Does anyone remember this horrific case that had weird overtones? It's on ITV right now about how the detectives solved the case. Every time I see the media slagging off the police, I just think about cases like this and the sh** they have to deal with and see.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-31730542

Id never heard of that case before.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 17/12/2024 11:59

Sharif being sentenced now.

hotpotlover · 17/12/2024 12:21

I hope they get the maximum sentences and the judge throws the book at them.

I hate them so much.

MichaelandKirk · 17/12/2024 12:24

The Climbie case was truly vile. Apparently a nurse when Victoria was in hospital noticed that Victoria had a master/slave relationship with her Aunt but it was dismissed because there were some cultural reasons why this might be the case.

This murdering scum doesnt feel he has really done anything wrong. He is displining her and it went a little too far. Sorry and all that but it just went too far....I hope he never has a peaceful night ever but somehow I think money will be thrown at this to protect him!

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 17/12/2024 12:36

I struggle to see any mitigation.

hotpotlover · 17/12/2024 13:03

Father: life in prison, minimum term: 40 years
Stepmother: life in prison, minimum term: 33 years
Uncle: 16 years, has to serve at least 2/3 and the rest on licence

YourAmplePlumPoster · 17/12/2024 13:06

Three dangerous people have been removed from society.

bombastix · 17/12/2024 13:07

Disgusting depraved people. Now let’s get some accountability for the family court that delivered thus poor child into the arms of two sadists. The contrast of the drivel by the family court judge and the criminal court judge’s clear eyes assessment of these dangerous people should not be forgotten. One did a hopeless job. The other, after a child is dead, has weighted the consequences in years

roxyro · 17/12/2024 13:10

That was tough listening to the judge listing everything. Tied in the stress position and left in own urine and faeces. The poor siblings left in Pakistan with the younger three with developmental issues, His father in the news a few days ago insisting he will keep the children there. I dread to think.

Although nothing can justify what that little girl endured at least he is unlikely to see freedom again. I was also heartened by hearing that her birth mother gave her a full Catholic funeral service. Call me small minded but that will have angered him and, in death, Sara finally got one over him.

RIP Sara x

viques · 17/12/2024 13:12

Will the uncle be deported once the period of licence has expired? I hope so. I would also like the fathers immigration status to be reviewed and revoked in the highly unlikely event that he survives his sentence.

That was a hard listen, it must be very hard for the judge to have to speak knowing that he has to stick to the sentencing guidelines and not express his true feelings, however I got the sense that there were times when he was speaking about Sara that he was close to tears.

RIP little one, I am sorry your last years were spent in such torment. I am pleased you are with your Polish family now who will cherish your memory.

Fizbosshoes · 17/12/2024 13:13

I know that previous crimes aren't allowed to be included in a trial so as not to prejudice the case .....but in instances like this, the history is so relevant, he had a history of being violent to women, another child was taken away from his care because of abuse, was there really a chance this can have been anything but the result of abuse and torture?
And why on earth is all that not taken into account within the family court when he was given custody.

Thetrickcyclist · 17/12/2024 13:15

Good. They're locked away for a very long time now.

@viques I listened to the full sentencing and also thought the judge was close to tears a few times. The judge was very thorough and the details of what he described were absolutely horrendous. Obviously I'm sorry the sentences were not even longer but I think the judge went through his reasoning very fully and of course he has to stick to sentencing guidelines.

Apparently the uncle is not dangerous, according to the judgement. I think anyone who shows such scant understanding of the vulnerability of a small child is someone who would prove very dangerous should he ever have charge of his own , thankfully currently unborn , children.

ilovebrie8 · 17/12/2024 13:22

That was a very hard listen the sentencing....does that mean the dad and step mum must severe those full terms 40 and 33?

Words fail me for the disgust and anger I feel...

Surely the neighbours should have done more and everyone who was supposed to look out for her...

This is truly depraved they are sick monsters may the rot in hell!

MichaelandKirk · 17/12/2024 13:27

This thread seems to often be mentioning the neighbours. On many many threads when people talk about hearing shouting, swearing etc next door to them they are often told to keep their beak out or to offer help to the poor parent who is clearly struggling with their mental health. Add the cultural aspect to this and the blended family and you have a situation where no one dares get too involved.

The sentence's were correct. However, wouldnt it be a shame if they had to serve them in Parkistan.....

YourAmplePlumPoster · 17/12/2024 13:28

YourAmplePlumPoster · 17/12/2024 13:30

What about the sister who received these WhatsApp messages and said nothing?

Dangerousness is defined in law for sentencing purposes. Technically not dangerous.

They should be deported to Pakistan to serve their sentences.

ilovebrie8 · 17/12/2024 13:33

can they be sent to Pakistan?

Too concerned about upsetting them to step in...it is horrific what she went through for so long...

Yes. No parole possibility until those minimum terms are up.

I think of the money spent housing these depraved people. Better spent on social protection and improving family justice. What a cheap country we are if you are vulnerable.

Because they are secretive and a law unto themselves with no logic or reasoning

MichaelandKirk · 17/12/2024 14:03

Can I ask a couple of questions

  1. Why did they come back from Parkistan?
  2. Were they actually listening to the judge and his sentencing?
YourAmplePlumPoster · 17/12/2024 14:07

What about the relatives who hid them in Pakistan?
