaya Fedala and Jacques Young, the report reveals that Khelif is impacted by 5-alpha reductase deficiency, a disorder of sexual development that is only found in biological males.

Surely in light of situations such as this the IOC have a duty of care to women to change their current practices in order to prevent a woman from EVER being in a fight with a man??!!!!

You would think so, wouldn't you?

😵‍💫

But a cheek swab is hardly invasive compared to routine stuff like smear tests and mammograms that women endure in every day life.

As a lot of irritated women on Twitter pointed out in response to Adam Rutherford's wheedling nonsense.

And then some men started to cry about prostate exams...

🙄

With my gyne-procedure history, I have limited sympathy for Rutherford’s, or the prostate-havers’, protestations of suffering undignified and invasive procedures.

It's not the first time. The IOC knows the situation, it's allowed men to compete as women before, it doesn't give a shit. To my knowledge this is the first time it's happened in a sport where it actually endangers women, rather than running or weightlifting or archery, but the IOC knows exactly what's going on and doesn't care. Gutless, witless, misogynistic, worse than useless bastards.

In the paralympics strict tests for disability classification are applied.

But again, not for sex.

They see no reason to hide their sexism and misogyny. I guess that's a powerful reason for erasing sex...so you can show your total contempt for women and their safety and opportunities while claiming you haven't been sexist because sex doesn't exist. It would be bigoted to make men compete as men, though.

Why does the female category even exist if men can enter it? Purely so men can claim to be women?

OuterSpaceCadet · 10/11/2024 09:16

They dont just say show us your blue badge

And even then, blue badges are incredibly difficult to get! And the interview for them could certainly be experienced as unpleasant and creepy (they observe and assess people before and after, not just during the interview) if not actually invasive.

Similarly the DWP will use covert surveillance on people claiming benefits for disability.

But of course when it's a special type of male with big wants, even women discussing the issue is called abusive

Italian interview with the journalist who obtained the leaked Khelif medical info. He's Algerian himself. Below is the translated text available on their website as well as the original.

https://feministpost.it/dal-mondo/khelif-e-maschio-sono-in-possesso-dei-sex-test-parla-il-giornalista-francese-che-ha-riaperto-il-caso/

THE two medical reports – French and Algerian – which the journalist came into possession of, later released by the feminist site Reduxx, reveal that Khelif has XY karyotype, internal testes, male testosterone levels and would be affected by 5-alpha reductase deficiency, (5 ADR), a disorder of sex development that is found only in biological males and sometimes leads to them being incorrectly classified as female at birth.

...

You say you have two medical reports confirming that Khelif has XY karyotype with DSD, 5-ARD. Are you absolutely sure that the documents are not fake?

«More than sure. 200 percent. These reports cannot be falsified, we have obtained them from reliable sources, well placed within the institutions. They come directly from the offices".

The news has reached Italy. In the Corriere della Sera for example they write that your investigation is a hoax. The endocrinologists Soumaya Fedala and Jacques Young, whom you cite, are not aware of the facts.

«They are lying. Let them provide me with a single statement from Young in which he says he did not know about these reports.^ An article in Libération reports that the Hopitaux de Paris has confirmed the existence of the report.^And it is absolutely impossible to deny its existence: the one in Paris bears a number composed of several numbers. In any case, If Khelif goes ahead the courts will want to check our documents, so they will have to ask the hospitals for them. The fact that the Corriere journalist does not know me is normal. We have not frequented the same places. I have not met him in the Balkans or in Afghanistan or anywhere else where one braves danger for a news story. I am not one of those journalists who reinvent the news behind their desks, waiting for the lunch break, to gorge themselves on a delicious plate of spaghetti and “bufala”. I ran after the human being wherever I found him, to tell his story with sincerity, humility and empathy. Why does Corriere publish such an article without checking the veracity of the information? There is no honesty or rigor».

