Vibrators on sale at Tesco, thought it was a bit much

Went to buy some toothpaste with my kids, 7 year old wants to see new toy in plastic boxes, it’s rows and rows of vibrators. Is it just me or is this a bit much for the weekly shop?

It’s far too much. It feels like every single part of life has to be exposed, picked over and analysed or ‘celebrated’ now and it’s just too much.

They’re usually with the condoms. I don’t think it’s a big deal really.

I mean really what’s the difference between that and condoms?
One is for males and one is for females making it therefore so much more lewd?

That's where they are at our Tesco's I really don't see the big issue with the store selling them.

Yes, that sort of thing should be strictly restricted to shops in back streets with brown paper over the windows so as not to offend our delicate middle class sensibilities.

They’ve had vibrators by the condoms etc for years. Nothing new and not really anymore shameful than condoms

You mean where sexual products have always been in every single supermarket layout?
Condoms and lube is fine but there’s a line between those and a vibrator?

Whats wrong with them selling vibrators. Ive bought a couple from Tesco And from Sainsburys too.

I guess if I could pick I’d probably put condoms behind the pharmacy counter too, I get that people may want to buy these items it’s just that as a parent I want to choose when my kids hear about these things rather than just get exposed to them.

But these things should be normalised. Condoms and vibrators are just normal parts of adult life no different from seeing alcohol and pregnancy tests.

I wouldn't expect them to be with the toothpaste but apart from that I'm not bothered.

I agree, it’s definitely disappointing that there is no discretion and that nothing is personal. Adds to the jaded quality of modern life.

They’re on sale on the higher shelves, they’re not for use in the aisle itself.

The range is wider in some supermarkets including rabbit ones and fleshlight ones for men

Think education and culture are most important towards promoting safe sex, but at my Tesco pharmacy is literally in the same store not really a barrier, anyone mature enough to be having sex should definitely be able to overcome this “obstacle”
