Reading the details of the abuse that poor baby went through just made me throw up, how can anyone do that to another living being never mind a child. How long they must have held the iron to her to cause burns to that extent is utterly horrific, how on earth can you even have the bare faced cheek to say it was legal punishment for poor behaviour.
I don't know how any police officers could interview these pieces of shit without attacking them knowing what they done to Sara.

Just disgusting all round

That poor child

Pity its not legal to grab her teeth with a pliers and yank them out of her head. Apologies I am feeling violent after reading about that poor little child's awful death.

London22 · 14/10/2024 20:01

I've just finished reading this and my heart just breaks for her. I hate to say it, but sometimes I think eventual death is better, as the poor, innocent child is free, from being furthered abused. Rest in eternal peace, Sara.
On a sidenote, this is one case I would fully support capital punishment!!!!

Another raft of “lessons learned” by social services no doubt. I’m absolutely fucking sick of reading this stuff I really am. Schools obsessed with fining parents for taking their kids out for a week to Disney land but this girl was absent for 4 months and nothing was done.

She was being “homeschooled” apparently.

but agree that there should have been some checks on homeschooling especially as she was known to social services.

“Sara had been taken out of primary school in April to be homeschooled by her stepmother and was known to social services. Her case is likely to raise questions about what could have been done to prevent her death and a multi-agency rapid review is already under way.“

I really hope the reason SS and the school were slow to act isn’t as a result of the culture/faith of the family involved.

I doubt it.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened and most of the time it’s white British people.

Its often SS being stretched to the limit or her somehow falling under the radar.

I wonder if she was homeschooled or they hurt her in areas where teachers couldn’t see it.

You know it will be the exact reason and you know "lessons have been learned" until the next Sara, the next baby p, the next Victoria climbie et al.

I think family courts should be held accountable for their part in facilitating the abuse of children.

It's easy to blame the social workers and solicitors but they are under pressure in a ridiculously overpowered system. It is all too easy to miss signs and to be conned by some cunning and scheming carers. Who would want to be a social worker? I know I couldn't cope with it.
The people who are to blame are the bastards who committed the abuse. I hope they all rot in hell.

1983Louise · 14/10/2024 20:07

I'm 60 and I live in hope that the death sentence is brought back for child killers, I'd gladly string them up. We can only hope that prison becomes a living nightmare for them like the poor girls home life was for her.

nocoolnamesleft · 14/10/2024 20:12

Those monsters tortured Sara. It is the only word for it. The pain, and fear, she must have experienced is truly sickening.

Chowtime · 14/10/2024 20:13

I'm 60 too and I don't think the death sentence should be brought back. I do, however, think that prisoners can elect to be euthanised if they wish.

Can anyone advise me whether there is a podcast reporting from court about this case?

I often wonder whether it was always the intention of the perpetrator/s to end a childs life by doing this. I don't understand at what point were they going to stop what they were doing, or were they just planning to carry on to the inevitable end? I guess it's just a whole different mindset.

Lindy2 · 14/10/2024 20:13

Sara's older brother was 13 and the twins and baby were her younger step siblings. The abuse could well have been going on in front of them too. What awful things for those young children to witness. It's absolutely heartbreaking.

Why was poor Sara singled out to be tortured like that?

timenowplease · 14/10/2024 20:14

HaveYouSeenRain · 14/10/2024 19:57

For those asking about siblings, this was reported 9 months ago. Could have changed since then of course

The older brother and half-siblings of the 10-year-old schoolgirl Sara Sharif, who was found dead at the home of her father and stepmother in August, have been made wards of court in this country.
Despite efforts by Surrey county council to secure their return to the UK, all five children, aged one to 13, remain in Pakistan where they were taken by their father, Urfan Sharif, and the mother of the younger four siblings, Beinash Batool, the day before Sara’s body was discovered by police on 10 August.

Christ, why have those kids not been returned to this country? At the very least they are witnesses.

I think there have been plenty of parents and agencies that have been screaming for a long time about how the homeschooling system in this country is wholly inadequate and actually rather ideal for abusive monstrous parents. Can only hope the new government pays attention.

Cross posted with you but how do you know she was singled out? They could all have been experiencing abuse? The 13 year old could have been participating.

What a shit show. Bet they haven't even been interviewed.

My husband said that Sara's father probably hated his ex wife and took it out on Sara.

Topjoe19 · 14/10/2024 20:17

@Willyoujustbequiet I absolutely agree. It's horrific.

Chowtime · 14/10/2024 20:18

The heartbreaking thing in all this is that I bet she wasn't naughty. She wouldn't have dared to be.

howrudeforme · 14/10/2024 20:19

I think Sara’s brother and half siblings are being hidden in Pakistan.

i hope they are returned here as has been requested rather than being hidden away. Is it because Sara’s brother would make a good witness. And what about their mother not having access to Sara and now her other child.

spicysugar · 14/10/2024 20:19

TashaTudor · 14/10/2024 18:51

I needed access to my medical records recently and it's recorded on there that I was raped and sexually abused by my father for years. I was forced to see him every weekend for a further 2 years after it was noted, missed every Monday off school and unable to walk. I was 9 years old and it's taken a lot of therapy knowing it was on my medical record and nobody cared. Unfortunately I don't think things will ever change.

Rest in peace beautiful girl

I'm so sorry.

What's wrong with those people who are supposed to protect children.

They should have to explain their decision-making and not hide behind job titles.

Yes the children are with their grandparent in Pakistan and I don't think Pakistan and the UK have an extradition treaty.

It says a lot that the parents would rather be in jail in the UK than free in Pakistan. They returned here voluntarily.

Exactly. Surely that in itself is a crime.

I presume the kids are UK citizens.

NiggleNoggle · 14/10/2024 20:23

I am home educating and there is huge resistance (not from me) in the the home ed community to any idea of formal lists/inspections of children who are out of school. Every time this comes up I think of Sara and wish there was better safeguarding. So many children being kept at home for the wrong reasons sadly.

I agree with you. At least at school she would have had more of a chance for the torture and abuse to be picked up on.

It’s so heartbreaking, unbearable really

greenday16B · 14/10/2024 20:24

Why are children allowed to go missing from school?
Rhetorical....because teachers just don't have time to care.