NonPlayerCharacter · 10/11/2024 22:14

If he sues for libel, they can prove it's true. If he sues for breach of confidentiality, or whatever the phrase would be, I imagine it's possible that the public interest would justify it. This isn't some silly kiss and tell scandal, there's serious public interest in this.

If Corriere claims the journalist is lying and he can prove he isn't, he'd surely have a libel case for that?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/11/2024 01:19

We know he's telling the truth. I guess it hinges on whether he can force proof of Khelif's sex to be submitted to any court.

NonPlayerCharacter · 12/11/2024 16:54

It's exactly what's happening! Oh my. So now, presumably, Khelif will have to either prove he's a woman or openly accept that he's a man? If he's effectively called the journalist a liar, then presumably he will need to refute the evidence that led to the story?

In English law, the only defence against a libel suit is to prove that the libellous statement is true. IK would have to prove that the story about him is untrue.

'Fake news' is a serious slur and an attack on the journalist's livelihood.

I still don’t agree with the witch hunt. If Khelif reasonably believed themselves to be female and had been brought up as female since birth without knowing about the chromosomal disorder, they were not acting as a man boxing against women. Intent counts here, I think.

If they knew and still competed, that is a different story.

Edited

I think intent counts in terms of any 'witch hunt', but I don't think it counts in terms of the cold hard facts of the matter and whether, if it's subsequently confirmed he is male, whether he should be stripped of the title and medals (and prevented to competing in women's sports in the future).

It’s disgusting that this person has complete randomers discussing such intimate details of their body like this. Aside from sports or medals, they deserve not to have this information out there so that User1234 from Nowhereville can smugly announce it online. Human decency seems totally lacking.

Human decency is also lacking in allowing men to punch women and cheat at women's sports, both putting them in real physical danger and also making a mockery of fair competition and robbing all the female competitors of the chance to win an Olympic medal, after dedicating their lives to training for it.

Not quite true...there are other defences and actually "fair comment" is the one most commonly used.

In this case, though, it all hinges on a simple point of fact, which most libel cases don't do (they're more likely to be something along the lines of "he's the worst actor on telly and ruins every show he's in"). I suppose it will depend on what is meant by "fake news" and, ultimately, what a woman is. If, as in Oz, it is ruled that a woman can be a man who says he's a woman, we could be in for trouble. I don't see any way it won't provide some much needed sunlight, though.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/11/2024 19:25

The journalist says he's seen Khelif's medical record and that it says Khelif is male with 5-ARD. That's what's being called "fake news".

I imagine Khelif could counter it by saying he meant it was boring or irrelevant...just guessing. One way or another, he's surely going to have to make a statement in court about whether he's biologically male or female according to the sex test markers. If he counters by claiming he didn't mean the story was false, then that's surely a tacit admission that it's true.

Or maybe he'll settle out of court.

I don't know. It'll be interesting to see what happens. I can't see any way the journalist can lose if the court isn't insane, but the laws in many places, and therefore the courts that enforcement them, are currently insane. I assume the case is taking place in Algeria?

NotBadConsidering · 12/11/2024 21:54

Khelif won’t actually sue because he knows it will bring out the truth. He’s just throwing around threats to keep his supporters on board.

I thought the suing was being done by the journalist he's defamed, not by Khelif? So it won't be up to him whether to do it or not, but to his accuser.

Yes, but if the journalists sues for defamation Khelif will have no choice but to defend his position in court, to prove that the journalist is lying? Which he cannot do, it would seem. Even if he chose to settle out of court, in an effort to evade the scrutiny, such a settlement would be tantamount to an admission of his maleness?

This is kind of a checkmate move, isn’t it?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/11/2024 22:00

Yes, allegedly Khelif is suing a whole host of prominent people, but the journalist is suing Khelif.

NotBadConsidering · 12/11/2024 22:03

Yes, sorry, it will be great if the journalist sues and refuses to settle out of court.

If that's fake news then Times Radio is guilty too. The sports commentator mentioned IK's DSD this morning, specifying that it was 5 ARD, and host accepted as if that was well known to all.
