Facing that fact is important for honest engagement with everyone else

so you require all trans people to out themselves?

I mean, this is largely hypothetical since we all have eyes and ears, but what if a trans person is outer? So what? What are the actual consequences of that happening?

Morecoffeeforme · 25/09/2024 12:09

FlirtsWithRhinos · 25/09/2024 12:03

Um - a trans woman outs himself as soon as he undresses surely?

Or perhaps you imagine this putative trans woman keeping fully clothed while women undress around him, only undressing himself once alone?

None of them pass so they’re never “outed” anyway

PiggleToes · 25/09/2024 12:09

CrochetForLife · 25/09/2024 12:03

What does that have to do with anything?

You realise males with cock and balls exist, right? And that they are not at threat among other males with cock and balls, right?

What does that have to do with anything?

because the issue was about the risks to trans people’s safety and dignity if they are required to out themselves as trans.
you seem to think this is impossible somehow? I don’t quite get it.

Why do women who don't wish to share with males have to out themselves?

I think theres a fair amount of evidence that doing so, isn't always safe for women...

Sorry just popping back on as I had a thought. How about we have two sets of facilities for women and girls ? Since there are many of us who don’t consider trans women and girls a threat to our safety and dignity?
One could be a trans inclusive space and the other could be a space for women and girls who feel unsafe around trans women and girls . A bit like this hospital arranged with the locker perhaps?

Presumably the previous answer you alluded to, but wouldn't repeat, is this one from 10;56?

PiggleToes · Today 10:56
Why would third space not work for them?
I think you would get a much better answer to that question by asking a trans person, and then really listening and hearing their answer.
However, I can imagine a few reasons- I was wondering if you could imagine any? One reason I can imagine is around “outing”- requiring trans women to out themselves to all each time they use facilities could be a violation of their privacy, compromise their safety, and reinforce stigma and social ostricisatjon for example.

So, a third space would be unsafe for transwomen but two women spaces wouldn't be? What exactly is the sort of signage you envisage the 'unsafe' space having? "YOOHOO EVERYBODY TRANSWOMAN ALERT!"? Surely it would simply be designated a unisex facility and would therefore achieve exactly the thing you have suggested with the two women spaces? How would you see the signage working for the two separate women spaces? In clear language that everyone can understand, I mean (bearing in mind the utter mess of the 2021 Census and the language barrier for non native speakers...)

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/09/2024 12:10

We had a trans man in our trust who ended up changing with the men but at one stage not too long ago we all changed together!

So a female person then Confused

Explain how a male with a COCK AND BALLS (hence isn't even trans) is 'outing' himself when he isn't trans at all?

PiggleToes · 25/09/2024 12:10

CrochetForLife · 25/09/2024 12:09

So you require a male person with a cock and balls to out himself to women and girls?

Eh? No. Trans people should not be required to out themselves to anybody.
why are you so obsessed with genitalia?

RedToothBrush · 25/09/2024 12:11

Has piggletoes acknowledged ANY of my arguments yet??

Or do we have selectivitus going on here in quoting?

They should be campaigning for a third space then not invading the women’s.

Demographically they’re the safest group anyway. All this “most vulnerable minority” is a load of crap and all the stats back it up.

I don't have a problem with a third space existing for trans women and any women who want to use it, as long as women also have a proper space which is not a cupboard or an office.

Third space is a fine option, however many TW do not want this for whatever reason.

strangeandfamiliar · 25/09/2024 12:11

Transwomen are men. Throughout human history men have been more powerful than and dangerous to women, which is reflected in the design of societies across all cultures. What is this apparently undefinable thing that makes these 'special' men so different? And if it's not about validation via being in women's spaces, but just about the special men feeling safe, why is the safe third space suggestion never acceptable? And why aren't all the other non-special men being ordered and conditioned to be kind to the special men so that they do feel safe with other adult members of their biological sex? Why is the only acceptable solution for the special men to be allowed free access to women's spaces? Well we know the answer - because they are men.

Totallymessed · 25/09/2024 12:11

@PiggleToes apparently thinks that not only should any man who wants to be able to use the women's changing room, but any woman who is uncomfortable is a bigot and should learn to shut the fuck up.

Their contempt for women is depressing.

Because it's people with one type of genitalia that keep RAPING WOMEN AND GIRLS

Fucking stupid come back, to say we are obsessed with genitals and that makes US the perverts

So in your mind, being trans is as superficial as dying one’s hair blue?

why are you so obsessed with genitalia?

Cos we are talking about a changing room and one of the issues with the women complaining was about gentialia and states of undress, maybe?

Or are you missing the point of the entire situation deliberately?

why are you so obsessed with genitalia?

Is the standard male question males ask women and girls and rape survivors, without a fucking clue what male genitals can do to women and girls.

Thanks for outing yourself as male who has no idea how seeing male genitals TRAUMATISES women and girls.

What is a trans woman?
