Anyone else just wish these xl bullies would disappear?

I know I’m not the only one and don’t think I am being unreasonable tbh but didn’t know where else to post this.

In the past week or so there have been five serious attacks in the UK but what we have plastered all over the news is the police apologising to a deluded xl bully owner, when he’s the one who failed to do as he’s told.
What kind of message does that send?

The other day armed police were called to Stockport because of a dangerous dog and three people were injured. There’s only one little article about it in the Star. When did this ever used to happen in this country? It’s not normal.

I just don’t see why normal, decent people should have to live in fear of these scumbags and their dangerous dogs. Nothing is being done, how can something be banned if there are exemptions?
When the dogs do attack, the owners get months in prison which is the equivalent to a slap on the wrist.

It’s like being in possession of something worse than a loaded gun or a lion. Nobody’s allowed pepper spray though - you can get 4 years in prison just for carrying it apparently.
If they at least increased the jail time maybe that would deter people from owning these dangerous dogs.

at times some dogs will bite

if an xl bully went for you its going for the kill as have American Bulldogs

but continue to fool yourself into thinkings they are just cute misunderstood breeds

Misunderstood breeds. OK........ I've several scars from cockapoos, collies, labs who don't want to come back in their kennel. 8ft malamutes, huskys, xls, rotties, corsos, I have no problem controlling with firm loud commands. The "cute" breeds are spoilt and not disciplined.

user1471516498 · 10/11/2024 21:45

The big difference between XLs and the other breeds you mention is that the XL is a new breed in the UK, and a huge amount of them descend from one very unstable dog, so the gene pool is very small and the bad traits just get amplified.

The point is though, if 1 of those XLs were to attack, you're probably not going to be on here talking about your scars.

CombatBarbie · 10/11/2024 22:40

Ok so everytime I'm attacked by a cute breed I'll keep posting in here. Algorithms and all that.

chihuahuas.....cute.....totally up there in arsehole temperamental breed!!

CombatBarbie · 10/11/2024 22:42

And the amount of "cute" breeds that come in and owners say he's "nervous" 'just playing"....... these dog attacks not reported, or covered up by "an ear infection".

this is concerning you obviously work with dogs yet can’t seem to grasp that certain dog breeds are killing children and adults again and again

and to add to this you want to highlight dog bites (I know can be nasty) when what is being discussed, as it’s yet again been reported on is dogs attacking with the aim to kill and should they attack no adult would stand a chance even with controlling loud firm commands

im quite certain the parents of this poor little girl killed last week thought they could control their dog they learnt they could not and their daughter paid for this with her life it’s is utterly horrific

How many people have chihuahuas killed? Totally up there with the asshole breed you say.

Umm if it was a chihuahua then that poor 10 year old wouldn't be dead. Silly comparison makes me suspect you don't work with dogs at all, probably a XL owner

These attacks aren't reported in the news as nobody had life changing injuries or was killed. How can you not see the difference?

The simple fact is if an XL attacks it isn't going to leave a scratch or a small puncture wound. If it did, that wouldn't be reported on either, as show me the stories in the news of an XL that bit somebody and just left them with a very small injury. In your eyes though we have to mention every little injury caused by any breed to even things out and show a fairer comparison? Ridiculous!

Oof you work in rescue and you are comparing collie/lab/chi bites to the damage that XL bullies do? Idiot

HidingHereForTomorrow · 11/11/2024 14:05

As examples.. I’ve been nipped on the bum and the arm when collies have tried to heard me, painful yes! Chi’s have snapped at my ankles when they are all worked up. I haven’t been bitten by a lab yet.. but FFS stop defending the dogs that are killing our children.

Um, I'm not sure I'd agree that an XL Bully is worse than a lion. 😂

How many people would be killed if there was as many pet lions as there are XL bullies?

Or are we using the logic that Covid is worse than cancer because it's more common?

OuchyEars · 11/11/2024 23:46

Yalta what is a KFC dog? I have googled but just get images of dogs with branded chicken.

HidingHereForTomorrow I have met a friendly full grown XL and got bruised by its friendly tail. I can't imagine many humans are big enough to reach both its collar and a pointy stick up its bum at the same time.

Here for the tips on how to survive a dog attack, or help someone else do so.

Too many, that's why it's illegal to keep one. 13 people were killed by XL bullies last year. Also too many.

You’d be surprised what you can do if your child is being attacked. I have never done it, but an old man who has been in rescue for years told me to do it if nothing else is working and I assure you, nothing other than a bullet will put them down if they attack. More of a distraction to get them to let go even for just a moment.

HidingHereForTomorrow · 12/11/2024 16:36

Also KFC dogs are the mongrels like cockerpoodle this and that, labradoodles this and that. Yorkiepoodledoodles 🙄 at least the ones that look like fried chicken, orange and curly or whatnot. Breeders have really taken buyers for a spin.

What? Well I've heard a lot of ridiculous, untrue comments about poodle crosses, but this is the most bizarre one yet 😂

Whitemale24 · 12/11/2024 18:32

I really think it depends on the owner. I take my bully, Diesel, to the local park after work when the weather's okay. Nothing better than cracking a fozzies whilst diesel pants away. He's happy, I'm happy and the other people in the play area don't seem to mind. Perhaps UABU.

HidingHereForTomorrow · 12/11/2024 18:43

It’s a meme 🙄 no need to take such offence just Google kfc puppy. Poodle crosses are mongrels as you know, and backyard breeders have made £10ks each since they have started giving them cutey names.. and the buyers are suckered in. Paying thousands for a mongrel pup with no history.. they are everywhere now. Anyway that’s not the point of this thread so I’ll leave it.

I didn't take "such offence" I found it quite funny actually.

I'm not sure even dickheads buy a dog as they like the name 🤷‍♀️

There are decent breeders out there and actually some of the crosses make pretty perfect pets, with many being used as therapy dogs.

Let's not forget there are poor breeders of purebred dogs too. There are more backyard breeders of poodle crosses currently as they're popular dogs, so of course they become desirable by puppy farmers. But they're popular for a reason - as they're generally nice, family dogs.
